Whew, I could barely put this one down!! What a rollercoaster! I was so invested that this book gave me weird dreams last night 😂 I wasn't sure how Arden was going to pull things together in a way that made me happy but also made sense, but for the most part she did. I had a few niggles, but overall this one was definitely a pick.

I have to say that one thing that low-key annoyed me was constantly referring to the various magical creatures as⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) demons. It made sense for people who couldn't see them or didn't know what they were, but for the creatures themselves to think of themselves as demons - I actually do believe that demon exist and that they are never the good guys, and I wouldn't think of something like a dryad or a naiad as a demon. I loved the idea of the church folk working together with magical creatures, but the church in league with demons is definitely a no-go. ⬇ 2w
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) So even though it's kind of nit-picky, I wish she wouldn't have used that term so constantly, as it changed the way I felt about the creatures and the way they interacted with humans and religious folks, if that makes sense.

Still, all in all, an incredibly engaging, solid trilogy full of interesting characters whose stories and lives I was completely invested in. Well worth the read, and I'll probably pick these up again at some point.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was hands down the best book of the entire series. “The Winter of the Witch” was utterly thrilling, heartbreaking, dark, and compelling. I loved Vasya‘s character arc and the amount of tragedy, hatred, and abuse that she endures while still not tolerating any one‘s shit is admirable. The conclusion to this series was a wild ride, and I enjoyed the plot line and its bittersweet ending.

ICantImReading What a beautiful cover! 12mo
PatriciaU That is a gorgeous cover! And I agree — while the whole trilogy was amazing, this one was so, so good. 12mo

I really enjoyed the whole trilogy. With every book, I found it more and more difficult to get through the portions of the books that were explanatory. I wanted to get to the ACTION! And yes, I still want to be a witch and live in the woods when I grow up. #lifegoals

Chrissyreadit I think being a Witch and living in the woods is a dream come true. 13mo

What a beautiful book and the perfect ending to an enchanting series. I‘m so glad I finished 2021 with this book (I split it between my print copy and an audiobook). I think the last book of the series is my favorite, and I‘m excited to show them off on my bookshelf☺️ Wonderful winter read!

GondorGirl I picked these up a new months ago, but thought I'd wait until winter to read them. They look amazing! 1y

I decided to try and finish some of the series I've started before beginning any new ones. I have no idea why it took me so long to get to this one. Maybe just sad that it is the end. Atmospheric and beautiful I love the portrayal of Russia and their magic and myths. Definitely one of my favourite trilogies of all time. #highlyrecommend

I didn't read as many books as I originally planned in 2020 but still read some amazing books. My top 5 of 2020
1. The Winter of the Witch
2. Becoming
3. The Five
4. The Night Circus
5. The Empire of Gold
I am ending the year strong with Ian Irvine's epic fantasy which could easily take a spot in the top 5.

now that I'm done, I'm a bit sad this lovely trilogy is over...off the bat, things are pretty intense in book 3 compared to the slow burn of the previous title and the story took turns I wasn't expecting but greatly enjoyed. I'm eager to see what Arden digs up for her adult fiction in the future.

Arden has managed to weave together so many stories, histories, and worlds and for the fact she started writing this series at age 23, I applaud her! Her attention to various bonds and how deep they go, how they can hurt, how they transform💗
I will always hold a soft spot for stories that combine myth/fantasy/supernatural/what have you and reality because they always leave me looking at the world a little differently 😉
