Love it that the date in my book is so close to today‘s date.

I recommend this remarkable book. I‘ve read it so many times now I‘ve lost count. I‘ve listened to this Audible version before. It‘s the best.
Ordinary people take on an abhorrent monster, a vampire. It easily could be the origin story of superheroes facing down a ghastly villain.
It feels as if it could have been written a decade or so ago, not 128 years ago.

I‘m starting this audiobook tonight so I can be primed to start October and #HauntedShelf ! This is one of my all-time favorite books so I look forward to listening to it. Finished and absolutely loved it! 🤩
Classics are always a 'strange' experience. You never know what to expect. The story you think you know is never what you think, and there is always a level of modernity that hits me stronger than l expect
This is a book full of action, beautiful characters (l loved Mina!), emotions and feelings, darkness. The pace is great. The mystery totally gripped me.

Starting Dracula for #hashtagbrigade during school dropoff!
We usually walk, but it‘s raining, and my husband usually does it, but he‘s sick. I arrived early enough to park which meant I was stuck while the line of cars went around. But I had just the right amount of time to read the first chapter!
My edition for this month‘s #PemberLittens #HashtagBrigade was a purchase I made through Book Outlet several years ago. I really like the cover!
About to dive into Chapter 1. I‘m also doing Dracula Daily, which is Dracula deconstructed by date, so this will be fun!

pickI loved the writing style of the book. Reading through diary of the characters made me care for them. It seems to have leveraged the reader's whole different level of intimate raw true experience of a person when you are allowed to peep into their personal diary. And as always, love the selfless portrayal of friendship and trust. Happy ending is a bonus.
I‘m back home from Dublin, but daughter stayed for a two-week literature class. Today they toured Ireland‘s National Museum of Literature. (How did I not know about this museum while I was there??) Knowing how much I ❤️ Dracula, she sent this photo. This is its first paperback edition.

Been reading Dracula via Dracula Daily (the book is emailed out on every day that matches a journal entry). And I‘m sorry but yesterday‘s opening line is hilarious. Like how do I picture the grand-daddy of horror seriously now.

pickThis is, like, my 4th read. This time, I listened to an audiobook (not the one with Alan Cumming and Tim Curry, though, blast!) and it was so fun! This is, certainly, problematic in places. However, the lore is SO STRONG that even today, few stray from it. (If they do, we get sparkly vampires. At least she tried something new. Bless.) Anyway, still a solid pick.
