I completely enjoyed this book! It is science fiction and philosophy. I found the characters believable. I read Dark Matter first and was happy to have found Blake Crouch!

Outstanding! It starts off kind of sad, but then it picks up. I would describe the book as mystical realism, BUT others have had a different perspective. Read and tell me. The author does a fantastic job of describing the landscape and people.

My first Louise Penny. I didn't realize it was the first of all her books. It was engaging, easy to read. The characters were quirky and well described. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Then I discovered Three Pines on Amazon Prime! They did a great job with characters.

I completely enjoyed this book! I learned about bees and enjoyed a different kind of romance. It was so fun. It was an easy, relaxed read, but was not dumbed down at all.

Wild is a memoir about a 20 something woman's journey of redemption, overcoming grief and finding herself while walking the Pacific Coast Trail. I read this because of my book club. Thank goodness for book clubs! I would never have picked it up otherwise and I am very glad I did. Strayed's descriptions of the trail were excellent and her description of her emotional struggles were intense. I recommend it.

Neil Gaiman is very talented with words. American Gods is a very interesting book. You have to suspend all logic. When you read this book, just go along for the ride and see where it takes you!

This book was so good! The writing was excellent. It made me want to read more of austen' books and her biography! The time travel aspect adds a twist that makes it even more enjoyable!

I read this book because of my book club. Thank goodness for book clubs! It is definitely dated. It takes place in 1915ish. Zane Grey books were made into TV shows and influenced movies and television long after his death. The author was excellent at describing Utah. The character development was a little over the top for me. Some of the relationship descriptions were a little confusing, but as I kept reading I figured it out!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a WWII historical novel, although with a different perspective. I learned about the silk trade in England during WWII.
I thought the character development was solid. These were flawed but decent characters and thoroughly relatable.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable book. Quirky characters, sad stories, but ultimately a happy ending. Great musical description! That was the real draw of this book. It was easy to read and be in the story.

I dreaded reading this book. It was a book club pick. Thank goodness for book clubs! The writing was solid, but the important thing is it was a story that needed to be told.

Amor Towles wrote “A Gentleman in Moscow.“ After I read that one, I had to read another by.him. I wasn't disappointed at all! While I do believe the “Gentleman“ is better, this one was still a page turner.

Tis book was outstanding! Some people have told me the beginning was slow, but I was intrigued from the beginning. The writing! It read like a classic novel. The author's word choices were outstanding. The character development was excellent. I honestly cannot describe how much I enjoyed this book. I recommend it strongly!

It was mystical and factual at the same time. Kristen Hammel did not disappoint. It is a historical novel during WWII but it is different from others. The writing was descriptive. I recommend this one.

This book was outstanding! It is not a book I would have picked up, but I am so glad my book club decided to read it! As I was reading it, I was worried that it would have a very sad ending. I have to I have hopeful and it was beautiful. There are very sad themes... but.. juat read it. The writing was seamless and the story flowed.

It was so good! A total of 178 pages. It was descriptive, fantastical and disturbing. I loved it and didn't want to put it down!

This book was enjoyable. It was a slow starter for me. I thought the main character was interesting, I didn't relate to her in the beginning but I liked her. Later in the book, I got frustrated with her as the story went on but sympathized. The story got more interesting as it unfolded. If you want to read a book that has some depth, but an easier read, this is a good choice.

Sherlockmarie Great review. I‘ll look it up. 3y

I would not recommend this book at all. I disliked all the characters. I am so sorry I read this book. All the characters are shallow. They are evil, but they even do evil pathetically.

violabrain I agree with you completely. I do not understand the appeal of this book at all. 3y
terryduncan5719 Right? Ugh. I am not alone. I'd like to hear why some people liked it. 3y
Sherlockmarie I read this one with you Terry and felt the same. We kept telling each other to finish it but not sure I‘d do that now. I‘d also love to hear what people like about it. 3y
RickW Not sure if I can do justice but the book has so much richness in its character development & odes to classic literature. It‘s also a relatively realistic look at a lot of pretentious college kids who take their social superiority to obnoxious levels. They are unstable kids with a narcissistic professor. They‘re taught and believe in fables & fantasy but begin to use it to do evil to “feel free.” It‘s a tale of upper middle class youth gone awry. 2y
terryduncan5719 RickW, everything you said about the story is true. I have realized that while I can read books and stories with sad and even unresolved endings, I have to have some hope at the end. At the very least, somebody to root for and appreciate. 2y

This book was fantastic. A classic novel by the author who wrote the short story "The Lottery". Great descriptive writing. What is interesting is what the author leaves out. You won't know where the story is going until the very end. There are so many unanswered questions. I recommend this book. Added bonus... it is only 146 pages long.

This book is about the Diamond Princess cruise ship quarantined off the coast of Japan. The beginning is a description of their crusing experience and trips in port and about the second third it gets into the trauma of being forced to stay on the ship in the cabin for two weeks and then again in San Antonio. I didn't enjoy the beginning, but when the author talked about the quarantine it got interesting.

Excellent! I highly recomend this book. It was a very interesting perspective. If you have ever questioned your life, you will appreciate this story. The writing was very descriptive. The main character was pretty 3 dimensional, you did get to know her. I didn't always like her, but I did feel I got to know her and I was rooting for her.

Silo | Hugh Howey

I enjoyed it very much. The author made his world come to life with very descriptive phrases and word choices. Characters were well developed. I admit I didn't understand what the "architect" of Silo's goal was. I got the gist of it, but if someone can explain what the goal was, I would love to hear it! Even without fully grasping the reason for the silos, the story was fully understandable and enjoyable!

Sherlockmarie Great. I‘ve never heard of it. 3y

This was a really interesting book. It is categorized as science fiction and it is futuristic, but it is really a story about caring, fear and faith. The writing is descriptive and well done. The ending was a bit unsettling but totally appropriate for this book.

This short book was a very interesting read. The story unfolds backwards following the provenance of a fictional Vermeer painting. For me, the story started slow, because it took a while to grasp how the author waa telling her story. It got more and more interesting as I continued.

Excellent! Excellent! I loved this story of women. The story switches between the 1st and 2nd world war and the experiences of the women who lived then. The author effectively and seamlessly showed the unique challenges faced by women during this time period. I was there and invested in all the characters, even the secondary characters! I strongky reccommend this book!

It was very enjoyable! I like how the author switched from past to present and tied the characters together. I found the ending unsatisfying, because I wanted more information about what happened to the characters. I guess that means it was good, since I wanted more!
