Sorry been busy @AsYouWish but thanks for the tag! @Eggs
Yes I read every day!
#wondrouswednesday
I use audiobooks to get a lot of my reading in - chores at home, driving around, playing mindless games when I need a break, etc. I also read graphic novels and hope to get back to novels more soon.
I prefer fantasy for comfort.

Hey guys!!♥️🤗 @Chrissyreadit @Laughterhp @TheAromaofBooks Just throwing some suggestions out there! Let me know if you‘ve read them or you don‘t like any of them and I will suggest others. All are different areas of fantasy, so I guess it depends on what you‘re in the mood for: I will try to tag them below as well! 🙃
Trying to get through as much of a re-listen as possible before book club on Sunday. The book club group chat seems to support audio is the superior form—especially based on everyone‘s mental focus right now. I remember getting through my first listen in a single workday and wish I could do that again but alas.
1 It will have to be The Princess Bride. I enjoy the Disney movies too. Mulan, the animation. Changed my mind. How to Train Your Dragon
2 Mushu
3 I am ashamed to say I do. Very, very ashamed.

I wish I could give this a rating between “pick” and “so-so.” There are fascinating tidbits of history in this book, but if you‘re looking for a cohesive argument that connects these tidbits over a 500 year span to point to some singular cultural trait or origin for our tendency to believe in scams, religious fundamentalism, conspiracy theories, the cult of celebrity, etc. until we spiraled downward into the “post-fact” world, this isn‘t it.
My book choice ideas for #round10 of the #lmpbc #groupp... two of these are on @PandaPanda list... lol
Andersen‘s idea that the uniquely American propensity to believe far-fetched theories and doubt science has been ingrained since the time of the Puritans and reinforced throughout our history is certainly a worthwhile topic to think on. However, his negative views towards more recent forms of self expression and hobbies seems misplaced and reads like someone from a different era upset that newer generations don‘t take things seriously enough.
So tomorrow is my 32nd birthday and I just went to the bookstore. I couldn't find anything that took my fancy right away. I'd really like to read something entirely different. I'm thinking fantasy, maybe science-fiction. I'm also interested in scary books featuring witches or ghosts or anything else supernatural. (I'm loving that television series). Maybe even an fairytale adaptation. What book should I order? Hit me with all your ideas.
⭐️⭐️WE‘RE FULL!! THANKS EVERYONE!!⭐️⭐️

#PreferredGenre
Fantasy is my preferred genre because you are not bound by the limitations of science. You can be anyone or anything.
I made the mistake of reading and listening to this too quickly and frequently felt frustrated by all the things that have led to a lack of basic scientific literacy. It‘s easy to get overwhelmed with Andersen‘s compilation of facts that got us to the “fake news” era where lies are accepted as truth. It was a book club read and led to a great discussion. We all agreed it was worth reading.
#teamstoker
There is no way I‘m going to finish this in time for my book club tomorrow night. But I‘ll put aside the #scarathlon books for the night and try.

Forgot to take a picture before it was all packed up. @Nessavamusic and @Avanders package is in the mail. It‘s 2 day priority so should be there before opening day! #sffs

Well, I told @TheBookKeepers I was not going to sign up for this swap simply because I thought I needed a break from swaps.
But I have no self control, so here we are. Head to @Avanders page for sign up for this Sci-Fi/Fantasy Swap!
Excited to be participating in #nonfiction2019. Here's the blank one. I'll be posting my current one separately.

Admittedly, I‘m a nonfiction fan. The funny thing is, I used to say “oh I don‘t read nonfiction.” But now I do. Never say never, people. Here‘s where I am with the #nonfiction2019 bingo board. Thanks @Riveted_Reader_Melissa for keeping this one going for another year. I love having squares to fill!
My favorite bookseller in the world, Annette, was at the store today. She‘s been giving me recommendations since 2005. We hugged and cried. She gave me this pin off her lanyard to remember her. It seems silly but it means a lot to me. Does anyone have a cool way to display your pins? I‘ve tried putting them on my purse but I inevitably lose at least one.
I found this quite painful. The tone is quite cynical and not very balanced. It is right to challenge incorrect ways of thinking, but I'd prefer to see it done with more compassion.
Fascinating book and a good look at the path the country has taken to end up in this place.
I thought this had a good premise, but it was a very white-Eurocentric thesis and never really acknowledged that, which annoyed me a lot.
I have some issues with this book, but this bit I found interesting.
This jumped out at me this morning in the current climate of “fake news”...
Early on the book is looking at religion in America and the religions that sprung up in the US.
A bit more American culture reading for me. So far this is a dense and extremely sceptical look at America and American beliefs...

I thought I signed up for a fantasy book club but all the details are a little fuzzy in my head. Usually I take a screenshot of dates and download the book but apparently I didn‘t do that this time??!! Does anyone know what fantasy book club might be going on Litsy?
I have such mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, it‘s a great exploration of fantastical thinking and how we‘ve grown to have so much of it in the US over time. On the other hand, it‘s marred to near ruin by snark and hyperbole. This is a shame because there is much here which is valuable. If you can see past the unfortunate tone, have at it.
I'm having a hard time with this book, and I'm only in the first chapter. He's contradicted himself already, and I have concerns about the data he's using, because the data is flawed, and I'm concerned about his bias toward presenting this type of data as the ultimate truth we all need to open our eyes to. I'm going to keep listening for now, because his bias leans liberal, but I can't help feeling he's the wrong person to have written this book.
I‘m going to visit my mom this weekend and she found this bookstore for us to check out! Looks like it has shelves and shelves of fantasy books (and cats!). I‘m suspending my book buying ban for this. What should I look for...tag your favorite fantasy novel(s)!
There are so many things wrong with this book. The whole premise is a forced hypothesis bc he cherry picked examples throughout history to say that many Americans live in a fantasyland (not based in fact or science). The book was hastily written and it could have been good if he had stuck to examples based in fact.
The biggest problem with this book is that it whitewashes history and erases any experience for someone who isn‘t straight or white.
Here it is as promised. Favourite fantasy books Littens submitted as part of #NYBirthdayGiveaway. Thanks for everyone who contributed to this great list.
