I have been battling pneumonia for two weeks, so I needed a good book to take my mind away and Becky Chambers has done it again. I just love everything about her novels. I loved exploring the Exoden fleet and meeting new characters. Sure, nothing really happens in this book but the characters and the world building are amazing. “From the ground, we stand. From our ships, we live.” By the stars, we hope.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finished my audiobook as I got to work. I loved it! I knew that I would as Gail Carriger is one of my most favorite authors and I love all of her books. I loved the humor. I loved that the book was from the twins perspective. I loved the new discoveries. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I decided to start up my blog again, www.bbookshelf.com. Mostly just for fun. Something to do. Somewhere to post a lot of lists and bookish silliness. This week‘s post is about my almost total lack of vacation reading...because small children. One plus, I did manage to read quite a bit of space opera. It‘s great so far.

I‘ve really been off my game with reading this year. I think it‘s stress and lack of vitamin D (damn you, winter). Let‘s give this a try. There‘s got to be something on mount TBR that will get me out of my slump.

ElyssaReads This winter has seemed to last forever! Hope you enjoy the book and find some sunshine soon! ☀️ 6y

#unpopularopinion I'm surprised she doesn't see her spine, she's gazing so hard at her navel. I think what really just set me off was her pathetic attempt at mic drop against people who don't like ruin porn and just her overall crap behavior. Also, as someone who suffers from anxiety and depression, I have tried to sympathize with the white privileged girl trying to find herself memoirs...and there are some good ones but I just can't tonight.

Bookbeez The artwork is good, so it does have that going for it. 6y

I didn't hate it but it wasn't love either. It was more that I tolerated this book in the spirit of October spookiness, and it wasn't even all that spooky. It was far too long and took a long time to get going and far to long to end...and the ending was just so meh. Sigh...

What an odd little book. Art comes to life, Nazis, and demons. I'm not entirely sure what happened, which is a fairly common experience when I read something by China Miéville. However, it was well written, and despite not fully knowing what was going on, I enjoyed the journey. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This one is headed back to the library today. I tried, but it's just not for me. I found it inaccessible with a lot of technobabble. I'm sure someone way more into that kind of stuff would find this a great read. Just not for me.

A friend of mine described this as a "gut punch," and to say she was correct is an understatement. A powerful essay on child refugees traveling to the US. It certainly qualifies as an important read. Unfortunately, the people who should read it are the people who won't. #importantreads #library #immigration

Based on the cover, I thought this book was going to be very different than what it was. Regardless, it was an excellent coming of age book about friendship and controlling your own life. I thought the bad mom was a little one dimensional, but I really loved Frances and Raine. Raine is the friend everyone needs. And a YA book where a cheesy love story was not the center of all things made it even better. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jinjer Did u think it was going to be dystopian? Two teens trying to locate other human life? I did. 😆 loved it anyway! 5y

I forgot to take a picture of the book, so here's a fist instead. So, this book was okay. Wonderfully written bc Mieville is an amazing writer. You have to really like history, which I do, but I didn't find this as interesting or compelling as I had hoped. Revolution involves a lot of committees and committees about committees. I sort of skimmed the end because I was done with who voted which way and why. ⭐️⭐️.5

This for mixed reviews on Goodreads, but I really liked it. It was like a YA Memoirs of a Geisha (without the creepy men) with a dash of Uprooted (without the creepy men). Excellent world building. A bit long and you have to be a lover of description to like this book, but I give it a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and will be reading the second. #nightreads #YA #kindle

In 2009 the US government wrote a resolution apologizing to Native Americans. It was the usual non apology one sadly expects from government. This collection of poems is in regards to that "apology." Beautiful, powerful, creative, and thoughtful poetry. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
