I really enjoyed this witchy coming-of-age YA novel. Clara is an Everwitch, whose power is at maximum strength year round, unlike other witches who only have maximum power in their birth season. The downside of having this power is that her magic is difficult to control, and seeks to harm those whom she loves best. I enjoyed watching her try to learn how to master this power, while also dealing with self doubt and fear. ⬇️

This is such an atmospheric, creepy haunted house book. There were some things I saw coming, but many surprises to. I did the audiobook, and wouldn't necessarily recommend that for anyone who finds slasher type horror particularly creepy, but other than two chapters that I listened to in 30 second increments, I enjoyed the book.

Cute, lighthearted cozy mystery. Clare, the amateur sleuth, has an adorable Standard Poodle companion named Faith, who adds a lot of heart to the story. The Halloween theme adds fun.

This was a really solid modern gothic tale of secrets, lies, and murder. I loved the overall formatting - our main character writing to a lawyer asking for help and telling her story after a devastating occurrence - and trying to figure out exactly what did happened. Great narrator too! 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫 #scarathlon2022 #teamslaughter #boomspinbingo #outstandingoctober #bookishbingo #octoberbookbingo (coffee shop) continued in comments…
A delightful cozy mystery! I loved the way the feisty main character, Mia, speaks her mind and never compromises her principles. Set in Salem, Massachusetts, which sounds like a fun and funky town. I have added it to my travel bucket list! This was the first in a series, and I look forward to reading more.
Thanks @Allylu for another great pic for #TrappedOnAnIsland! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was such a huge fan of R.L. Stone‘s original Fear Street books as well as Christopher Pike when I was in middle school/early high school and I‘m so glad Netflix has started turning some of them into shows! This first book in the revamped Fear Street series was just what I expected and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nothing mind blowing or too twisted but just teenagers being teenagers and scares for all. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 #teamslaughter #scarathlon2022

There are monsters in the woods and only the children can see them. A very spooky, horror read.

This is a wonderfully curated selection of 20 SFF short stories that I probably wouldn't have read otherwise. The stories cover a wide range from high fantasy to the paranormal to near future to deep space sci-fi. Many of the stories were sad. It's very easy to see the influence of covid-19 on the genre within these stories.
My favorites were The Pizza Boy by Meg Elison, The Red Mother by Elizabeth Bear, and Skinder's Veil by Kelly Link.
