3.5/5
Phew! This was a long one. Overall, I liked the story and found myself very much entranced in some parts. However, there were other parts that were drawn out and all the sex was getting a bit boring. I also didn‘t love the sexism and violence against women. I know this was the sentiment at the time, but still... I didn‘t like it. 😒 I did find the story entertaining so I‘ll be continuing the series. And, I‘m going to finally start the show!

cathipink I feel like I should pick this one up, as so many love it, but it's not necessarily my thing and it's *so long*. I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on the next book! 14h
nelehelen @cathipink i think you should! It is long, but some parts do go fast. I read it so i can watch the series! 2h

Finished. Now to wait for season 5 in February. I honestly though it would take me a lot longer to read drums and this one before season 5 but here I am. I do t want to blur the edges of the rest of the series so I will wait to read #6

Had to look at past GR lists to find some of these answers. I went by page numbers listed in GR.
1. The Importance of Being Earnest 76 pages
2. The Fiery Cross 1443 pages
3. Anne of Green Gables
4. On kindle but the most recently published is The Art Of Theft

I‘ve been slowly making my way through the Outlander books this year. They‘re chunksters so I just read a bit at a time. Book 3 clocks in at 1,300 pages so it‘s taken me awhile, but I finally got sucked in this week at 60%. Season 3 is actually my favorite in the show so naturally I loved this one. From Boston to Scotland, the open seas, Jamaica and finally Georgia, Voyager is aptly named and full of adventure. Looking forward to starting book 4!

CoverToCoverGirl I‘ve been reading this series from the very beginning, early ‘90‘s, it is exceptional. I‘m impatiently awaiting her next one, it‘s been 51/2 years since her last one was published. (edited) 5d

I want to read the series, but wonder if it is worth since I have seen the show? Any opinions would be helpful! #outlander

Kimberlone I would definitely still recommend the first book...it‘s really good especially if the Jamie/Claire romance is your favorite part of the show (edited) 1w
Liatrek I would defiantly recommend reading the books. I love the series but there is just something about book Jaimie and Claire ❤️❤️ 1w
sprainedbrain I adore the books... the show does a really good job of bringing them to life but the books are so rich and detailed. If you enjoy immersing yourself in great big, sprawling books, I definitely recommend. 7d
Mariposa_Bookworm If you are worried about the size of the books, listen to them on audio. The narrator, Davina Porter, is PHENOMENAL!!!! I‘m re-reading them on audio on my commute. Amazing! 7d
Birdsong28 Yes! I watched the TV series and then got the audiobooks as I knew that it would take a while for me to physically read them. As I watched before I read them it helped me to picture certain scenes. Also the audiobooks helped me get through the longer more descriptive passages and things that I thought dragged the story and @Mariposa_Bookworm is correct as Davina Porter makes these books, I hope she is back for the last two! 📚 📖 7d

Watching then reading this series. I love them both for their own reasons. Show: oh that James Fraser. Book: the details that I miss history wise are explained to me beautifully! It‘s a win/win situation.

Eh, this book was a tease. And kinda icky at times, but not in a hot way.
