Reread Ready Player One and it's still great, but Ready Player Two suuuuucks sooooooo baaaaaad. I wanted to like it, but it's unlikable. Save yourself the frustration and skip it, even if you're a fan of the first one. It's just bad. 😬🤷‍♀️

Kimberlone I didn‘t *hate* RP2, but was profoundly disappointed, and I agree it should be avoided if you want to save the magic of the first book. 10mo
Bits @Kimberlone Agreed! Profoundly disappointed. 😒 10mo
Reagan You are so right, RP2 is terrible. 10mo
TheAromaofBooks I definitely struggled a lot more with RP2. I didn't exactly regret reading it, but while I definitely see myself rereading RP1, I'll never revisit RP2. It was so much clunkier & felt like it was trying too hard. I also felt like the ending was not satisfying. 10mo
Bits @TheAromaofBooks Definitely clunky and forced. I found the quests painfully slow and bogged down. I wanted to see the characters through to the end, but you're right, the end was just meh. Oh well! It's off my TBR! 😆 10mo

@MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm tagged me to pick my top ten fantasy/sci-fi books!

Two seconds later: “How am I supposed to pick just ten? Whose idea was this?! This is cruel!“ 😂
Made some deep cuts, it was traumatic, but here they are: The Top Ten!

The end of Ch 26 is 🔥 👏 🔥
“It was impossible for her to be insensible of Mr. Crawford's change of manners. She had long seen it. He evidently tried to please her - he was gallant - he was attentive - he was something like what he had been to her cousins: he wanted, she supposed, to cheat her of her tranquility as he had cheated them; and whether he might not have some concern in this necklace! - She could not be convinced that he had not...“ ⬇

Elon is a fitting representation of Crawford, no? 😆

Unpopular opinion: I don't hate Henry...? I'm not sure why. All signs point to you should probably hate him... 🤔 I'm holding out hope though. 🤦 Like Maria waiting for him to make his move. I'm Maria... Oh god. 😬

KVanRead PERFECT 🤩 1y
nanuska_153 I don't hate him either, Edmund gets on my nerves though 1y
Bits @nanuska_153 I like Henry way better than Ed so far! 😬 I feel like Henry at least owns his douchiness whereas Ed is a douche but doesn't know it. I also think it's interesting that Fanny is SO judgmental of everyone's tiniest flaws except Ed's. 🙄 1y
See All 8 Comments
nanuska_153 @Bits that's exactly it!Edmund thinks so highly of himself and is all day lecturing everybody and then he is as selfish and foolish as the rest. Henry is a dog, but he never pretended he is a noble spirit. Fanny is judgemental of everyone's flaws but Edmund's; Edmund can't forgive faults on anyone but on Mary Crawford...we are all fools in love, but Edmund loves too much his high horse for me not to think him a perpetual fool 😂 1y
Bits @nanuska_153 Yes! And you put that so much more eloquently! 😁😆 I am dying to know how it all turns out now that henry's hat is in the ring... I don't think I'll last too much longer with chapter a day! 1y
nanuska_153 @Bits can't wait until you finish and see what you think! 1y
Bits @nanuska_153 Le sigh... 😪💔👎 Ugh I just wanted Henry to be better. The Crawfords were fun and halfway normal compared to our eternal sticks in the mud, I mean heroes. I did come around to Fanny and her sound judgment towards the end and I had to internally cringe-laugh at how exactly like Maria I was waiting for Henry to come around. If I were in Fanny's shoes I clearly would have fallen for his BS. 🤪 They can't all be Mr. Darcy, can they? 14mo
nanuska_153 @Bits same here, all the time I was just wanted someone to come and appreciate Fanny (even though I didn't really appreciate her much xD) and Henry really did,so I went all in with him.It also killed me that Austen confirms in the last chapter that if he hadn't gave into temptation Fanny would have accepted him and they'd be happy.Ugh...thanks..I think with this book Austen just wanted to annoy us with both characters and story to criticize society 14mo

Chapter 23:
Someone has dinner table envy... Along with being jealous of Fanny about everything. What is this lady's deal? Is it about Fanny's mom? Does Mrs. N see herself/her inferior place compared to Lady B in Fanny and take out misplaced self-hatred on her? Is she just so insecure that she needs to put someone else down? What 👏 is👏 the 👏deal? Cuz I want to physically harm this woman. 😡😤😡

This was my first Stephen King (won't be the last) and first horror genre book. I went in with a very open mind and not really knowing anything about the story other than pop-culture references to the movie. It exceeded all vaguely-formed expectations. Definitely a pick!

Solid. Being a collection of previously published short stories, it got a bit repetitive and formulaic, which I found both eye-rolly and comforting at the same time.
Holmes is just a genuinely fun character to read. Even when he's being insufferable, there's just a charm there.
I started to list my fav stories in this collection and realized I was basically naming them all, so it's pretty good! A lot of iconic Holmes-ness in this one! 🧐🔍🕵️‍♀️

I love how Steinbeck writes people and places on the fringes of society without any judgment and allows you to exist so completely in an obscure little microcosm that you would never otherwise know. It's friggin' beautiful.
I found the dedication page way suspicious and after reading and falling in love with Doc, I was super pleased to learn that Doc is in fact Ed Ricketts (who is a straight fox and legend in his own right!) How cool is that? 😍
