I‘m really digging this YA “nonfiction” book about Mary Shelley‘s life.

Oof. She did not have it easy. 🧟‍♂️⚡️

I was hoping to send this one out to @phantomx today (along with the #Round12 book), but it is horribly transphobic and I decided to switch to Gender Queer. #Round13 #GroupP #LMPBC

I‘m 240 pages in, but enough is enough. Severely disappointed in Winterson for her treatment of this character.

IndoorDame I‘m so sad to hear that! Hoping Gender Queer lives up to expectations. 2mo
phantomx No worries, take your time with the other book. I'm scrambling to get my picks read at the last minute 😖 2mo

One of the best nonfictions I've read in a long time. Parallel biographies of mother and feminist trailblazer Mary Wollstonecraft & her daughter, the writer Mary Shelley. Told in alternating chapters following their lives from beginning to end. Not only does the book address events, but it also examines relationships and, most importantly, analyzes the women's feminism & political philosophies through extensive discussion of their works.

Mary Shelley dreams up a monster novel in the 1810s, and a man two hundred years later ponders over what constitutes life and death. This wasn't the right book for me, but it is a good book. I didn't enjoy the ongoing existential conversations about whether life was still life if you were in a new body. I also didn't appreciate the sex robot guy (but I think that's the point). I really liked the dual timeline element! #Adaptation #Scifi #LGBTQ

It cracks me up that the tagged book was one of the ones chosen this month because I was originally supposed to read it in April during my sister‘s birthday month since she rec‘d it to me. And now it‘s my birthday month and the fates have spoken 😆⚡️ #BookSpin #DoubleSpin

Happy National Frankenstein Day Everyone!!!

Today‘s a day to recognize Mary Shelly and her book in tons of fun ways. Read Frankenstein, watch the movie, make Frankenstein shaped cookies, color pictures of the monster, or stumble around like him when he was first created (me before coffee) all day (you can dress up too).

#Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter #MaryShelley #Frankenstein

mandarchy What? ! This is a day? 😀😃😄 3mo
Gissy In honor to this national day, I watched a funny, silly, oldie one: Young Frankenstein🖤🖤🖤 3mo
