Idk what inspired me to read this bc I usually cannot stand romance. Lowkey though I felt like this wasn‘t meant to be a romance at all so maybe that‘s why it was fine. The whole book I just wanted Adelaide to grow balls and value herself, but honestly we‘ve all been in her shoes so who am I to talk. Just a very realistic look at what it feels like to desperately want to be loved (oh yeah I‘ve been there)

I was inspired to read this book bc my friend had just read Bunny, but I picked this one instead bc it‘s Shakespeare related and I‘m pretentious. The first 100 pages of this book I wasn‘t sure if I was even going to finish it bc it does not start off strong. Honestly it‘s hard to read about someone struggling so hard. The rest of the book was more interesting and it had some cool points but mostly not amazing

This book was lowkey giving We Have Always Lived in the Castle in the beginning with this sister dynamic. The first half honestly didn‘t interest me super hard even tho the ambiguity was cool. The plot twist was AMAZING! It redeemed the whole book tbh. The ending is super ambiguous too (which lowkey I don‘t like bc like….tell me what to think). Super interesting to read and reflect on your relationship with your sister

This is such a cool and interesting concept for a book but this book just did not hold my attention in the slightest bit. At first I thought I wasn‘t connecting with the third person narrative but I think it was just boring. Awful main character (which was the point obviously). This book kinda made me want to join a cult in exchange for perfect glowy skin

The last book I read in 2023! I wouldn‘t say this book was necessarily well written, but it was still really interesting. You wouldn‘t think that rich people have hard lives, but Paris Hilton truly had such a hard life. I really feel for her (which is crazy bc usually I never pity rich people). I find it so sad to hear her talk about her mother, who is so clearly an awful human. She still excuses what she did to Paris!

I haven‘t read this book since middle school (when I was obsessed with it as middle schoolers are) and boy is it horrible. Like awful. Truly. It‘s waaaaay more racist than I remember???? And it fetishizes Asian people in the weirdest way???? I just want to know why a full grown adult woman wrote this book about 16 year olds yearning for each other. It‘s just bad.

Another reread but I think this is a really amazing book. It has so much social commentary on society and growing up and racism and such. Now that I‘m thinking about it I wish I brought it for my roomie to read bc she would appreciate it, maybe I‘ll get my mom to mail it to me. Anyways, I would totally teach this as a future middle school teacher (I think)

This was a reread (my roomies were supposed to read it at the same time but they broke my heart in pieces and did not) and let me just say this is a truly amazing book. Dare I say it deserves to be considered a classic eventually?? The love story is so beautiful and touching and unexpected. Taylor Jenkins Reid is the queen of defying expectations and this book is her absolute best work. LOVE

The last book I had to read for my Frankenstein and climate change class!!!!! This book was much more accessible and easy to read than the tambora book we had to read. I still didn‘t enjoy it (and I didn‘t enjoy the essay I had to write on it) but at least it was better than that. I‘m glad I didn‘t have to read it as summer reading for college tho

Ok yes this is very much a child‘s book but it‘s so fun!!! My sister and I both remember this as a landmark book in our childhood. The rooms in this girls apartment are so fun and creative and fun!!! It was just a fun little book. Was it cheesy and corny at points?? Of course, but it‘s a child‘s book so. Context. (I taught a lesson to a high school about review writing and context is important if you didn‘t know)

I didn‘t read this that long ago but already I can‘t remember a single thing about it, so I guess that speaks to its quality. All I remember is there was a weird plotline about somebody with paralysis being healed???? Weird book.

At this point Paul Zindel was just writing tragedy porn. There was absolutely no need for this book. It was a replication in the worst way possible. This book makes me mad lowkey bc it destroys the integrity of the first book.

Yo. I read this book for the first time in fifth grade I think. When I read it back then I thought it was the saddest book on earth. When I reread it as a 21 year old I still thought it was the saddest book ever. Just so heartbreakingly tragic. I think this is one of the first books I remember crying myself to sleep over. I remember reading it on the school bus and crying too. So sad

Another modern classic. This book always reminds me of my dad and his brothers. I can see why so many middle schoolers love this book bc it deals with (very sensitively and lowkey subtly) living in circumstances that you want to rise above. Even tho it‘s sad as shit I think this book makes middle schoolers more sensitive

I stopped reviewing books bc during thanksgiving break I read 6 books in 3 days to catch up to my goodreads goal and I wasn‘t sure if I wanted to review those books. I do. This book is basically a classic. A realistic and honest look into mental health struggles and the overall introspection of being an adolescent. Love this book, would use it as a future English teacher too

Ever since the first time I read this book in high school I‘ve been saying it‘s my favorite book so I seem intellectually superior and also sexy. Rereading it as a 20 year old has solidified the fact that this is the best book I‘ve ever read. It‘s SO relatable which is kinda scary but whatever. The last time I read it I remember thinking the beginning was slow but this time the beginning had me hooked. I love this book. PLS read it!!!

