In 2016 I went with a friend of mine to see the Go-Go‘s during their farewell tour. This was a nice bit of symmetry, because I saw them in 1982 as the opening act for The Police. Anyway, I have no idea what song this is, but I‘ll pretend it‘s Vacation (All I Ever Wanted) for the sake of the prompt. 😎

I‘m going on vacation soon and have put together this book stack but I can‘t take them all…the Makkai is definitely coming…welcome opinions on which others to bring with me. I also have a kindle loaded up with mysteries and thrillers I like to read on planes and on the beach. Always need to cover e-reader and real books.

pickI read this book very quickly! It‘s a quick read but it‘s not fluffy at all. The best part is all the characters. They are all flawed but all understandable in their own ways. I feel like so many other authors wouldn‘t be able to write seven main characters and give them all depth, but Emma Straub did an amazing job with that. I‘d recommend!

And the top one was a purchase from Judy Blume‘s gorgeous little book shop , from a table of novellas (which I can never resist!) 💕📚😎🌴🌊

panI started this awhile ago and just recently finished even tough it‘s not a long story. I‘ll just say this was recommended as a fun beach read and I‘ve never felt so confused by a rec lol! I hated every character, and I don‘t like marital issue books. Not the book for me. #bookspinbingo

Hi, lovely peeps! I have missed you all. Not been active here, 'cause got married on Feb. 21st (phew, it was a lot of work but fun too), and then we went to Maldives to chill for a bit. pickMy June #doublespin gets scathing reviews on Goodreads, but I loved it. Straub‘s writing is breezy and smart. Two weeks in Mallorca, Spain with the dysfunctional Post family was just what I needed. If you prefer a lot of plot or likable characters, this isn‘t for you. But if you like flawed people behaving badly, or sometimes just playing Scrabble, dive in!
panBoy, I picked the wrong day to read a book where a wealthy, privileged white family leaves Manhattan for a 2 week vacay at a private home in Mallorca. The Posts are self-absorbed, uninteresting, and unlikable. The supporting characters -not so white- are disrespected in ways that felt wrong. Perhaps on a different day, in a different mood, I may have found the humor. Just not today. Not today.

#MOvember #LaIslaBonita Set on the lush island of Mallorca its mountains and beaches, its tapas and tennis courts, promise an escape for the Post family, who each have plenty they are hiding. I LOVED this novel full of light humor and rich peoples problems. This could work for #LoL #Booked2020
panThis book is like getting a root canal. It‘s that bad. I‘m honestly not sure why I didn‘t bail. Nothing really happens, and much of the book consists of the Post family laying around the pool talking, arguing over dinner and their problems, and driving around Mallorca. The one decent character, Carmen, everyone hates for no legit reason. Did I mention nothing really happens? 😬

pickI quite enjoyed this one. I swapped between reading the physical book and listening to the audiobook while getting in my nightly stretching and yoga. The characters were believable, and it was easy to get caught up in all their family drama.
