Alright Team #BFC2022! It‘s optional mid-month bonus time. To earn a bonus, either comment below or tag me in a post.

Self-care is super important. We often focus all our energy on others & have nothing left for ourselves. But how can we care for others if we don‘t first care for ourselves? Plus, it sets a good example.

New to #BFC2022? Find out more on my original post: https://www.litsy.com/web/post/2334973 Then tag me in your goal post.

coffees I think it varies for me. Rn (winter/cold days) anything that gets me out of bed is self-care. So like going on walks or just leaving my house, cooking recently has helped too since I'm out of bed but also eating something healthier than store bought, moving around, plus, i usually video call my mom so that's always nice 😆 2y
Lesanne So far I‘m doing pretty well with being active at least 3 days a week. Not so much with my reading goals!! ☺️ 2y
Jerdencon I would say my most effective self care goal is taking time for me - even if it‘s just quietly reading for 10 minutes before bed… not talking to anyone, not doing anything for anyone, and not thinking about all the things I have to do. 2y
TheAromaofBooks Getting out for a walk is probably my biggest one. Something about it helps clear my mind and get things in order. Even when I'm tired, walking almost always makes me feel better. 2y
Susanita While working from home, I discovered the importance of stepping outside for a few minutes to get some sunshine and fresh air. I still do that every day unless the weather is really gross, and in that case I retreat to the bedroom and listen to music. 2y
AbigailJaneBlog For me it's communication. I used to be the kind of person who didn't talk about things, but now I find so much peace in talking through stuff. 2y
OriginalCyn620 One of my favorite self care activities is keeping my hands pretty and soft as possible - I get regular manicures and do hand masks often! As much as I see my hands (and other people too), it just makes me feel better to take care of them, as silly as it may sound. A close second is walking outside when I can. I love to take in a bit of nature while playing my favorite music! 2y
bthegood Part of my self care is being lovingly honest and assertive, not going along with others when it doesn't feel right,🥰 2y
Roary47 I have a few things: 1.) just watching my chickens walking around, 2.) Sitting in the garden under the tree. 3.) Putting the kids to bed and taking care of my hands, feet, or just doing my own activities in my room. 4.) taking a nap. 😊💛 2y
Laughterhp For self care I do a couple of things, mostly getting out of the house and walking. I try to do it every day (except in winter). My other thing is getting a pedicure every couple of months and a manicure. 2y
CoffeeNBooks I've been trying to remember to pamper myself with face masks. I also love to sit outside and breathe in the fresh air, and watch the birds visiting the bird feeder and bird bath I put in my yard at the beginning of the pandemic. It's very relaxing. The biggest self-care change I've made recently is to stop bringing work home with me- no working in the evenings and on the weekends when that's my time to relax and spend time with my family. 2y
Nute I‘m not participating on your team, but I sure did enjoy reading everyone‘s posts. Such wonderful self care activities! Thanks to @coffees @Lesanne @Jerdencon @TheAromaofBooks @Susanita @AbigailJaneBlog @OriginalCyn620 @bthegood @Roary47 @Laughterhp @CoffeeNBooks 💜 And a special thanks to you, Lynn!💕 2y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick At least twice a week I stay at work late, which sounds counterintuitive but isn't. I have an office in the back of a conference room at a hotel & after hours I'm generally left alone. I can read, write letters, add to my reading journal, or even exercise in the conference room. If a day is particularly stressful, I'll do the same at lunch, or take a walk. I just know that once I'm home my guy, my dog, chores, & cooking generally come first. 2y
BarkingMadRead Wednesdays are my self care days. I teach yoga and then I grab a book and go to Panera and read for an hour while I eat breakfast and slooooowly drink an iced tea. They know my name and my order there 🤣 I also take a bath at least once a week with bubbles or a bath bomb and read 2y
PageShifter I have found that team sports do good! I see people and making blood circulate my mood is also so much better after game. I have played badminton several months now after regulations allowed it and started padel couple weeks ago. 2y
TheAromaofBooks @Roary47 - Oh my gosh, why are chickens so destressing to watch?? I love watching mine putter about. They're just so industrious and curious, I love to sit and watch them scritch around! 2y
TK-421 Napping is my favourite self-care activity. I allow myself a 45 minute nap after work with a cozy heated blanket, listening to Max Richter‘s “Sleep”. A short nap gives me the energy to get on with the rest of my day - whether that‘s cooking supper, doing laundry or dishes, writing, or going for a walk! 2y
Moonprismpower I try to write things down that I cannot say out loud. It gets out of my head that way. And walking in the fresh air helps. And I‘m trying to remove noise from my day, I can fill the silence with podcasts but sometimes the silence is better for me. 2y
MelAnn 10 minutes minimum every day outside in the sun. 2y
NovelGirl82 I try to take at least 10-15 minutes every morning, before my day starts, to sit in silence, meditate, breathe, whatever- just to myself. This helps start my day with a calmer spirit. It‘s been very helpful, especially this past few weeks, when things have been so hectic and difficult at work. 2y
marleed Walking outside is my best form of self-care. However dragging my mood may be as I head out my door, it‘s always improved after I walk. Honestly it‘s my church as much as it is my exercise. After living out of state for 5 years, I returned to my large house and downsized by 2/3 and moved again. Walkability of area trumped the actual purchase of my little house. 2y
Julsmarshall Like @marleed , walking has become my daily dose of calm, of medicine, of meditation. And walking outside is especially helpful, the fresh air, sunshine, and time alone are all part of what fills me up. If the weather is bad, the treadmill will work too but it isn‘t as fulfilling. I treasure my walks now and feel like I‘ll take care of myself this way forever. 2y
Read4life I turn on the twinkle lights, cuddle up with my dog, have my tea, coffee or cocoa and watch something on TV. It‘s something no one else in the house watches so it‘s just relaxing. If Sherlock and I fall asleep, that‘s ok, too. 💙 2y
Moll I love this thread - thanks for sharing everyone😊 I think a really key one at the moment for me is Yoga & just trying to remain as mindful as possible. I also love a long bath with a book and a face mask❤ 2y
britt_brooke I have a few, but it‘s hard to find time sometimes: a long, hot bath 🛁, puzzle time 🧩, meditation🧘🏼‍♀️, and listening to podcasts 🎧. Reading, too, of course. 2y
Lynnsoprano Long walks and taking pictures of plants/flowers. I also view my WW (Weight Watchers) journey as self care. 2y
Bookgoil Reading, playing with my dogs, going out to brunch or dinner with a friend, I also game and I think anyone can find casual gaming fun even on their phone. Rewatching animated films you love. 2y
5280reader For me it‘s a nice bubble bath with candles. Starting to get into yoga and now look forward to that time to breathe, move, and center myself. 2y

