This was very slow going for me but in the end I did enjoy it. The world building alone (magic carpet rides!) was enough to keep me coming back to this book. I hope the rest of the trilogy expands the world but also brings a bit more excitement as I didn't feel like much happened in these 500+ pages. There was a great deal of focus on racial tensions and politics which added to the depth of the world but I would have liked more adventures.

Texreader Hmmm this one‘s on my tbr and I‘m wondering if I should keep it there. I really don‘t like boring books. 2d

I've officially finished all the stories of the Bridgerton siblings! Anthony and Benedict's were my favourites. Eloise and Gregory's are the ones I cared for the least. I found the series declined a bit once Whistledown was exposed. And the parts that involved the family being together were by far the most entertaining.

This was fantastic. Such an impressive and honest memoir. I went into this with no expectations, I'm not even a big fan, but this made me have a greater appreciation for how hard he worked for his accomplishments. I want to go back and rewatch all of his movies. I can't think of a single slow moment or any point where my interest waned. Stunning cover! I recommend watching the video on how the cover was made.

I didn't love this as much as I thought I would. I kept comparing it to The Poppy War which I don't think helped my opinion. I enjoyed the eunuchs storyline but I never became attached to the monks. She didn't have much of a personality, she used everyone and I never believed in her motivations. Unsure if I'll continue this series.

For 2022 after seeing everyone else's lists, I want to try some of the reading challenges. I've never really planned out my reading year before but I thought it might be an interesting goal. I'll probably try the #pop22 and then either the #booked2022 , #bookedreadingchallenge or #52booksin52weeks. My added goal is going to be to see if I can do most of the prompts with my existing tbr on my shelves. Excited to make my lists! #bookshelves

I really can't decide how I feel about this one. I had really high hopes that this would be a book I loved and maybe that's part of the problem. The plot was awesome but I found Juliette hard to like, Roma didn't have much of a personality and 1920s Shanghai didn't have enough worldbuilding. And they spend the majority of the book hating each other. I'll finish off this series because the book did improve near the end.

While I'm disappointed there won't be more mythology stories, Riordan can do no wrong. It still feels like a typical Riordan adventure book which I'm happy about. Since I had read the Verne books as well I felt like it added to the experience. I can't wait to read future under water adventures and see what he comes up with next.

Well I finished it and I have to say I don't understand the popularity. Yes I thought the world was unique and well done but the characters were not overly likeable and nothing really happened. I still want to see the movie cause it looks amazing but the book I just found boring.

This book is a slow burn in a really interesting setting. The mystery was complex and I will definitely pick up the next one to see where it goes. The only thing I struggled with was that this book was very dark and none of the characters were overly likeable. Bardugo is likely going for the idea that there's no such thing as a perfect hero but at times it I found it hard to read. A very original mystery.

This didn't work for me. I found it longer than it needed to be and rather boring. I enjoyed the heroine but no one else stood out to me. This didn't have the magical feel that I normally get from a Beauty and the Beast retelling. I likely won't be continuing this series as reviews seem to say this was the best book of the trilogy. I am a sucker for a pretty cover though.

I loved the magic and descriptions in this novel. The author created a unique magical world in modern day that was refreshing. I did this as an audiobook which was fine but I think I would have followed it better reading because there are lots of characters and time jumps to keep track of. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was so much fun! Dragons have been 'tamed' and are used as modes of transportation. Abel finds himself caught between his siblings and rival gangs and must enter a dragon battle to save his family and win the dragons back their freedom. The world is fantastic, I loved the dragon lessons and all of the neat little details. Can't wait for the next one! It was marketed as Fast and the Furious with dragons which it lives up to.

I took the first of these books out of the library after seeing this ad for the new show on hbo max. I'm so glad I did! This is a fun series about a girl who lives in a museum and sees curses on ancient Egyptian artifacts. She meets a secret brotherhood and must convince her parent to travel to Egypt so she can save Britain. I'm super excited for the show now and will definitely be reading the rest of her adventures.

I don't even know what to say about this book. It was amazing, I completely get the hype now, I was emmersed in the bloody worldbuilding, and anxiety ridden in the battles. I can't remember the last time I was so lost in a story that I completely lost track of time. The pacing was perfect, and writing this story Interview with a Vampire style was genius. This will be my favorite read of 2021 and one of my favorites of all time. #mustread

All caught up on my Marissa Meyer's books and ready for the release of Gilded. The second book in this trilogy was my favourite but I love all the characters. I also thought Meyer did an amazing job of writing from both sides (heroes and villians) showing how one can never be defined by one ideal but a complicated mix. Really fun!

I wanted to love this book but I found it a little boring. I think this could have been amazing but it was lacking in several areas. I don't think the world building was great, Kallia was the same person throughout, she didn't have an arc and nothing was really explained until the end in the cliffhanger which I'm not sure it was enough for me to read the next one. Also some background into her life may have helped. But such a beautiful cover!

Kate Quinn called this author the next Madeline Miller and I had my doubts. But this Camelot retelling was incredible and I understand the comparison to Circe. Following Elaine of Shalott was fascinating, I had never heard of her. I was completely immersed in this world and never wanted it to end. A beautiful retelling that will stay with me for a long time. #mustread #highlyrecommend #bestof2021

I love the cover and the villain of the woods but that was about it. I think I was disappointed from the start when I learned there wasn't a real dragon. I also didn't understand the romantic relationship, they barely liked each other. The characters were not likeable. I think what bothered me most was the magic system. For a girl who didn't know she was a witch for 17 years she became powerful very suddenly. And it was just so boring.

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I didn't love it either. Spinning Silver was better though. 4mo
