July‘s pick for #QueerBC is Nino Cipri!

If you‘ve read this author before, drop a recommendation or let us know what you‘ll be reading.

This isn‘t an author I know so I‘m excited to see what people think.

You;‘ve still got time to read June‘s author Zen Cho or recommend some books for #PrideRec2025

PuddleJumper Can't tag people. Will do so later on tonight 3h

Mehso-so

Jess, having recently moved to Malaysia w/ her parents, starts hearing a voice in her head that claims to be her grandmother who needs help w/ some unfinished business. Only then Jess gets mixed in w/ a god, gangsters, & family secrets.

I really loved the world building & the fantastical elements in this. But there was something about how Jess & Ah Ma‘s relationship shifted that bugged me. & this got much darker than I usually enjoy.🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

I learned a lot from this one about non-binary gender identity and asexuality. Kobabe does an excellent job of conveying the confusion and isolation e felt as e was coming of age. The art is beautiful.

Edmund White died on Tuesday. I first read The Beautiful Room is Empty in college. It was profoundly moving, and I learned a great deal from it. Recently I've been looking forward to reading his recently published “sex memoir.“ He was a great writer and an icon for many.

The Guardian had a beautiful piece to remember him:

Happy Pride Month!! 🌈
@PuddleJumper had the great idea to rec some books for each color of the pride flag!
Here are some favorites for Hot Pink - Sex 🩷💖
These books feature characters that start a relationship based on sex, which eventually turns into something more 😘

I wanted so much more of this, more depth, more narrative, the rather simplistic format left me a little bereft. It's still an amazing book though.

What a wild ride. Political upheaval, rebellion led by a tyrant's children, genetic engineering, fanciful creatures, non-binary characters. It was everything. #QueerBC @PuddleJumper #LitsyAtoZ I used the author's name @Texreader

Happy Pride Month everyone! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

The tagged book is my choice for June‘s #QueerBC and I can‘t wait to get to it. I‘ve loved everything else I‘ve read by Zen Cho, although this looks pretty different.

#SundayFunday Hope you all have a safe and wonderful day, and don‘t forget to tag me!

julesG It's good, if a bit weird. I truly enjoyed it. 2w

It is time to pick the #QueerBC author for July;

https://forms.gle/wFB1MJ7b7vk9FwzG9

There's a lot going on in June because of Pride

The chosen author is Zen Cho

There is also #PrideRec2025 where you can recommend books around the Pride flag and there's even a bingo board for those that like that.
