I love when it's finally time to open up that book that's been sitting on your shelf for years! I don't know how or why the "right" time presents itself, but who am I to question it? Digging into this title with some brandy-spiked eggnog. Bibliotherapy indeed! #CurrentlyReading #BooksAndBooze #bibliotherapy

This was advertised to me on Facebook today. Has anybody heard of it or done it? I‘m very intrigued by the thought of becoming a bibliotherapist. Which I realize isn‘t a real thing, but it would still be a cool thing to learn about. I‘m very tempted to take the course 🤓
My little free library finds today. Near work, there is a book collection shelf like a little free library.
I seem to have a much fuller ‘social‘ diary during lockdown ! 🤣🤣🤣

I had to try this. I requested asshole repellent. The response made me laugh for sure. I love that they suggested a heavy volume to use as a weapon. 🤣 I think I‘ll try Nancy Mitford first because I have never read anything by her.
Thanks @Mitch for sharing!
⭐️Thanks for posting this @squirrelbrain and @Chrissyreadit I‘ve submitted to Dr Byrne - I‘ll let you know the results!

A list of books to help you through the hard times. I bought several of them immediately https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/apr/05/novelists-pick-books-to-inspire-up...
Are you broke or heartbroken? Feeling restless or filled with road rage? There's a novel for that. Editors Susan Elderkin & Ella Berthoud compiled a delightful book of novel recommendations, sure to #remedy whatever ails you.

I can't remember how I found this one, it might have been on one of my meandering exploring of Goodreads, not sure. So far, I adore this book. I read one book and started another that it recommended, and so far they are both gems. I just wish that it had an index of ailments, not just of authors and titles. This is definitely a work of love.
Ooh, such a sweet & lovely parcel arrived in my mailbox today! Thank you so much, dear Sarah! Your generosity warms my heart and I‘m so looking forward to reading both of the books. ♥️♥️♥️
Unexpected bookmail from the lovely Karen. You are so thoughtful, and the book is perfect (and pretty). Thankyou my friend. ♥️😘📚
This book embraces fiction as a prescription, to soothe our souls, solve our problems, lift our spirits, encourage us to wallow, or remind us of how good we have it.
I love this whimsical dictionary of ailments, and the book suggestions will make your TBR explode! From abandonment to zestlessness, there is ‘Novel‘ suggestion for almost everything!

Rita Collins opened a traveling bookstore and textual apothecary and drives across the country sharing books with others. How cool is that? 📚📚

My little #bookhaul from my trip to Daunts in London today.... I‘m obsessed by the UK cover of ‘Crudo‘ and couldn‘t wait until the January 2019 US release of ‘The Water Cure‘....
Normally I review books on my blog, www.TheBibliophage.com. Today I posted my first product review! This is a small, woman-owned company. The quality of her products is terrific, and the selection of designs, colors and styles is huge. Plus, she‘s offering a DISCOUNT for my blog readers! I hope you‘ll check it out for all the #LitsySwaps happening right now.
p.s. I‘m not an affiliate, nor do I receive free product or any compensation if you buy.
#OneOfUs suffering from queasiness? There‘s a novel for that. How about loss of innocence? There‘s a novel for that too. Think of an ailment or a circumstance, and the authors found a novel that complements it. Can‘t wait to read this! #ABBAinAugust
Sunny Sunday afternoons are the worst for impulse buying 😳
This book is so amazing! I‘ve got a ton of books to read/buy based on the recommendations for certain ailments. My only quibble is that there were definitely spoilers for some books. If you‘re aware of that going in, you‘ll fare better. I‘m just grateful for my awful memory. By the time I get to some of the recs, I‘m sure I‘ll have forgotten the spoilers! 👩🏻⚕️👩🏻⚕️👩🏻⚕️👩🏻⚕️👩🏻⚕️

Of course it was amazing!
This made me laugh so hard! I‘ve never heard of “man flu.”
“Man flu is a miserable illness not just for the victim but for all concerned. Bed rest is essential, and the patient—indeed, ‘victim‘ is probably more apt—will require a great deal of sympathy. The victim should be propped up on soft pillows and provided with mugs of tea, heating pads, meals on trays, the remote control, and messages of support and commiseration regularly.”
Finally at the Fs in this reference work! Enjoying a couple of chapters on a boat ride on the river Shannon!

Don‘t you just love a good cult read?! The reading cure doctors prescribed AMITY AND SORROW and AMERICAN PASTORAL to cure what ails you if you‘ve accidentally been welcomed into a cult.

Bye week started last night... Dallas is off for 5 days, Pens are on break after tonight's game and Leafs are off after their game on Wednesday. All of my teams will be off. 🙁 #readingandlisteningtohockey
When I need a book to rest and breathe I go to dictionary type of books. You can read one entry, two, three... breathe... get yourself a cup of ☕️, a glass of 💧 and suddenly, breathing is easier, calm is not far away... These two: one new, a bibliotherapy dictionary, one old an art history dictionary. #startinganewjanuary
My boyfriend is such a wonderful partner: sweet, sensible and supportive. He always picks great books for me and he gave me this to find great novels to help me through different situations and moods.
#joinin My parents' shelves always deliver something new. This year I found The Novel Cure - an A-Z of literary remedies which is brilliant. The 3 recommended cures for loneliness are Philip Pullman, I, Claudius and the Tales of the City books which are pretty great choices! Happy to give any other remedies for people with a particular symptom!
Shout out to @4thhouseontheleft for making sure Litsy has a #joinin presence this Christmas too!

📚 Sometimes I just sit in my library and look at my books
📚 too often I ignore those very books and read a library ebook instead
📚I spend too much time browsing the library's ebook catalogue, adding books to my wishlist
📚my 1st grader was bugging me to buy stuff at the school's book fair but I had already bought lots of kids books at the last Book Outlet sale I just gave him one of those instead
This book was great! Witty, punny, well-rounded, and useful!!! It has definitely inflated my TBR by at least 10 books (for now, future ailments will require future cures) and, best of all, it introduced me to books/authors/genres that I probably would never have heard of or considered otherwise!
This book was loaned from the library and immediately went on my Wish-List.
I tend to think I don't like sci-fi/don't read it and yet, that's patently untrue, first example being I've read 3 books on this list and enjoyed them immensely.
Maybe I will start considering it more "speculative" than "science" fiction.
I do feel the need for a cure right now, just not sure on my ailment; it's been a nonstop kind of day and I have gotten some shocking news that's really made me question myself and I basically forgot to eat till 2pm and now I know I should eat dinner soon but all I want to do is curl up in a ball beside my dog. #dogsoflitsy

Oh yea, Littens, I know there are some of you out there!
I must admit, while I love books (some just for looks and feel) I only buy ones that I know I'm going to love and want to keep; this does not include garage sale/thrift store cheapies.
