#authoramonth #JaneAusten This one and Sandition are the only Austen novels I hadn‘t already read, so I decided to just check this one off the list. I feel like it was bold for being written so long ago! Austen loves these headstrong women 😎This was a fun little afternoon interlude ☺️

#Auldlangspine Man, this book blew me away! It‘s so unique that it‘s hard to describe... but it deals with serious issues in a way that‘s readable and relatable. It has characters I grew to love and a riveting storyline. I know it‘s early, but I‘m pretty sure this book will be on my fave books of 2024 list! Thanks for the amazing book rec from your list @Zuhkeeyah !!🎊🎊👏😍

HOTPock3tt @monalyisha Girl! It was AMAZING! 💜 🎊 Thanks so much for the great auldlangspine match up! 🤗 3mo
HOTPock3tt @Zuhkeeyah So in the ending, Thurwar won right? And did she kill Stacks? Or did stacks let her kill her? And she was going to participate in the movement against the chain gang fights? 3mo
See All 8 Comments
AvidReader25 @HOTPock3tt It was SO good! I took it as Stacks let her kill her so Thurwar could continue the movement. I had to reread the ending because it happened so fast! 3mo
HOTPock3tt @AvidReader25 I think you‘re right!!! I had to listen to the ending again too because it was split second lol, but that DOES sound like what happened. What a great book! 3mo
Zuhkeeyah @HOTPock3tt I agree with @AvidReader25 about Stacks letting Thurwar kill her. The movement needed Thurwar to win. I'm so glad you loved it! It's such a bold way to highlight real-life issues in our justice system. 3mo
HOTPock3tt @Zuhkeeyah it really was! And the author showed how close something like this is to becoming reality. It was so well written! 3mo

Book #2 from #Auldlangspine
I didn‘t love this one nearly as much as my original auldlangspine pick.. The dual storylines felt a bit forced and I didn‘t like ANY of the characters. Maybe it was the fact that this is definitely not a favorite genre for me. I guess I was pulled in by the fact that it was about books 😕

HOTPock3tt Although this one wasn‘t the book for me, there lots of other books from @mcipher amazing list that I plan on trying as soon as I get my hands on them from the library!! 😎 13mo

#NewYearWhoDis from @Clare-Dragonfly list
A world where demons exists closely with humans. I think what didn‘t sit well with me is the main character had shades of frozen‘s Elsa and there were a few beauty and the beast references. I adore those stories! But wanted a bit more originality I guess 😕 although I was surprised at the villain reveal. It was ok! Maybe just not as memorable for me.

HOTPock3tt I wanted more romance between the MC‘s especially more bisexual girl power/interaction!! I know that wasn‘t really the focus, but I wish we could have more of it in these mainstream books 2y

When I tell you, the setting of this book in Ghana was giving me LIFE!! The setting + the amazing female MC made this book special. The MC was fun and strong and so relatable. HOTPock3tt @Katbooklover I would say get it from the library just in case you don‘t like it. Reese is always iffy for me 🤣but I hope you like it! ☺️ 3y
S3V3N When I say I cried and cheered throughout this book just know it was real. I haven‘t had a book hit me emotionally like this one did. I was soooo hurt for the MC when she found out the truth that I had to stop reading for a few hours. I couldn‘t put it down. 3y
HOTPock3tt @BeaG I was so hurt for her too because she REALLY loved him, and his family manipulated her 💔 I also loved hearing about the culture in Ghana and the food. 3y
S3V3N @HOTPock3tt Yesssss!!!! I agree with everything you said! 3y
Chrissyreadit What have you been up to? I‘m hoping we can coordinate a movie night with @sprainedbrain 🥳 3y
HOTPock3tt @Chrissyreadit Hey Chrissy!!! 🎉❤️I hope so too!! 😃🥳 I haven‘t been up to much, still reading just somehow lost the motivation to post. So now I have a backlog of about 10 books to post reviews on😅😶😰lol! 🤣how about you? How have you been?🤗 3y
Chrissyreadit @HOTPock3tt I‘m trying to clean, and read- and learn how to live with RHeumatoid arthritis without pain meds - but I would really enjoy a movie night (hint, hint) 3y
HOTPock3tt @Chrissyreadit hopefully you are using heating pads! I have chronic joint pain (not arthritis) And back pain because of my job, and heating pads help ALOT! Hope you feel better!! ❤️❤️❤️ We have to figure something out with a movie night!! 😁 I know pemberlittens aren‘t there yet with Emma, but that doesn‘t mean we couldn‘t watch something else! 😎 tagging @sprainedbrain (edited) 3y

The Four Winds: A Novel | Kristin Hannah

I just don‘t know how to FEEL right now!😍🎉😭😱 This one single book had a SAGA feel to it as it chronicles the life of the MC and life in general in depression era America. It‘s my first Kristin Hannah and I was blown away by her descriptions +her ability to breath life into the characters and the setting. It was flawless until the unsatisfactory ending! Even that couldn‘t really detract from such stellar work.

