Very repetitive and slow, but the early medieval history was interesting.

Another #roll100 and November #doublespin. This was a tough read for me…felt sluggish right up to the last 100 pages…perhaps I wasn‘t reading carefully enough…I struggled to follow.

TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! 2d
Reggie His writing style. It‘s rough to get through sometimes. 21h
JackOBotts @Reggie ~ good to know. I want to read other titles. 🤞🏻 I get into his groove. 11h

Soft pick because I've struggled with the writing style and how the book skips around. But that does actually fit the author and her life. It's a rough memoir, an open one. It must have taken a lot of courage, energy and heart to write all this down. An eye-opener, for sure, and a important voice to listen to.

Well researched, but the chapters were very long, except for 2 of them. I never knew about a Women's Orchestra at Auschwitz. The Nazis made them play for the people arriving at the platform where the prisoners were sent right to live or left to die.

Finished in the camper. These short stories are a lot to take in and devastating in many ways. My favorite, the longest of the stories, is Negosios. Most of the stories are clearly autobiographical. All are about the Dominican immigrant experience. Negocios is tdd from the POV of a son whose father left for the U.S. planning (or claims) to bring his family after earning money. He starts a second family. Diaz pulls no punches. #doublespin

March 2025 Book #7 second book in Alex Stern series) I thought it would be a duology but not, third book is expected by September 2026. Well the ending suggests that a third book is coming. This book started very slow, I even thought if it was necessary a second book but then…the action starts. It has many twists and there is no way to describe it without spoilers. If you liked the first book, you will enjoy this one but ⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) stay with the story since it is a little slow at the beginning. This is the style I expect in this author. Never like Six of Cows but still good. 3.8⭐️

Another really good book by Erdrich. I love the banter of her characters.

It‘s a really strange story- read the blurb. If you like this author I think you‘ll enjoy this one.

Hooked_on_books Is Sietje still enjoying being a tiger? I‘m going to guess you‘ve gotten “what kind of dog is that” more than once on walks since her makeover. 4d
Soubhiville @Hooked_on_books She doesn‘t care at all. And when we go for walks and when clients come in to work I constantly get asked what kind of dog she is or “is it natural?” 🤪 I probably won‘t do color on her again, as I didn‘t anticipate how much attention we‘d be getting!! 4d

Hooked_on_books I say you dye her bright pink just to see if people ask if it‘s natural! 😂 4d

This was a cute witchy romance!

The premise is super fun. It‘s about two witches who fall in love during a spell casting reality show competition. The competition parts were very entertaining to read.

The romance aspect worked very well. The two leads, Penelope and Gil, made a great couple. I loved their dynamic and their chemistry.
