Hoping to finish St. Pat‘s on St. Barts by the 31st for #TitlesandTunes.
The others will probably fall in June since I have several buddy reads and I‘m reading The Fixer with my daughter for Junes #TitlesandTunes.

Made a little field trip yesterday to the indie book store that‘s about 40 minutes away from me & decided to grab this one for #CampLitsy23 June. (I already have Bandit Queens on Kindle.) They had one copy so it was kismet & I picked up a cute tote bag & bookmarks.

I listened to my current audiobook on the drive & stopped at a few other places including my favorite natural food store for their vegetarian hot food bar for lunch, so a great day!🌺

squirrelbrain Glad you managed to grab that last copy! 19h
AmyG Nice! Last copy? A sign it was for you. 19h

We‘ve got some beautiful EARLY lilies in this week‘s #BookReport thanks to the warm weather in February!

The tagged graphic memoir was my favorite book this week. Malaka looks back on her childhood visits to her dad and stepmom in Egypt and how their relationship evolved. Fancy Bear was an incredibly interesting look into the world of 5 noteworthy hacking incidents that show their evolution. Stone Angel was lovely @vivastory ! Thanks for ⬇️

Megabooks Putting it on your #nywd/#ALSpine list! I‘m glad I finally got to it. Honest is great if you love those messy family books like Jennifer Close‘s. A Southern family gets together for a funeral then a wedding. BQ reread for #CampLitsy23!! @BarbaraBB is so on top of it and has some great questions in store! Electric I just finished and learned a lot of about the history and cutting edge of study of our body‘s electrobiome! (edited) 20h
Megabooks Flux was really confusing and a bit of a disappointment. 🤷🏻‍♀️ glad it wasn‘t chosen for CL and I nominated it. 😂 Dear was an interesting look at ballet and its relationship to women and their bodies, particularly in regards to Balanchine. I probably wasn‘t interested enough in the topic to rate it high. Maame was a bit of a disappointment but 🤐 because it was for #LMPBC! (edited) 20h
squirrelbrain I agree Meg, @BarbaraBB has some fabulous questions for BQ! I have Maame on my physical TBR shelf, but I‘m not drawn to it at the moment. 🤷‍♀️ 20h

Megabooks @Cinfhen I can‘t believe we agree about two books! Maame was definitely MEH. 🫤 (edited) 19h
Megabooks @squirrelbrain you can definitely put it off imo. Just okay. 19h
Cinfhen Hahaha ~ so true!!! 19h

I‘ve switched it up almost entirely for my June #bookspin and #bookspinbingo. I put in all of my #14booksin14weeks and some of the #camplitsy23 books so I can fail at three things at once. 🤣🤣🤣 I also put in a couple of books people have asked to borrow/have in hopes it gets me to read them quickly and get them out of my house. @TheAromaofBooks

JamieArc Fail at three things at once 😆😆. Good luck! 22h

#weeklyforecast I have no interest in the #camplitsy23 choices, and library wait times are so long I have to buy them, which irritates me, but #FOMO wins for now 🤦🏻‍♀️😂. I only read Nightmare Man in the middle of the day when it is sunny, and since we‘ve had rain for days, it‘s slow going. Up next: I won a copy of book 4 of Monster Slaying, so I am listening to the first 3 to catch up, plus 2 library holds I‘ll pick up this week.

Cinfhen FOMO is no joke 😅 23h
bthegood I enjoyed Nightmare Man - very creepy - looking forward to your review - 🙂 7h

E.Bolhafner @TrishB thanks! I have seen June and July both on various posts and of course there are a zillion and one posts tagged with camplitsy so the whole original post/calendar is not easily findable.

Megabooks Hi @E.Bolhafner ! I‘ll be leading the YF discussion. We‘ll be discussing the first half (exact page number tbd) July 8 and the full book July 15. Some people choose to read ahead whether it‘s because a library hold came in or other reasons. We just ask that you avoid discussing major spoilers from the second half the first week for the people that are reading along. Hope this helps! I‘m glad you‘ll be joining us! (edited) 20h
E.Bolhafner @Megabooks thank you! 19h
squirrelbrain @E.Bolhafner - the full order of books for #camplitsy is Bandit Queens, then Birnam Wood in June. July is YF then Hijab Butch Blues. August is Romantic Comedy, then The Memory of Animals. 19h

Pickpick

I finished my first #CampLitsy23 read and I really liked it. It was much darker than I thought. I especially enjoyed the Indian setting, such as Phoolan Devi‘s story and the parts about the Dalits. I also liked the dynamics between the women, their conversations and wittiness. Plenty to discuss next week!

Once I got into it I found the story entertaining, but I'm uncomfortable about cheering on murderers & also, although it is important to cast light on the issues, about the representation of Indian society as told by an expat for consumption by westerners. Plenty to discuss at camp! #CampLitsy23 @BarbaraBB @Megabooks @squirrelbrain

Megabooks I understand what you‘re saying about trivializing murder. There is plenty to discuss with this one. Very much looking forward to your thoughts! 2d
batsy Interesting review! I haven't started yet but your thoughts will be in mind when I read. 1d
Tamra Echoing @batsy I just checked it out from the library. 1d
TrishB Yes, plenty to discuss! 1d

I‘ve marked the first section we‘ll discuss for #camplitsy23 but I‘m worried I won‘t be able to stop reading because it‘s soooo good! I‘ll try to save the second section but I may just have to find out what happens to these characters!

I might‘ve gone a little crazy at the library yesterday looking for some holiday weekend reading material! I have the tagged and Homebodies from the #CampLitsy23 longlist, a couple of graphic memoirs, a Le Guin for June #AuthorAMonth, and three others just because!

Can anyone tell me why it is that I always forget my tote on days I checkout more than 4 books?? 🤣

squirrelbrain Great haul! ❤️ 3d