I don‘t know what I was expecting before I read this but this book is AMAZING. I read it basically in one train trip and boy did it keep me engaged. The first and second parts of the book were clearly the best and the third was a honestly a little disappointing but overall it was such girlboss entertainment. Also I must confer that the cool girl speech is crazy epic, but the book version is 10000% better than the movie

I liked this more than most new age adult romances but it also didn‘t amaze me. I will say that I don‘t think i have it a fair shot because I read it during the school year which means that it took me forever and it was distinctly not summer vibes when I read it. Maybe I‘ll read it again during the summer so I can fully enjoy it

When I first started this book I thought it was ass. It got a little better as it progressed but overall just not one of the Sarah dessen books that I can appreciate. It just fits the formula of her books too much, all her books are the same. ALL OF THEM.

I was so excited to read this book bc mother issues AND food issues?????? Who can relate to that if not me?? Based on all the quotes that i related to from this book, I would say that the mother issue portion definitely spoke to me. The food issue portion also felt like it had been written by me. I wasn‘t expecting so much sex so if you‘re a prude like me beware.

Taylor Jenkins Reid has mastered the art of the page turner. Every time I read her books I consume them in one day. This was such a fun drama filled read that always kept me interested. I loved that we get to see into the lives of randos at the party it was just so fun to read. Also apparently they don‘t sell condoms in Malibu bc everyone was pregnant

I had to think long and hard about how I felt about this book. Objectively yes it was good and I feel like it was written pretty well. I think what gets me is that I liked and related to the narrator and then I found out that she lacked serious morals and was the problem in such a weird way. Anyways I‘m left feeling unsatisfied and like this book was forgettable but maybe that‘s just me. I recommend it bc it‘s still good tho.

This book was SO interesting and SO good. It was such a good mix of psychological horror, whimsy, and real life implications. It also talked a lot about heritage and culture and assimilation which connects to the summer class I‘m taking which is pretty cool. Also i love anything that attracts suspicion to the wealthy

I really liked most of these stories. Especially the ones that delved a little deeper into the authors family/heritage. It just reminded me of something my current professor would like so of course I had to email her about it bc I‘m a kiss ass. The last story was probably my fave bc I feel like I‘ve been thinking heavy about the ethics of motherhood these days (idk why)

Could only be described as creepy in a whimsical way. Kinda boring and I did expect something scarier or spookier to happen bc of the creepy cover. But I liked the relationship between the sisters, it redeemed the book for me

I really enjoyed this book! I think I liked Evelyn Hugo more because it felt like it had more depth to it. But this book was really fun. Lots of drama and intrigue. The format made it easy to read it super fast in one sitting. I just started watching the show and let me tell you the book is much much better. I also liked this little plot twist at the end about the author if you could even call it a plot twist.

I feel like this book has been on my radar for many years and i was disappointed by finally reading it. The last 50 pages were pretty crazy but besides that it was kinda hard to read. Definitely a very cool concept but I‘m not sure how I feel about the execution

Wow is really all I can say. There is a reason why this book is so popular. It‘s actually amazing. When my sister first pushed me to read it I was hesitant bc I‘m a snob about popular things blah blah. This book just kept surprising me. The love story was BEAUTIFUL. The drama was SCORCHING. Evelyn Hugo is a GIRLBOSS. I loved how you question why they include so much info about boring Monique and that question gets answered! READ THIS

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!! It did such a good job of capturing what it feels like to be a people pleaser at the expense of yourself and of course that makes me think of myself and basically everyone I know. The sarcastic voice of the author really reminded me of Fleabag which made this book even more epic. Also she quoted my all time favorite quote from the bell jar which was pretty dope. LOVE.

This one might be my fave in the series. It had summer chill vibes but also a shit ton of drama which I loved. I don‘t want to post any spoilers but the plot of this book is ridiculous. Just absolutely insane. But that made it fun. The ending was even more insane but whatever. Good overall. I enjoyed the series more than I thought I would and now I‘m excited to watch the show for the first time

This was a fun carefree summer book that I really enjoyed reading and I was able to read it pretty fast. I‘ve wanted to read this series since the show came out but the wait for the books at the library was always too long. I‘m glad I got to read it finally. I must say it did not feel like a romance at all. Some parts felt forced, like the love triangle was lowkey just thrown in there. But still fun and the end had me crying

I remember buying this book from a used book sale as a child bc aquamarine has always been one of my favorite movies of all time. But then i let a friend at the time borrow the book and then she turned out to be an evil person and I never got my book back. But I finally bought a new copy! Best movie ever best book ever!

Dude I loved this book. This is how to write an unlikeable narrator without making the whole book too miserable to read. This is also one of the only multiple perspective (kinda) books where I enjoyed reading every perspective. I related to Megan in a lot of sad ways and it captured the fears of adulthood well

This is unlike anything I‘ve ever read before. It‘s so unique and cool and fun to read. I would recommend this to genuinely anyone. I love the mix of the whimsical with quick glances into peoples lives. I loved all the stories

I didn‘t really like the romance aspect but that could just be me being bitter and lonely. Either way this was so fun and I would recommend it to my friends who like romance
