A fascinating examination of the real Frick museum in New York City. The book also presents a lot of history about the era and does a good job of highlighting class differences. Educational and page-turning in one!

Mixed feelings about this one. If you‘re trying to be selective, pick another. I listened to it via audio, and the premise is good but cliched, and I‘m just not sure I liked how she reached it.

Vansa I found this book absolutely terrible! It was fundamentally flawed-if she gets a chance at all her other alternatives, an Arctic researcher, for instance-wouldn't she land up in that universe, fully equipped to deal with it? Also, medication is very good for mental health issues-I don't agree at all with the writer's dismissal of medicine and therapy. The protagonist is really annoying, and this book reads like it's written by a child 6d

I can‘t say enough good about Erdrich lately, and this YA novel solidified my feelings about her as a writer again. Her protagonist, a young Chippewa girl, describes traditional culture beautifully while giving readers a deeper sense of what devastation has occurred in this country in regard to treatment of indigenous peoples.

A heart wrenchingly beautiful book that melds romance, mystery, and above all, first-rate fiction. The book moved a little slowly during a brief section but quickly renewed itself. Perrin examines how well we know ourselves and what constitutes family. She makes a cemetery desirable, among other literary feats. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Suet624 I feel such joy when I see someone else has read this book. It‘s truly the most beautiful book in the world. 😄 1w

This was heartbreaking because we lost him, but if you want to feel like you actually got to meet Anthony Bourdain, here‘s your chance. The quotations from him let you hear his voice, and Vitale in no way made this a book about him. It‘s a true tribute to Tony. If you‘ve watched a lot of the shows, it gives you a great description of what goes into each episode. This book brings Tony to life, even for a bit longer, and for that I give it 5 ⭐️.

Leftcoastzen Wow, have to get to this one! 2w

Started this today. I know I have no personal connection to Anthony Bourdain, but this book makes me miss him more than I did. What an amazing individual. Netflix pulled his shows—does anyone know where you can watch them?

Don‘t miss this beautiful work of art that also addresses current social topics. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
