Lisa Waller Rogers wrote a wonderful book of American history. When PeopleWere Things shows us the true history of those who fought for the end of slavery. Harriet Beecher Stowe was a Christian woman who wanted to see the abolishment of slavery in the US as did Abe Lincoln. They & MANY others fought for this because they believed it‘s what God intended for us all & what the Declaration of Independence intended as well.

Started reading this evening! This was my BOTM I chose for November, but it was a member‘s favorite not an actual BOTM you choose. I‘m just getting to read it now 😞 anyway, I‘m about six chapters in and so far I‘m really excited about reading it. Can‘t wait to read more!

Seven Sisters by M.L. Bullock. Book 1 📘 in a series of 7+ books 📚 . And I have them all.😬 I hope I like this series.🫤 Been reading tonight and the story is starting off fairly quickly so here we go!

Started a couple weeks ago. Read several chapters tonight while my husband sit and watched car you-tube videos and before putting my mom to bed. Just finished my reading for today as it‘s time for bed. 🛏️ Goodnight all! Goodnight 💤😴🌙.

According to the book "When People Were Things," a possible quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln regarding the Emancipation Proclamation is: "If my name ever goes into history, it will be for this act, and my whole soul is in it.". This aligns with historical accounts of Lincoln's commitment to freeing enslaved people through the Emancipation Proclamation.

Finished ✔️ Loved this book by Dan LaRock! From the wisdom of his grandfather from the 1960s. It was wisdom then and it‘s wisdom now! Loved that he shared his grandfather‘s words with us and I thank him for that. And I thank God for giving his grandfather the words. God knew it would be as needful today as then! Recommend to those who want to expand their faith and knowledge of God and the Bible and history.

Finished!✔️ Just an OK book for me. It wasn‘t scary to me really. It was a good book. Interesting but just OK for me. Some may really like it and like I said it is interesting, but it wasn‘t what I thought it would be. I always look for houses to be haunted and this wasn‘t about a house being haunted. It was more about land being haunted, which is OK but just not what I thought it was.

Been reading this today. It‘s coming along. It‘s full of wisdom from his grandfather. I know it must be precious to him to have all this his grandfather wrote in the 1960s.

Been reading #WhenPeopleWereThings by Lisa Waller Rogers. So far it‘s a great book. I haven‘t read too far into it, because I just started reading recently, but so far it‘s spot on in the truth of history. It‘s an arc from #netgalley . Looking forward to reading more. 🙂📚🍂🧡🍂🙂

I bailed on this one. I just couldn‘t continue. I was too bored and the chapters were way too long and I just couldn‘t finish it. Sorry anyone who might have liked it. 😔 It just wasn‘t for me.

Just started today! It‘s my #BookoftheMonth for October and my spooky read for spooky month.

Scooting in at the very last minute…….What kind of word is this??? ☺️ Who would say I am verklempt?? I‘m sure there are some out there who might 🤔 but I don‘t know any 🤭.
“I‘m so verklempt today due to my friend‘s passing.” Make it make sense 🤭😂 All I can say is “What a word” 🫨😵💫

Very nice book on Winston Churchill and his life and career with the Windsors! He lived a great life serving the monarchy whether they liked it or not 😂. Sometimes they butted heads but mostly were intrigued and respectful towards each other. Each King and Queen he served with he was respectful of and they of him. He lived through some trying times with them. Ty Net Galley for the arc!

This was a really good historical account of the mess ups in the United States, from slavery, to the Challenger disaster, and to collapses in our economy or the stock markets. It gives a really good account and shows how mistakes and failures can help us, if we move forward in a positive way, to survive and thrive again.

True crime story of Janet March‘s murder by her husband Perry March. They lived in Nashville, Tennessee and to others, their life looked like a perfect life, but it was far from that. Janet paid with her life for trusting in Perry March. It was a good story but kind of slow for me. Lots of law talk and evidence talk. That was good but it can go on too much for me sometimes and I get overwhelmed by it I guess.

Really good! Great for spooky month! 😃 I don‘t want to spoil anything but a grieving mother who‘s life is kind of in a downward spiral because of her grief and loss, gets a job to finish a job of finishing a build of a home of a woman who has disappeared and was the home‘s builder before disappearing. Did you get all that?😬 It‘s a great read! I read it fairly quickly for me 🙂 Thank you to Net Galley, publishers, and author for arc

Been reading this book most of the day. It‘s starting to get more interesting to me because I‘m getting to the place in the book where I know more about the time in history when King Edward III abdicated and his brother and late Queen Elizabeth‘s , father, King George VI had to take the throne….so been reading most of the day, should finish sooner than I thought, but not sure.

My book haul from Book of the Month for August. Yes, I am officially behind 🫢🫣😩 I don‘t like getting behind, but I am there. 🤫😑 anyway…I picked for my BOTM The Man No One Believed for my August book and the Wedding Dress Sewing Circle was free! because of my BD in August. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 So I can‘t wait to read either one but starting with The Man No One Believed right now today. #HappyReading everyone!

By Rebecca Lafferty this is a compelling true story of the Rebecca in her childhood, tells of her father‘s crimes, and her thoughts through it all. I just rated it three stars because it was kind of slow for me reading, but it is a heartbreaking and devastating story. Had some language but only 2-3 times mostly. There is mention of abuse, of course, so if you are sensitive to that you might not want to read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Loved book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It had a good story. Writing was great and flowed well. Had some language. More than I liked. Fast pace.

I didn‘t finish.😔 I thought I would like it and I still might, I‘m just saving it for another day, maybe, if I decide to give it another try. Everyone seemed to like it but I just couldn‘t get into it.

I thought I‘d reviewed this 😔 I finished multiple books at a time and was trying to review them all and forgot some along the way, I guess. This one is a hard one to review which might be a reason as well. But Columbine was a really interesting and gripping read, but a heartbreaking one. It still left me wondering and still wanting answers. I can only imagine what the parents and those who lost loved ones feel.
#LitsyReads #Read2025 #nonfiction

I thought I had already reviewed this one here but alas I have not 😬 so here I go 😁…I love history. Not all history, mind you, but still lots of certain history. Anyway, this is on the Plantagenets. The rise and fall of them. There was much turmoil within all this family. I believe it was the reason for their downfall. A house divided cannot stand. .Great read, ifyoulikehistory.

We do not care that ____ is happening in the world. Wait 🫢….yes I do care. But I don‘t need to hear about it each second ! Please news give it a rest!! Who started news every second of every day anyway??!! When did that start?? It should never have started that‘s for sure! Thank the Good Lord we can change the channel!
Rant about news constantly, over 😂

WOW is all I can say on this one. I gave it 4🌟s. It‘s about a southern church town and you won‘t believe what‘s going on in that small town. Shew. I‘m just glad it‘s fiction 😂 but if you like psychological thrillers you will like this one.