HOTPock3tt One of my patients told me “Kristin Hannah is a genre in and of herself” now I see exactly what she meant.🤗 this book was an EXPERIENCE! tagging @suvata because we were talking about Kristin Hannah earlier this week. I read some of “The Nightingale” but had to return it to the library therefore didn‘t finish it. But after THIS I will definitely pick it up again! 😃💖 (edited) 3y
mom2bugnbee The Nightingale was wonderful. I've never been disappointed by her. 3y
HOTPock3tt @mom2bugnbee I borrowed the audiobook from my library! Definitely looking forward to it!!💖🤗 3y

I finished this 2 weeks ago and forgot to review. I really enjoyed the characters in this one. Strong MC‘s and intriguing + witty side characters. The detective story/mystery was well played out and I didn‘t guess the actual culprit. Storyline moved quickly. I enjoyed this and will eventually try the rest of the series. ☺️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5

This will most likely end up on my #Favesof2021 list!! ☺️ It was an action packed thrill ride! With a totally relatable, vulnerable yet fiercely strong MC. It had legends, a touch of romance and plenty of black girl magic.

This was compulsively readable! I was unable to stop listening. I‘m not usually much into the dual storyline thing but this time around I actually liked both of them. (Although Eliza really shined, I liked the modern day one too) Overall it wasn‘t quite as memorable for me as others I‘ve read this year. I enjoyed it. Although I agree 100% @Cinfhen it‘s definitely a #BorrowNotBuy

I read this for my first ever #LMPBC. #GroupS This one really surprised me! Steeped in lots of traditional myths with very intriguing characters... The story hooks you in at the beginning. Unfortunately there is a really slow part in the middle but the ending really defined the book! I‘d say this was one of the more memorable books I‘ve read this year. It‘ll be on its way to you @sprainedbrain

This was suggested by my friend Laura (who is not on litsy) because she knows I‘m obsessed with the fae. I‘ve also heard it‘s one of Holly Blacks‘ fave series so I wanted to try it out. I‘m so glad I did! It was an addictive, very engaging and creative story! Lots of fun characters and faerie court drama (which I love) the storyline is a bit YA, but still keeps you engrossed. I will definitely continue with the rest of the series!

They‘re at it again! 😃 Veronica Speedwell and her sidekick Stoker, causing mischief and investigating murders in this cozy Victorian mystery. This was a solid entry into the series... not my fave but still a lot of fun 🙃 Also I think these are better in print than on audio. Don‘t want to give anything away... more in the comments section. 😆
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5

HOTPock3tt Veronica and stoker had some sexy times in this one! And I love how he is such a romantic he goes around quoting Keats to her! I really hope she changes her mind about marriage and decides to marry him. Also hoping for some slightly more descriptive sexy times if there is another book! 😁 Excelsior!! 3y

I was sort of following the chapter/day, but had to finish up due to waay too many library books on my plate 😅 lol. Anyways I went into this one with ZERO expectations since I‘ve never heard much about this particular Austen. I enjoyed it! I didn‘t figure out the ending plot twist. This won‘t be among my faves of hers, but I enjoyed it all the same ☺️ #Pemberlittens

This was outside of my usual genre comfort zone, but I enjoyed it! It kept me turning the pages and wondering about the motivations of each character. The ending was fantastic and gave me a lot to think about. I would try more of her work... Although I would definitely #BorrowNotBuy for this one. It wont be on my faves of the year list or anything lol but it was entertaining ☺️

Well! Can I just say how much FUN it was to be back in this world again! 😃 I‘m not a fan of nesta, but the storyline was fast paced: Plus we got to spend time with all the other amazing characters! (nesta grows on you lol) Lots of 🔥🔥🔥 scenes!😍🙌🏽 but AVOID the audiobook. The narration is terrible! 😖 Overall this was a treat! pure entertainment. If SJM writes this series for the next 50 years I‘ll still keep reading it.☺️

Unfinished: A Memoir | Priyanka Chopra Jonas

I‘ve been a fan of Priyanka‘s since Andaaz (around 2003) many years before she became famous in America with Quantico. I liked hearing her antics growing up, the backstory of film/TV projects etc. I just feel like she held back and didn‘t reveal much in general. She didn‘t address the rumors about her relationship with (married) Akshay Kumar and no backstory on Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (my fave movie of hers) maybe because he was in it. 😕
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5

HOTPock3tt I get that India is a conservative country in general, and she was probably afraid to address anything controversial. And it‘s her choice what she talks about... but I felt like she held back so much that it made the story a bit bland 😶 still good... but lacked the punch. (edited) 3y
HOTPock3tt I‘m still so proud of her every time I mention her name here in America and people actually KNOW who I‘m talking about! ❤️ I‘m happy for the tremendous amount of success she has gained all around the world. And I‘m happy to have been on board throughout her journey into Bollywood films and Into American movies/TV. Can‘t wait to see her in Matrix 4! 💖😃 (edited) 3y

Although this was more of a slow burn for me... not a lot going on in the book in GENERAL really 🤔😂. I think this would‘ve been better in print vs audio... but the ending was OVERWHELMINGLY sweet! 😍

This was really hard for me to get into, partly because I‘m not really feeling YA that much at the moment... This seems to be the younger spectrum of the genre lol 😶I did love the MC Hazel and almost all of the characters! Storyline was a bit predictable with a too neat ending. I was kind of waiting for it to end 😅 I‘m obsessed with the fae, but I preferred the faeries in her “Cruel Prince” series. Definitely a ‘borrow don‘t buy‘.
