After 4 years at Tulane I will always hold New Orleans #closetome 💚💛💜 My Mom ( @Mdargusch ) went to High school and Tulane with the author of this book! So I chose to read it for #booked2019 #remindsyouofyourhappyplace. Savic really captured the peculiar essence and eccentric personalities that make up NOLA but the story left me wanting more... #anglophileapril

Reviewsbylola I didn‘t know about this one but I recognize the name! 3mo
Mdargusch It‘s also a debut novel if you need a book for that prompt. 😁 (edited) 3mo

I read “The Truth About Forever” for the first time when I was seventeen. I loved it just as much then as I do now, on the eve of my 30th birthday.

I love the writing style, the well-written characters, the emotion behind the storylines and romances. Wes is still one of my all-time favorite book boyfriends. Most of all, I love how reading any of Sarah Dessen‘s books is just like coming home.

Piano Tide: A Novel | Kathleen Dean Moore

Okay so I've never been to Alaska (where this book is technically set) but I do love the Pacific NW. Plus, Moore is my favorite nature writer so I'm going to go ahead & pick this one for #remindsyouofyourhappyplace. It's filled to the brim with nature. Forests, oceans, storms, animals. Toss in a few quirky characters, a piano, and I'm happy as a clam. #booked2019

valeriegeary Also counting this one for the #mmdchallenge as a book I bought for the cover! 😍😍😍 3mo
Cinfhen Nice choice 💙that piano surprised me 😂😂beautiful cover 3mo
valeriegeary @Cinfhen have you read this one? 3mo

Cinfhen No, but I‘m highly intrigued 3mo
valeriegeary @Cinfhen a mysterious woman shows up in this small seaside town and the first scene she's dragging this upright piano off the ferry.... That's trouble waiting to happen, if you ask me. 😄🎹 3mo
Cinfhen I‘ll say...and how‘d she get that piano onto the ferry??? That‘s some heavy lifting 😉😂 3mo
valeriegeary @Cinfhen they tell you how she gets it off the ferry but not how she got it on...... 🤔 3mo

Thank you @Cinfhen for the reminder post about closing out #winter for #booked2019. I ended up crossing off 4 of the prompts: the tagged book for #newtoyouauthor; An Irish Country Love Story for #setinIreland/Irishauthor; The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie for #femaledetective; The Woman in Blue, #remindsyouofyourhappyplace for making me long to be back in the English countryside. This is a pretty good result for me!

Cinfhen Well done! Thanks for posting and tagging 😊😘 3mo

I can never pan a Simon Serrailler mystery, but this one had a few faults that moved me right out of the “pick” zone. DCI Serrailler is one of my absolute favorite male detectives—I told my mother once that if we could bring him to life, I‘d absolutely ask him to marry me (so you see my outright bias)—but in this outing (the 9th), he is a bit self-pitying, with a short temper, and a churlish attitude ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ towards his sister, upon whom he dumps all of the problems and duties of their extended family. Also, the ending left me quite unsatisfied. The requisite justice that readers usually find in mystery/detective novels is just not here. This series is being produced for television as we speak (in UK), and I believe it will play well. I have really enjoyed this series, though, in spite of the shortcomings of this particular book. 3mo
gradcat @Cinfhen You‘re hilarious! 😅🤣😂 3mo

TrishB @Cinfhen not looking, not looking.... 3mo
Andrew65 This is one series I have not started yet! But guess what @gradcat @Cinfhen @TrishB it is one on my watch list which I want to read. 3mo
Cinfhen It sounds good @TrishB @Andrew65 😉 3mo
gradcat @TrishB Open your eyes! 👀😂 Because the series is really good, I promise @Andrew65 & @Cinfhen ! 3mo
TrishB Is this where I admit to buying the first one as it was 99p on kindle 😁 3mo
gradcat @Trish YAAASSSS! Was it really only 99p? That‘s great! I think you‘ll like it, but at that price, I won‘t feel too bad if you don‘t (only about your time spent reading it)! 😂 3mo
Andrew65 @gradcat in that case I look forward to getting to it! 👍 (edited) 3mo
gradcat @Andrew65 Good idea 💡! 3mo

This book is just as great as the first... Laini Taylor is an amazingly gifted writer, and I love this story, these characters, and the incredible worlds they live in.

Listening to this book was pure pleasure and I‘m sad that it‘s over.

ALL THE STARS! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was my #remindsyouofyourhappyplace book for #booked2019 because of the narrator. I‘ve said it before, but I repeat: Steve West is one of the very best. I ❤️ to listen to him! 😍

kgriffith Just listened to the sample of the first one on audible and bought it within the first thirty seconds 😊 Steve West has such a Lannister voice! 🤓 3mo
sprainedbrain @kgriffith it IS very Lannister! 😍 3mo
RealBooks4ever Yaaaay!! 💜 I must get to this book! 3mo

sprainedbrain @mcipher I waited a long time, but couldn‘t stop once I started! ❤️ 3mo

Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite book and movie of the series. Hermione is a total badass in this one and Buckbeak is my favorite of the magical creatures. I adore Sirius and Lupin. Although the movie fails to capture the true tension between Ron and Hermione, I think it's still a good adaptation 🦉
