Thanks @mariaku21 and @Eggs for the tag! The only 5 star reads this year have been graphic novels and short stories (individuals), except my reread of The Handmaid's Tale. It hasn't been an amazing year of books.
Even though the giveaway is closed, I thought I'd answer the question anyways. What a great giveaway @Mommamanzi !
@mariaku21 it arrived! I was checking the mail box every day, I was so excited for it come. I LOVE the handmade envelope and stationary. I hope to write a letter tomorrow and it get out on Monday. I've got to do something indoors to beat the heat! #LitsyPenPals
This was a super fun author talk. Chloe Benjamin is well spoken and down to earth. I look forward to read what she writes next. Thank you @JenReadsAlot for inviting me!
4⭐ This was a cute, sweet, and positive children's book. I would have preferred the characters more flushed out, but it's probably about right for this age group. The ending could have been a bit more elaborated on. Overall, a good listen.
Thanks @MinDea and @Robothugs for starting this and thank you @ForeverNerdy for tagging me. We are all fighting a hard battle and kindness goes a long way to make it just a bit easier.

😍😍😍 I received this wonderful package from @ForeverNerdy on what's been a hard day. Thank you Krista for bringing a smile to my face and easing my sadness. This package greatly lifted my spirits. I am grateful for your thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity. You are a wonderful friend. 💜💜💜
On Sunday, when I was watching my nephew, he went into my bag & pulled out the graphic novel Fables & said, Auntie, can we read a book? When I saw which one it was, I decided to switch it out with this book. He's 3 & Fables is for mature audiences. Plus I was excited to share with him something so close to my heart. The Legend of Korra is one of my all-time favorite TV shows & the fact that it ended with these two together makes my gay heart happy
4. The tagged book, which is about a young woman who lives with her uncle. So far, it's a book where not much happens and we learn a lot about the characters
5. None - I don't watch, follow, or participate any in sport regularly
#humpdaypost #letsmaketricksysmile @MinDea @TricksyTails
This morning, I said goodbye to my beautiful, perfect baby girl. She gave me more than I could ever put into words & she also gave me 5.5 months to get ready to say goodbye, which was the most precious gift of all. I would give anything to spend another day with my furbaby, but I'm more glad she won't spend another day suffering. I am devastated & I'm not sure how much I'll be on here for awhile. Thank you so much to everyone who's offered support
OMG, I love everything! The buttons are amazing (I didn't even think of including them) and the magnetic bookmarks have great quotes! I love tea and who doesn't love chocolate! Thank you so much @JessReads
This audio performance was incredible. The subtle sounds and music in the background added so much to this. However, this isn't an audiobook you can listen to only partially focused. Every time I was distracted for a moment, I felt like I missed something significant. The book is engaging, but print might be a better format.
I don't ever feel comfortable asking for hugs or even really reaching out when I need them, but somehow, this community feels like where I can. My eldest dog, who has terminal cancer, isn't doing well and hasn't been for almost a week. I'm really sad. When I'm not assessing whether it's time for her, I'm trying to figure out how to stay one step ahead of my puppy. I'm overwhelmed and burnt out. I need just a little bit of 💜 to get through this.
3⭐ This book was hard because I knew the basic concept and most of the book is setting up the big reveal. So in the end, only the last chapter was interesting. I'm glad I read it, but it's hard to recommend knowing that nearly everyone knows the premise and this book doesn't offer much outside that.
This is from #MountTBR so there's that!
I was tagged be the amazing @ForeverNerdy Thank you!
1. No, but I almost always read in bed or in the recliner
2. Bookmark - I'm a bit obsessed with book jigs
3. During the day, at the end of a chapter. While I'm falling asleep, whenever the light goes out
5. Rarely music, never tv
6. Actively one, but generally more than 1
7. Reading everywhere
8. Silently, except with my nephew
11. Not anymore
First book from #MountTBR This was a strange story which felt incomplete. Maybe it was because I listened to it on audio or because I listened to it while walking the pups, but I felt like I missed something. The performance was incredible.
