This was an original story with solid world building. I enjoyed the characters a lot. The pacing was uneven though, and the writing style seemed bland. A solid, average 3 stars. I am slightly interested in the rest of the story since it ended on a cliffhanger, but I'm not itching to finish it. Since I already own book 2 I'll read it, but if I didn't own it, I'm not sure it would even be on my TBR. #bookreview #ya #fantasy #bookswap #bookmail

kspenmoll @Tamra That‘s a great endorsement! Years ago right after the siege of Sarajevo,a family was sponsored by a local church. They had 2 boys. I tutored the younger one who had what now I would call PTSD, skittish, jumpy, bewildered-his command of English by the time i worked with him (5th grade) was fairly good. He went on to adjust to our culture & succeeded.🔽 4d
kspenmoll 🔼 his older brother self medicated & ended up selling drugs to support his habit. Eventually he was jailed. Very said. I know all this because a student I supported in my first year of teaching kept in touch, married him & had a child. So heartbreaking. 4d
