I have a long standing obsession for all things geek mythology and this did everything and more to satisfy that part of me. Madeline Miller‘s writing is so beautiful but also so easy to read. I honestly will read everything she writes

This was so wildly different from what I expected it to be but it was incredibly easy to read. I am still not sure what I read but I feel like it and the characters are going to stick with me for a bit. Also I can‘t remember the last book I read set in Australia and that was a lot of fun

I‘ll be honest I am 100% reading this series for the romance and on that front it is DELIVERING. I unashamedly flailed at all the scenes with the two together. The world building is still lacking for me and at times it seems rushed but you are never bored reading this book that‘s for sure. Bring on the next one!!!

I reread this in anticipation of Wicked King and because I didn‘t feel the hype like other people did and wanted to give it another go. I‘ve decided I don‘t really like the first half of this book, the world building is so weak and not a lot happens. However the second half and especially the last quarter is excellent. I love the protagonists need for power- something usually reserved for villains. And the angsty slow burn romance is everything

Brandon Sanderson did not disappoint! The world is so well developed and I loved every single character. Their voices were all unique and I was excited for each POV. It also explores themes like religion, poverty and immigration with interesting commentary. 5 ⭐️

While this book was a major page turner and I am a sucker for drama I personally struggled with the amount of girl/girl hatred and jealousy. I understand that it is clearly a major part of the competitiveness of ballet but it was not always fun to read. Still love the complex and (very) flawed characters.

This was the cutest novella!! Mik and Zuzana were my favourite part of the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy and this encompasses everything I loved about them. The illustrations are a beautiful addition and flesh out the story so well. Didn‘t expect to love this as much as I did.

Wow this was incredible. I could not put this down and read it all in one sitting. I loved the characters and their dynamics and relationships. The weaving of Shakespeare throughout which I thought would be annoying and pretentious was surprisingly brilliant.

I loved this!! I am so sad to say goodbye to these characters who were a breath of fresh air in YA. This series has much darker themes than his others which is why I think this one is my fav. I do think it did feel a little anti climatic at the end and I wish I had felt the stakes a bit more. 4.5⭐️

This was a fun one. The interpretation of fae was creepy and quite traditional compared to the powerful flawless models in Sarah J Maas‘ books. The romance felt forced for most of the book and there was a lot of telling rather than showing. I still had a great time and it was refreshing to read a stand-alone YA fantasy.

I wasn‘t that thrilled with this one. There were a million characters and I didn‘t connect with any of them really. The romances felt a bit forced and it didn‘t quite get as “dark” as I wanted it to. However it was super easy to read and it really picked up in the last act so I think a so-so sums it up perfectly

swishandflick Exactly how I felt! 2y
sdrosereads I actually disliked all of them. LOL No desire to read further and its supposed to be 4 parts. 2y
Brittbritt @sdrosereads I get that, I actually think it does improve a little in the sequel but it should only be a duology, four books is ridiculous. 2y

This book definitely could have been at least 300 pages shorter if the plot had been tighter and there had been less repetition but I was surprised how much I liked this.

Chaol is my favourite character in this series and he has come so far from where he was in the first book. The strongest parts of this for me was how it dealt with PTSD and depression. The weakest was Nesryn who continues to be incredibly boring.

Elisa This is the first TOG book I chose not to purchase/read, but ok enjoying the reviews! Now for something unrelated... which Brandon Sanderson book is on top of the stack? 😊 2y
Brittbritt @Elisa haha its The Final Empire but the whole Mistborn trilogy is there 😊 need to read more of his books!! 2y
bookloo Question! Does SJM give Chaol justice in this one? I was a huge Chaol fan from the very beginning of the series and had to stop reading after Queen of Shadows because I felt she massacred his character. 2y

Elisa Ah yes that's the next Sanderson on my list! Reading Elantris now and I don't love it but I have nevertheless been oddly sucked in 😅 Read Warbreaker a couple of years ago and it's soooo goood 😍 2y
Brittbritt @bookloo yeah, it was definitely his redemption arc and I think it was handled well and addressed a lot of the crappy things in QoS and EoS. I saw someone say this is Chaol's Heir of Fire and I agree with that 100%. 2y
Brittbritt @Elisa yeah Warbreaker is definitely next on my list, heard only good things!! 2y

I liked this book a lot for reasons I was not expecting to. I was surprisingly never scared but I enjoyed the mysteriousness of Derry.

The friendship aspect of this book was obviously the best part and I loved how important it was throughout the book. I did think the book dragged and I don't even want to talk about how women are presented in this book. Overall I am really happy I read it and cannot wait for the movie!

Flew through this book! It was lighthearted and fun. Found myself wanting to read the dialogue out loud because it was so funny. It also touched on many important issues such as disability, racism and sexuality which you don't often see discussed during this period and are still prevalent today unfortunately.

There was a major focus on training and learning how to control her magic rather than just skipping to expert level like most YA which was refreshing. The world had so much depth with traditions, politics, history and culture I fully fell into it. I did find myself a bit lost in all of the description but it still was a solid unique and diverse YA fantasy with surprising Name of the Wind vibes. I can't wait for the next one!
