A delightful 🎧 book that every Princess Bride fan needs to read. Most of the cast that is still alive make an appearance on the audiobook, which made it even better!

The Princess Bride has long been one of my favorite 🎥, it was so much fun to dive back into that world.

No offense meant for Grandma Gatewood - her story is an inspirational story, and I‘m sure it would be a hoot to have heard her talk about her adventure. The low rating is really due to the construction of the book. I wish the writing was as glowing and glowing throughout the entire book rather than at the end. Too choppy in a way, and I think it‘s because every detail from her journal is used. I can see why people gush over this, but not for me.⬇️

Librarybelle #SomethingInspirational for #Nonfiction2019 , because she had such a terrible life and found inspiration in nature. @Riveted_Reader_Melissa 1w
Librarybelle And, my choice for #withmylittlestickofblackpoolrock , because she had a walking stick and climbed over rocks! 😂 Probably as close as I can get for today‘s #RedRoseSeptember @Cinfhen @arlenefinnigan 1w
arlenefinnigan Good work! 😉 1w
Cinfhen Ha!!! Great review and nice way to tie in today‘s prompt!!!! 1w

Finally wrapped up #nonfiction2019 with tagged book as #somethingpersonal — My info was part of Equifax breach, and someone has tried using my SSN. But I didn‘t find this book very helpful though, I knew the basic stuff already, and the rest seemed overly complex. I didn‘t feel like there was a lot of “low hanging fruit” that would be easy to implement.

Thank You Melissa for the awesome challenge!!!

Megabooks Great job!!! 1w
Cinfhen Congrats on completing!!! I‘m already looking forward to next year @Riveted_Reader_Melissa 🤓 1w
Riveted_Reader_Melissa 💙 Great job! And a great selection of books. I‘m so glad you enjoyed it, and sorry this book wasn‘t more helpful. 1w

jb72 Yay! That‘s awesome! My info got compromised too. This the reason this whole credit junk is a bunch of nonsense. 1w
AceOnRoam Well done Anne, you are my non fiction guru 👍 1w

Gabrielle Union‘s book is less of a memoir, and more a collection of essays that are honest, smart, funny, and real. I prefer essays over a memoir, and I 💜 this book. Topics she talks about include sexual assault and rape, her “black bomb” discussions with her family, racism, and infertility. She is candid and thoughtful, and makes some powerful observations.

#nonfiction2019 written by a POC. 8 prompts to go & I currently have BINGO 3 ways!

Suet624 I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I really enjoyed the audio too. 2w
4thhouseontheleft @Suet624 I had heard a lot of great things about it, since it has been on my TBR for a while, so I went in to expecting to like it. The audiobook is fantastic! I'm very picky when it comes to books written by celebrities, and this is one the best I have read in a while, up there with Yes, Please! and Born A Crime. 2w
Riveted_Reader_Melissa I really liked this one too! 2w
Suet624 Agreed! I was so-so about Yes, Please but loved Noah‘s book. 2w

Davis tells the story of a copy of the Gutenberg Bible, known as Number 45. It took me forever to figure out why this was called the “lost” Gutenberg - and no, it wasn‘t technically lost. I wasn‘t fully engaged with the narrative of this, though it is narrative nonfiction. There‘s something that just didn‘t grab me with this, and I can‘t quite put my finger on it exactly. I‘ll use this one for #SomethingWrittenByAWoman for #Nonfiction2019 .

Gezemice 6 buddy reads! Lol I can‘t keep up with 2! 2w
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice #StarWarsBuddyRead (Solo), plus the #BBBBC (Sleeping Giants), ShakespeareBuddyRead (Merry Wives of Windsor), and PratchettPosse (Witches Abroad) which you read too. The other too were for a Litsy Postal Mark Up group I signed up for last year, and we picked to send and mark up nonfiction reads, we enjoyed it so we did it again this summer (Down Girl, and The Pun Also Rises were ones, the others in this rotation where The World Without... 2w
Riveted_Reader_Melissa ...Us, and No Apparent Distress). I enjoyed them all for different reasons, so far it‘s always been a good eclectic mix 2w

UPDATE!

✅ Something Personal ➡️ Savage Appetites

I picked this book because it's about women's obsession over true crime stories & how they were affected by it. I'm not obsessed with the crime but am more interested in the investigation & forensics side of this genre.

I almost bailed on this book but glad that I finished it. I ended up enjoying it much more than I thought I would!

Levy writes a delightfully fun history of the Chateau Marmont, an icon to all things Hollywood and more. A tad gossipy in its telling, the narrative stretches from its construction to 2018, with various tales of happy times and sad times thrown into the mix. It‘s such an easy read, and my love of history is greatly piqued from this. Also satisfies the #SomethingWithHistory square for #Nonfiction2019

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Sounds like a fun read! 3w

Raised in Asia, this form of upbringing is not alien to me... Though Amy Chua may have taken it up a notch.
Tagging this as #somethingaboutsurvival as this is how parents teach their children how to "survive" in Asia.
