I‘ve done the word search for this book and… Did you know Kindle stops counting words at 1,000? I‘m really bummed because who knows how many more points I‘ve missed because the word “Christmas” shows up more than 1,000 times in this book? But even stopping at 1,000, I still racked up a lot of points from all the other words for the word search alone.

Sixty—count ‘em—60 short mystery stories (32+ hours) all set around Christmas. Some very old (1800s) to the 2020s. Best of the best, and some extremely rare. The narration was part of the charm—exceedingly well done. I‘m not a short story fan, and I liked about 95% of the stories. I‘d love to listen to this book every Christmas if it wasn‘t so darned long. So good. One of my favorite books of the year.

1) I don‘t know yet, but for December it was the tagged book
2) Grey Wolf: the Escape of Adolph Hitler 😫
3) A glass of champagne 🍾
4) No but I‘ve done a little post-Christmas craft sale onlinr shopping
5) No white or brown Christmas; it was very green. I was not disappointed; it was a beautiful day (photo inset)

32+ hours & 60 short Christmas stories, I finally finished! I loved almost every minute of it. Some stories are extremely rare and old. Some are very modern, this book was published in 2020. An excellent mix of mysteries—some ghostly, some horror, one western, really a little of everything. I cannot recommend it highly enough. If it weren‘t so long, I can imagine reading this for every Christmas. #Snowangels #WinterGames

I‘m finally on the last section of the third audiobook of the tagged book. And I just love the plot of the Raffles story. An infamous burglar, elderly and presumed dead, is being immortalized by an exhibit at Scotland Yard of items from his craft. The burglar cannot resist—connives a way to get tickets so he can see if Scotland Yard got it right. Just brilliant!! The author wrote in the early 1900s.

I‘m especially enjoying this second section of the audiobook with funny little stories. Rumpole has been my favorite so far but Thomas Hardy‘s story about the sneezing thieves is also great! This audiobook is 32 hours long, so it might just see me all the way through Christmas and then some. I‘m about 6 hours into it. #Snowangels #WinterGames #cloakanddagger

📖 What are you reading today? THE BIG BOOK OF CHRISTMAS MYSTERIES
📖 How far into it are you? page 72
📖 Was it recommended? Nope; I bought it when it first came out in 2013, and it's been on the ol' TBR shelf since then. 😃
📖 Would you recommend it? Yes! Lots of short stories from all areas of the mystery genre
📖 Have you read the author's work before? I've read quite a few of the authors, but so many I haven't. It's been fun!😍

TheBookHippie What a fun book! 5mo

quietjenn @batsy @rubyslippersreads @bklover glad to be of service, friends. 😉 I will note that some of the titles are in a series and I've added the one that would be next in it for me, so that might not be the case for you. And it is probably very subject to the mood I was in when I made it. That said, I can't wait to see what you all end up reading and chatting if we've any overlap. 💜 5mo

An early Christmas present from Mr. S. 🎁 When they say big book, they‘re not kidding, this one is a wrist breaker! I‘m excited to dip in and out of this festive book this year (and several future ones with its heft). I love a good mystery, especially classic mysteries - this edition stars detectives like, Poirot, Marple, Morse, Rumpole and Cadfael. First up, The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding by Agatha Christie.

Synopsis in comments.

From Victorian detective stories to modern mysteries, police procedural to pulp fiction, comic gems to cozy crime, there‘s something for every festive mood in this must read collection starring sixty of the world‘s famous detectives.

Hi #TeamReadNosedReindeer @StayCurious I've read four stories from this, but I'm not sure how to count the points for them. Could somebody fill me in? Thanks

#WinterGames2020 #ReadNosedReindeer

slategreyskies I think it‘s 25 points per story, since they are holiday stories. :) so, four stories would be 100 points plus 1 point for making a post. 101 points total. :) (edited) 3y
CaitZ @slategreyskies Thank you! That will really boost my points. I'm loving the stories. 3y
slategreyskies If you like the Chicken Soup for the Soul books, you could try one of those too. There are several Christmas themed ones with 101 very short stories per book. The points rack up really fast. I was excited when I saw that my library had a couple of them. :) 3y

All I want to read until the end of the year are mysteries. I'm about halfway through this one and I hope to be done by the end of the month, because Christmas-themed just doesn't seem right in January, the harshest of all months. This anthology is so far a pretty good one and I'm enjoying it. There are a few standouts like Robert Barnard, Gillian Linscott, and Ellis Peters, among others.
