Such a powerful read- and so accessible to adults and teens. Poignant scenes and such honesty wrapped with some heartwarming, funny episodes. The audiobook version really touched my heart. We all matter!

A great historical fiction novel following 3 women in WWII. Some storylines were more compelling than others but I really enjoyed listening to each voice through and after the war. Interested in picking up her next book Lost Roses to read as well.

Fantastic historical fiction sharing one woman‘s journey through life as her village succumbs to plague in the 1660‘s. Makes one grateful for all that we have today. As others have shared, the ending was abrupt and not something I was expecting. Don‘t let that stop you from undertaking this sad yet hopeful book. #litsyatoz2019 4/26 #lettery

Libby1 I hated the ending! It really twisted the history in a nasty way, almost like slandering one long dead. I‘ve been to the town and the story is heroic. I‘m glad you enjoyed the book! 4mo

Oh fortuna! I wish I had the time back from reading this book. Just a clan of misfit characters interacting in New Orleans. Not impressed by Ignatius J. Reilly and his oafish and selfish demeanor. Didn‘t want to give up on this as it was a #gar but should have... At least I got C out of it #litsyatoz 3/26

Mehso-so

Whew! Warning- only listen to the audiobook if you like shrill sounds. Like high pitched dog whistles and scratches on chalkboard... story was decent... a little less cute and awkward than Sophie‘s other books. Please heed my advice and try the actual book :)

Have you ever had an audiobook reader just not ‘work‘ with the story? This reader just seems stuffy and older while Sophie‘s characters should sound younger, muddling through awkward situations. Grrr... I‘ll keep listening....

What do you read for in Dan Brown books? For me, I love the history, art, and architecture aspects. This book did not disappoint for that. Loved learning about Gaudi‘s work!