@ForeverNerdy reminded me that I haven't been on here in forever. Well, this is why. Meet, Toru (pronounced Toh-roo)! He's a 13 week old Corgi and Collie mix I adopted from a rescue. Him and my full grown dog are working on being friends. Toru and I are working on house rules. We're getting along great, but I'm exhausted all the time. He's very smart and keeps me on my toes! #dogsoflitsy
My favorite fantasy series of all time is The Broken Earth series. I reread the first two books in the series before I read the third. I plan on rereading the third book before I reread the whole series. It's so good! (I never reread books)
My goal is to read 2 books a week and 3 every other week. I'm nervous about being able to meet it, but since I surpassed that this year, hopefully it shouldn't be too challenging.
I'm not doing any reading challenges this year, but I am committing to reading books I own. I'm on a book buying ban for the whole year.
Here's a link to my Goodreads if anyone wants to be friends there! https://www.goodreads.com/mayginreads
The thing I'm not sure about is how audiobooks like the Great Courses series, which don't have a book equivalent, are counted towards page totals. I'm guessing they aren't, which is a bit sad considering how many of them I listened to this year. They're between 12 and 18 hours long, so a decent number of pages. Oh well, it's still nice to see the breakdown.
Did anyone else read a book no one else read on Goodreads this year?
With all the hustle and bustle and between illness and holiday travel, I forgot to post the amazing bookmark @ForeverNerdy made me! I am truly blessed to have you as a Litsy friend. Thank you! I am in awe of your talent and hope to one day be half as good!
Yay, food poisoning on Christmas from Christmas Eve dinner! So fun. So many sick family members! Such a delightful day.
Well, in truth, it was great until we started feeling sick... Oh well. Can't win them all.
This is a wonderful idea @4thhouseontheleft ! We can all use a break during the holidays when things get too much. My thoughts are with you if this is a difficult time of year and I'm here to chat (just be sure to tag me). Please #repost and share so everyone knows about #joinin
Wishing you all a safe, joyous, and loving holiday season!
@Rachel.Rencher held an incredible #renchergiveaway and I'm still so amazed I won! In addition to the two books and bookmark listed in the giveaway, there were 2 more books, a mini Jenga, a pen, and a holiday crossword puzzle! I'm overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity! Thank you so much! I'm so excited to start reading! 😁😁😁
I will be paying it forward soon. Stay tuned! 😉
1. Both, but tend to buy bagged
2. Both, but mostly buy decaffeinated
3. Earl Grey, Chai, peppermint
4. Lemon, licorice, or anything too fruity or floral
5. Ground, though I do pods for pod specific drinks
7. Yes, I prefer it
8. Yes, though not at home since my coffee is already flavored
Bonus. Flavors I like: Vanilla, Carmel, Cinnamon. Flavors to avoid: Hazelnut, mocha. Also, I can't do anything with artificial sweeteners.
While I love this time of year, there's been some things going on that have really worn down my mental health. I just wanted to thank this community for being an uplifting and supportive place. You've helped keep things bright, even on the bad days. I am grateful to you. I sometimes struggle to connect, but recently have felt connected here. Thank you.
@abbsinwonderland is a wonderful litten who not only is sending out holiday cards to anyone who wants one (check out her profile), but also she is also hosting the #abbsgiveawaywonderland 💜
What gets me through is my pup, my nephew, and my sister. They are my world and somehow make everything better. I feel so blessed to have them in my life. They all give me something different and precious.
1. Yes, mostly in different formats or genres
2. Yes, at least once a week
3. Yes, almost all the time
4. Not anymore. I've reformed. 😊
5. Yes, though I have a hard time wanting to pickup books over 600 (I know this from a reading challenge. Odd magic number)
Thank you @Bostonmomx2 for the wonderful bookmarks for the #bookmarkswap. Funny story, after looking at dozens of magnetic bookmarks, I didn't read the back until just now. Silly me, I never even thought of using them as refrigerator magnets! Now I'm even more psyched about them! Thank you!