wanderinglynn @TheAromaofBooks yes, walking always makes me feel better too, especially those times when it‘s the last thing I want to do. 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @Susanita fresh air & sunshine & music are all wonderful balms for the soul. 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @AbigailJaneBlog communication is key 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @OriginalCyn620 not silly at all. I love getting a pedi for the same reason. 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @bthegood yes, saying no & setting boundaries is important to self-care 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @Roary47 love all those things! 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @Laughterhp I try to do both of those things too 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @CoffeeNBooks love it! 🙌🏻 Leaving work at work is awesome! 2y
wanderinglynn @Nute yes, this is a wonderful dialogue. 💜 And you & everyone are welcome to participate whether or not they‘re doing #BFC2022 2y

wanderinglynn @PageShifter awesome! 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @TK-421 naps are wonderful! 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @Moonprismpower love it! 🙌🏻 Writing is an incredibly powerful way to release. I also will sometimes go the extra step & burn way I wrote to fully release it. 2y
wanderinglynn @MelAnn excellent! 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @NovelGirl82 fantastic! 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @marleed yes, I‘ve found the same thing when I walk. A place with high walkability is key. 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @Julsmarshall excellent! 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @Read4life love it! 🙌🏻 Especially the twinkle lights—amazing how something so small can make a big difference. 2y
wanderinglynn @Moll yes, this is a wonderful dialogue. And yoga is excellent self-care 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @britt_brooke puzzle time! 💚🧩 one of my faves. 🙌🏻 The key is carving out time, which is the challenge for most of us. 2y
wanderinglynn @Lynnsoprano fantastic! 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @Bookgoil all fabulous options! 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @5280reader awesome! 🙌🏻 2y
Chelseabillups30 Every Friday I set aside time to do whatever I want with the day. I order cookies from my favorite cookie place nearest me (flavors rotate weekly) and will read, binge watch my favorite shows, work on a diamond painting project….I forget about whatever the world is demanding of me and focus on ways to rest and recharge!! 2y
wanderinglynn @Chelseabillups30 excellent! 🙌🏻 I especially love the cookie part! 😋 2y
katy4peas I knit, play sudoku, and listen to an audiobook or watch a tv show. 2y
MoMogrl My workouts are self care. I've also gotten much better separating work and home. Trying to get regular walks in helps me too... During the cold months it is so hard. 2y
BookishBelle Working out most days after work is self care for me. Also, some quiet time alone before bed to read and meditate is a must. 2y
wanderinglynn @katy4peas fantastic! 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @MoMogrl great! And yes, it is difficult during winter, especially when it so dark as well as cold. 🙌🏻 2y
wanderinglynn @BookishBelle awesome! 🙌🏻 2y
TheDaysGoBy Listening to music. Or taking a relaxing bath - used to take them tons years ago but recently took one with some music and candles lit and it was really nice 2y
wanderinglynn @TheDaysGoBy excellent! 🙌🏻 2y
Crazeedi I've been making different recipes, working in my kitchen makes me happy. When I want to run away, I head to my craft room and make something, or I jump in bed and snuggle under my heated blanket. Of course summer my happy place is my garden and flowers. All year I spend time watching the birds, and the deer that live on the farm, yesterday we saw 16 eating the corn we put out!! 2y
wanderinglynn @Crazeedi fantastic! 🙌🏻 2y
Jennifer3 I listen to audiobooks or podcasts on my commute. Or I experiment in the kitchen with new recipes. I take time to do a Colorstreet manicure or a spa like shower followed by a face mask. 2y
wanderinglynn @Jennifer3 wonderful! 🙌🏻 2y
Bookwormjillk What a great thread! I try to get outside for at least 15 minutes a day for fresh air. It‘s not a huge amount of time but just that little bit restores me. Usually I walk but even sitting on the porch works. 2y
wanderinglynn @Bookwormjillk yes! Such a great thread. Lots of good ideas for self-care, like yours. 🙌🏻 2y
Cheshirecat913 Thanks for the thread! I liked reading the responses. I echo all those that said walking outside. Bonus points and serenity if it is a dirt trail with trees involved. 2y
wanderinglynn @Cheshirecat913 yes, totally agree. A dirt trail through the trees is ideal! 🙌🏻 2y

So, I keep forgetting this is actually a thing I saved to do and keep forgetting to keep up with whether or not I actually do it. Anyway, I finally remembered today to keep up with it. I haven't been feeling the best, but I did go outside and enjoy the stars with my dad a bit.
