Unraveling Oliver | Liz Nugent
post image
Pickpick

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a great title! Unraveling Oliver is just that. It starts off with Oliver and his wife, Alice, in the throes of an argument where he beats her u conscience. After that we get go back to the beginning of Oliver. We get each persons POV of Oliver through the years as well as narration by Oliver to understand the makings of a sociopath.

I loved the lead up to how it all unfolds or unravels

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is how you do a twisty thriller!!!

I love complicated, complex people, being manipulated by POV all to enhance an exceptional plot! I‘ll definitely be reading more of this author.

This is what Riley Sager attempts to do but doesn‘t quite make it there. Hopefully that author will improve but for now I‘ll keep reading this guy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😢this book is terrifying!!! Imagine a world where AI will dictate your marriage and Alexa type devices listens to your lives and other end is the government. Marrs never disappoints and his fears about our not so distant future makes The Black Mirror seem like child‘s play.

bookandbedandtea I love him and agree that his books are made more terrifying by seeming plausible. 2w

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️how anyone survived what she did is a miracle. Maybe not unscathed but going forward she gets to decide how tidy or messy her life is. She‘s a grown ass woman. Shame in her family for doing more harm than good😡. Parenting is loving and supportive. Not facilities and Corning someone to work for you. Burns my ass when he says “I‘m Britney Spears now”.

⭐️⭐️unpopular opinion coming. I love this author but this one just wasn‘t for me. It‘s not a bad book! I wasn‘t the audience for it. Too many platitudes and too easy and quick redemption arc.

🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 I can literally feel the influence this author and this story had on H.P. Lovecraft. For me the true horror comes in the feel and atmosphere of dread. And nothing gives off those vibes like being along in the woods. Nature has a way of being terrifying just by being in their realm.

Blackwood had influenced many of our cosmic horror authors and yet they all seem more famous than he. . This was a most satisfying read.

🌟🌟🌟I feel the subject matter for this was lightly handled. The subject of police shootings of black men is way more complex than this. The tidy ending between the friendship of Jen (white) and Riley (black) I feel would@have been more deeply wounded in the real world. Having been around these conversations with both black people and with cops, I feel my exposure may have allowed me to see that the realities are way deeper.

Aww this was the perfect book for the fall, Halloween, spooky season!!! Five big pumpkins!

This follows Salem almost a century after the witch trials. Alice and her young daughter come to Salem to find Alice husband who went missing. What she finds is a boatload of mystery, history and spooky shenanigans!

I loved this story with its perfect atmosphere, mystery and some historical elements.

If you like your fairy tales a bit dark, whimsical and twisty with a side of humor, this is your pick. Some very good elements here with magic, although I found the quest a bit boring at times, which left me putting the book aside.
The characters were fine, the world needed to be explored more deeply for me to get a good handle on it. would have liked more scenes like the goblin market with more magical beings like the toothetaker.

🌟🌟 I get it! Perseverance, tenacity, never giving up, pining for youth etc. with that said, there is also a time for letting go.

A dark and haunting story of the Icelandic convict Agnes Magnúsdóttir. A woman convicted in the 1800s of murdering 2 men along with 2 others in a joint conspiracy.

🌟nope! I love a closed room mystery, isolation, trapped in cold books. Unlikeable characters if you can tell them apart, using slasher one by one trope like a bad horror movie. John Marrs has not disappointed me yet! So far I can definitely depend on him to entertain me from prologue to epilogue

A deeply engrossing page-turner with twist after crazy twist. My only grumble is the author may have gone on too long with the story, because I started piecing things together a lot earlier than maybe I should have. But that‘s ok, I loved it anyways as I have all his books
