ElizaMarie Ha, this ritual sounds lovely! I mean, what can go wrong when you pass a murder weapon among your friends? Love the pacing of this book so far :) 10h
Ruthiella It‘s all fun and games until someone gets murdered! 😱😅 10h

Cuilin I know I shouldn‘t, but I would so join in on this game. 😬 10h
peanutnine Did none of their parents teach them not to play with knives?!! 9h
eeclayton That's not a game I'd be comfortable taking part in 😳 8h
TheAromaofBooks I'm like... isn't this thing SHARP!? 😂 6h
willaful @peanutnine I'm buddy watching an English Christmas program (The Box of Delights) and someone commented that all English children are 40 years old. Conversely, I think all English adults may be children. 😂

It does seem to me that if/when someone gets murdered, Albert Campion is indirectly responsible...
6h
dabbe And they're going to pass around this dagger in the dark? Whattheheck???? 5h
lil1inblue @Cuilin Honestly, I would probably join in, too. 😅 1h
lil1inblue Murder aside, it's dark... Won't hands get cut? 😱 1h
Bookwormjillk Let the ritual begin! This book is wild already. I love it. 1h

Clare-Dragonfly “Make another one of the people who horrified and disgusted you” doesn‘t sound like the greatest plan, but I guess the creature didn‘t think of “treat me like a human being and introduce me to other people as one so they‘ll get used to me,” and anyway I don‘t think Victor would go for that after the creature killed William. 1mo
Bookwormjillk Frank will do anything to avoid owning up to what he did in the first place 1mo
BookwormAHN I wonder if he really would have left Victor alone if he had made him a wife. 1mo
ElizaMarie This is the chapter where my feeling for the creature ends. 1mo

dabbe Um ... there's a creature out there on the loose, people! Let's just pretend that never happened! 😳 2mo

Clare-Dragonfly So… what does he think the creature is doing?! And Elizabeth apparently thinks Victor is an idiot, since she assumes he doesn‘t remember how a girl described as a great favorite of his came to join the household 😂 2mo
ElizaMarie @dabbe yeah he is very #OutOfSightOutIOfMind about this creature 2mo
KAO It‘s unbelievable how the creature is simply not a concern! I kept waiting for comments indicating Victor‘s worry—or at least curiosity!! 2mo
Bklover What creature?? Ohhhhh, that one!! 2mo
Sparklemn @Clare-Dragonfly Honestly, I had to read this section multiple times because I assumed I missed something. 🤔 2mo

BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk the poor moms! They never stand a chance! 2mo

dabbe Maybe the moms die to spur the children to grow up and go on their quest. Victor's mom definitely did that for him. I find it interesting, too, that Victor ignores the warnings of his first professor, Krempe, just as Walton seems to ignore Victor: both are blinded by their ambition to gain glory. Walton wants to find the northwest passage, and Victor wants to aid society through science. As @BarkingMadRead knowingly said, #whatcouldgowrong? 2mo
Clare-Dragonfly And the mom‘s dying wish is for Victor and Elizabeth to get married 😬 2mo

mcctrish I‘m pretty sure everything will go wrong 3mo
willaful Fascinating chapter! To me, Charles and Sebastian are clearly in love... But do they know it themselves?

The ending is heartbreaking. Sebastian's family is doing the absolute worst thing they could do in the name of taking care of him. I'm afraid they're driving him to his death.
3mo
Cuilin The juxtaposition of the helicoptering of Sebastian‘s family and The “hey you‘re 22, no? you‘re 20, I thought it was longer but, live your own life” from Charles‘s father is something. (edited) 3mo
Clare-Dragonfly I do not foresee good things for Sebastian. 3mo
Bookwormjillk I left this and Nancy Drew until 7:45 tonight. Why do I feel like a kid who procrastinated on their homework 😂 3mo
lil1inblue @Bookwormjillk Haha. Same. 😂 3mo
lil1inblue @willaful They're definitely in love. 😍 3mo
ElizaMarie @willaful yes!!! I don‘t think they understand the feelings they have but know they feel intense and all consuming. 3mo
Sparklemn @Cuilin I thought so, too. And yet they‘re both so lonely. 3mo
