Finally caught up with all my reviews for #Scarathlon, apologies for all the posts 😳

This was a fun and enjoyable audiobook that is available free if you are a member of Audible. Fairly typical fayre but a really fun and engaging read.

This book took a long while to get into it, possibly because I hadn‘t read the previous books in the series. Jemima Huxley is returning to work after maternity leave and finds herself thrown into a big abduction and murder case. Whilst it took a long while to get into it, once I had I really enjoyed this book and the convoluted situation that was unwrapped in front of our eyes. Some interesting twists along the way,

This is the second book in the Yorkshire Murders series, although I hadn‘t read the first one. A young girl is found murdered and locals are blaming a loner who lives near the lake. DCI Emma Gardener sets off investigating the case which has some of its roots in the past and it takes a while to build up the full picture, but she is also dealing with her own family issues, and issues for her DI.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable book 👇

Simon Scarrow does it again with this book, the second book in the Berlin Wartime Thriller Series. It is superbly written and creates a real feel for the times in which it is set. This one also covers a controversial theme and actions by the Nazis. If you enjoy good thrillers I strongly recommend this book investigating murders against a 1940s Germany backdrop.

Simone St James writes some great books that also make for great audiobooks. This one is set shortly after the end of the First World War and deals with the trauma created during the war. Amongst this there is also a mystery behind what is going on at Portis House. My third book finished for #AuthorAMonth @Soubhiville

Nice to be back with Tempe Brennan in this one, set in North Carolina. Tempe is involved in a case as she deals with the changes in her personal life. She has quite a rocky time on this case, which has strange connotations of devil worshippers and witches.

Monica5 I need to get back to reading this series 5mo
Andrew65 @Monica5 I was the same before this one, been a long time since I‘d read one. Think the 11 books have taken me about 10 years but determined to make quicker progress in the series. 5mo

Past Lying | Val McDermid

The new book in the Karen Pirie series is another excellent read, although a very different book. This is set at the height of the lockdown and that makes the job of investigating a cold case much more difficult. I love how Val McDermid managed this with great aplomb. I‘ve fallen more in love with this series as it has progressed.

This was a really fun cosy read, and I really enjoyed the feel of the book. An interesting story about an author who stays in Christmas River and finds himself being targeted. I look forward to getting hold of the other books in this series based on this book.

I really love this series set in Lincoln, and this book keeps up the same high standard. Karen has to investigate the attack on one of her colleagues that has left her in a coma and at death‘s door. Interesting twists in this one as Karen finds herself working with and trying to protect a hoodlum. A fast moving book that is superbly written.
