Resist Books you had me at hello! Resist Books launched their online store last week and I‘ve been over the moon. #resistbooks #heavy #selfcareforblackwomen
Pearls pick for the month of May is Luster by Raven Leilani. This will be a first for the Book Pearls and of course we are curious as to whether or not the title is a giveaway to the storyline.
Dear Lolly,
I wish I could hug you and tell you everything will be alright. Death is not easy for adults to experience and as a young scholar I‘m sure it‘s even harder to process. Am I the only one who talks to fictional characters?
Time to decompress…it‘s been one of those days! 3 more days until spring break!! Am I the only one whose bookshelves look a mess right now? 😩
Dear Martin, You could be any one of us. #dearmartin #acmsreads #readingraiders
I‘m a sucker for a pretty cover and hope the book is just as amazing. PangoBooks for the win!! #pangobooks #ayanagray #beastofprey
What a beautiful blessing gifted to me by my principal! I‘ll be adding to my class library and can‘t wait to see what student will pick these beauties first. #classroomlibrary #readingislit
Scholastic Book fair will always be my jam! I cannot wait for my grandson to experience the feeling of not only getting a book but a cute bookmark, pen or pencil to match.
The Scholastic book fair will always be my weakness! I picked this beauty up simply because one of my scholars recommended it.
“The amount of mint to mix with cow manure to make tea fur consumption.”
I can‘t even begin to imagine…This book is soul stirring and will sit with me.

I don‘t know how to feel about Addie and the reviews are through the roof! This coffee is saving the day though! 😩 #addiewho #addielarue #hotcoffeeforthewin
Beauregard had me at hello! He‘s calculated, observant and unafraid. My tea of choice this morning is an absolute fave, so much so that I have it year round and not just in the winter.
Pearls pick for the month of January will be another banger by S.A. Cosby. We were so impressed with Razorblade Tears that we decided to add another title of his to our roster.
#sacosby #pearlspick #januaryread
Peppermint bark and reader socks for the win on this chilly Sunday. My read for this evening is our monthly Book Pearl pick titled Such a Fun Age by @kileyreid and curious to see how it will end. What are you guys reading on this chilly Sunday? #suchafunage #kileyreid #peppermintbark #readingsocks #pearlspick #bookpearls
Tapping back into my bookclub pick and following the motto of the mug for the rest of the evening while praying to the snow Gods!
I stayed up reading past my bedtime last night and babyyyy!! I‘m up early letting these thoughts marinate and will definitely have to sit in prayer this morning. I already know this book is going to sit with my soul… P.S. Can someone tell BN to stop putting stickers on the covers. 😩#the1619project #ireadpastmybedtime
You had me at hello…I‘m only a few chapters in and already know this is going to be a long ride!!
The title alone draws a reader in! Husband For Sale by B.M. Hardin will not disappoint. Book Pearls have read several titles by B.M. Hardin and I‘m sure this pick for the month of July will be no different.
The only thing saving this read is the honey peach tea. This was my first read by Stuart Turton and I‘m a little perplexed as to why this book had such great reviews.
Can you imagine faking your own death? Who would you be? Where would you go? Well These Ghost Are Family by Maisy Card answers all of these question. Mr. Solomon aka Abel Paisley takes you on a ride you‘ll never forget and this cool weather and rainy day that we‘re experiencing is the perfect time to relax and read. #theseghostsarefamily #bookworm #rainydayreading #rainyvibes
Good Old Sportcoat! Curious to see where he‘s taking me.
One of my students asked...Mrs. B, What would you do if you were the last kid on earth? Me: Eat as much Chinese food as I could. You? Him: I would live in the mall. My scholars keep me laughing which is necessary especially during these times. #zombieparade #lastkidsonearth
I‘m hella proud of this young man!! Opening this and seeing the cover felt like an early Christmas gift!
I was quite cozy this morning with my coffee and Yellow Wife by @sadeqasays I don‘t know what‘s going to happen as I‘m still pretty early in this read but I can say, run not walk and pick your copy up soon. P.S. Shout to my baby sis for putting me onto this amazing coffee. #readsoullitphotochallenge #sadeqajohnson #cozy
The passing of Eric Jerome Dickey still has me shook and I‘m about to revisit a few of his older titles.
The Other Woman will have you on the edge of your seat and ready to jump off the rollercoaster. As for Freckles, she will forever be etched in my soul. I still feel her emotions as I talk about the infidelity and after many years I still say, I would have shot him.
Books for Christmas will always be my jam and luckily my children really listen when I‘m chatting about books. Thank you!
Shoutout to my daughter from another mother for introducing me to Chad Sell. He had me at hello with this cute graphic novel. #graphicnovel #doodleville
I can only imagine what one does when they think no one is watching. I know this is a thriller and I‘m already curious to know what happens when no one is watching. The Pearls pick for the month of January is by Alyssa Cole and I am sure she will not disappoint us. #whennooneiswarching
Laughter is good for the soul but so is wine and really good conversations about books. My neighbors are the absolute best! Every time I visit I feel as if I‘ve taken a trip to the bookstore and had my soul renewed. I can‘t wait to dive into Turtle Boy. #turtleboy #graphicnovels #wineandconversation
I might just have a mug and book buying problem but hey...it could be worse. #booknerd #waltermosley #peppermintbark
Caste had me at hello and because reading is my self-care I‘ll be spending some time taking care of me. #readingismyselfcare #teaandagoodbook
I got all my sisters with me! #literaryqueens
Pearls pick for the month of November is Caste by Isabel Wilkerson and from the reviews I‘m sure Mrs. Wilkerson will deliver.
Pearls pick for the month is October is a thriller and I can‘t wait to see how it ends!
Pearls pick for the month of September will be The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. Ms. Bennett did not disappoint with her last title and it looks as she‘ll knock the ball out the court with this one.
It‘s been a while since I‘ve stayed up and listened to a book that had me at hello! I‘ve been with these folks since day one and don‘t want the saga to end. I‘m slowly making my way through it due to Book 3 not being released until December, that‘s so not fair! 😩
Pearls pick for the month of August will have the Pearls unpacking quite a bit as we read Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
Ghana, eighteenth century: two half sisters are born into different villages, each unaware of the other. One will marry an Englishman and lead a life of comfort in the palatial rooms of the Cape Coast Castle. The other will be captured in a raid on her village, imprisoned in the very same castle, and sold into slavery.
Pearls pick for the month of July is none other than Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison. It‘s been years since I‘ve read this (20+ to be exact) and I‘m curious to see if I have matured with my thinking. I‘m making way slowly through this piece and finding that Milkman is someone who still sits with me to this day.
Can we all just pause for a second and admire how gorgeous these covers are!! Shuri had me at hello!!
Thank goodness I don‘t know anybody like this because there‘s no way I could keep my mouth shut! The way some of these women act you would think they were the athletes. Thank goodness I have my tea to offset my mood because right now I JSU want to slap one these folks. 😕
I‘d rather be partly great than entirely useless...

This gloomy rainy Monday is giving me all types of life right now! The first sip of hot coffee hit different when you‘re not rushing off to work. I do miss my students and can‘t wait until I see them again but in the meantime...Alexandria House is turning my sad smile into a happy one with this book.
When your niece recommends a book and you actually love it! I‘d never heard of Patricia Highsmith until two days ago and I think I‘m hooked. My tea of the day just adds a little pep in a much needed way and on what seems like this one millionth day of quarantine I‘ll enjoy this time to relax. #timetoread #peachlemontea #starbucksmugs
