My second Emily Henry and I can now officially say she isn't really for me.
This was fine. The Hallmark story about being Anti-Hallmark. It felt a bit trying hard for my particular tastes, which is too bad because on paper (but not this paper) Nora is totally my kinda lady. I did love that she knows she is a city girl she isn't prissy about it but she is aware of what she likes. Charlie was nondescript Fine. Not a lot to get excited for.
I don‘t read a lot of rom-coms but I had acquired a copy of this, and I‘m hosting the senior book club this month for work in which the genre is Beach Reads, so I read Book Lovers. It was slow getting into, the banter annoyed me for some reason but I liked the character development, the bookish innuendos, and the ending. Overall it was a nice, light read and I‘m sure it‘ll get snatched up in the Little Free Library 📚
Happy National Book Lovers Day Friends ❤️📚❤️📚
Full disclosure, I don't usually like modern Romance novels, there are too many descriptions of how people look in different outfits; but for the first time in my life music doesn't help me to lose myself in thought making my runs very challenging, I needed something easy to listen to distract me that it wouldn't matter if I lost concentration, and this had good reviews. I hated every minute. The sisters are not fully functioning adults ⬇️
I finally understand the Emily Henry hype. Book Lovers is the first book by her that I‘ve read, and it was an absolute delight! Reading a romance novel is definitely not my forte, but I found myself falling in love with the characters and the storyline. The story‘s quality, the characters‘ likability, and the personal growth they experienced all left a lasting impression.

I‘ve never been able to tolerate romance so why am I actually enjoying both of these?
Yes I read a book from the romance section, so sue me! And the tear I shed at the last few pages was sponsored in part by all this estrogen 😅😅😅
I was disappointed today as it is #indibookstoreday & I had to work at the library.
However, a new #indiebookshop opened by me two weeks ago , @daughterscoffeeandbooks & they were doing a book bedazzle event after I got off.
I wanted to try it & it was so much fun! I still need to complete the word “Lovers” & I did slightly mess up the “B” however for a first attempt, I am happy. And I celebrated #independentbookstoreday in a small way!
This is my 2nd Emily Henry and my 2nd bail. She is just not for me. The forced witty banter, the cookie cutter plot. I made it to page 80, but I am moving on. 🤷♀️
🚂 Adding Emily Henry onto my train because her books are more mature and realistic. College romances are fun but these fit my current mindset best
A very soft pick for me. Henry has taken the romans tropes and played around with them a bit, but ultimately, it‘s still an enemies-to-lovers story. It‘s well-written, with character development, but apparently I only enjoy romances in December. And I‘m also a bit of a prude ‘cos I don‘t like the spicy bits!
Book 13/60, page 3,602/18,000 #Read2025 @DieAReader

Why do I do this to myself?
I'm not a Romance person, I hate the tropes and can tell from the first chapter who the love interest will be.
But still once a year I try a Romance novel.
So please know that it's not the book reflected in my rating, but my personal feelings towards Romances in general.
I should just stop torturing myself.

This was so sweet, I got all weepy at the end, which is totally the fault of @KadaGul who recommended it for #auldlangspine 🤣 so so good! It also got me a #bookspinbingo which rarely happens! @monalyisha @TheAromaofBooks
Ps I have a few of the others you recommended, but I didn‘t get to them yet. I look forward to reading them, though!
Soft pick. My least favorite Emily Henry so far. I was really surprised I didn‘t enjoy this more! It had more of a chick-lit feel than a romance vibe. I guess I‘m a People We Meet on Vacation and a Beach Read girlie!! 3/5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5

It‘s National Book Lover‘s Day, one of my favorite days!
I started to read at the age of four, self taught, and books have been my life savers. They gave me hope when I had none, taught me to be kind, honesty and empathy when I received none & changed my life.
They shaped me into the person that I am today & have provided to me so many wonderful people and memories!
Books are truly life transforming! Happy National Book Lover‘s Day!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is my 5th time reading this book, so I don‘t think a full review is necessary. There are so many parts I still find very funny or highly emotional, even the fifth time through. And Julia Whelan‘s perfect narration just heightens all of that.
If you haven‘t read it, please do.

I get so sucked into these rom-com books. Even though they are predictable and do follow certain tropes, I nevertheless find them difficult to put away.
I did appreciate the intertwining love stories here - between the two lead characters but also the familial love between the sisters.
5🌟
Emily Henry's books are perfect. I read through them with a constant smirk on my face and the occasional tear. She nails snarky banter and can accurately depict the littlest moments that make a relationship, like the lingering warmth from a kiss on a forehead or the feeling of a heartbeat through a wool sweater. She gives the same giddy happiness as Gilmore Girls. Her characters always stay with me long after the book is over 💖
It is the most perfect weather to sit outside and start a new book today! 🌞😎 How could I not?
Happy Earth Day, friends! I hope you have the chance to enjoy something beautiful today. 🌼
💚🌎💙
I am not much of a romance reader but someone gave me this book and I needed something lighter to read. I liked the beginning, then skimmed through the romance bits in the middle and was feeling “blah” by the end because all these types of books are really predictable. The so-so rating is more because i don‘t enjoy romance, but I am sure that those who do would give this a pick.
My first Emily Henry book, enjoyed this one. Looking forward to my next one.
Got books from the library. So excited to read them. Dont know which one to read though.
This book reminded me of the 90s rom com “you‘ve got mail”. It was light, funny, but swallowed you up into the story. I loved it. It‘s a love story about people who love books. The best part were the book references in the book. 10/10 recommend!
I think this is my favorite Emily Henry so far. Loved that this book was really two love stories, and I was just as invested in the sisters one as the romantic one.
What a thoroughly lovely book! I loved the characters, the setting, the plot…everything. Nora made me laugh and cry (literally like a baby at the end), and fall along with her. The writing was excellent, the sexual tension was peak, and the spice hit just the right note. My first Emily Henry read, but definitely not my last!
Excellent chemistry, family dynamics, a town I have actually visited….check all the boxes!!🤍💙🤍💙 I really enjoyed this one and wasn‘t ready for it to end. Emily Henry will definitely be a new go-to!!

Ended the week and weekend with a nice glass of Malbec and my bookspin pick.
