I had to run by Costco earlier in the week & although I have been doing pretty well with my book & cookbook buying ban, all reason goes out the window when a pretty copy of P&P catches my eye. Isn't this one lovely? The color, the character list with pictures & timeline for just $10.49. 📚💜🤗 When my brother was here last year he asked me how many copies of Pride and Prejudice I thought I needed. As many as it takes, Bob, as many as it takes! 🤣
A family is in a tizzy that a rich, eligible bachelor has moved in nearby and the mother desperately wants to marry off her eldest daughter so she can be rich. His best friend is hot but rude and naturally her 2nd eldest, headstrong daughter hates him then falls in love with him, to the delight of her family.

I‘m going to remember this book now every time I encounter someone named Lydia 😂 Feel bad for the Bennet family.
I‘m not much of a Star Wars fan, so ........ 😆😆

First they had to get past the pride and the prejudice, then it was #nevergoingtogiveyouup.😄 This was the cover of the book I read when I was a teen.

Ok so I read this to prepare myself for a P&P retelling, and I‘m thinking maybe this just isn‘t the best way to introduce yourself to classic literature? I didn‘t know what to expect, and once I got used to the writing style it still felt like it took over half of the book for a plot to develop. And I hear so many people go on about how great this book is. What did I miss?? Does anyone have any suggestions for getting into classics?
Last night my husband took me to see Pride and Prejudice at The KC rep. Lovely venue and a fun show. They adapted PnP to be more of a comedy, and definitely not my favorite retelling. But despite the artistic liberties they took, ( think hip hop dancing at the Netherfield ball), it was an enjoyable show!

Another great category!
Have you read any of these?!
A classic for a reason, I‘m so glad I finally read this superb telling of 19th century life. As with many of the books written in this era, P&P tells of the pressures of young women to marry, and to do so with financial security. The characters are varied, from the slightly downtrodden Mrs Bennet to the acidic Lady Catherine de Bourgh. A great insight into regency life and a simply wonderful love story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“The two first dances, however, brought a return of distress; they were dances of mortification. Mr. Collins, awkward and solemn, apologizing instead of attending, and often moving wrong without being aware of it, gave her all the shame and misery which a disagreeable partner for a couple of dances can give. The moment of her release from him was ecstasy.”
My first time ever ‘reading‘ this. I‘ve never even seen a TV adaptation! It‘s time to right that wrong. #Audible
Day Five #Library30 : #FavoriteBook
If you‘ve followed me long enough, it should come as no surprise that this is my favorite book. I‘m a Janeite and am obsessed with all things Jane Austen.
But, it‘s also hard to pick just one favorite book. This is one I‘ve reread countless times, but there are so many others that have impacted my life so much that I bore people to tears talking about them (non-Littens, Of course!).
After Darcy met Elizabeth the first time, she is on his mind most of the time. Even if he doesn't like to be in love with her, she is his #wonderwall . #anglophileapril

I feel awful! I have been remiss in thanking Cynthia @CrowCAH for the lovely #pnp giveaway. I was on a work trip when this arrived and my husband put it away “in a safe place” for me. I‘ve only just now found it!! Thank you so much 🙏🏻
A cabinet full of Austen's "Pride and Prejudice", all the displayed editions being included in the category 'Books I Cannot Afford to Buy from George Bayntun, Antiquarian Booksellers of Bath'. Others included a £1500 edition of the "Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyám" and some Tolkien's I didn't dare look at. Not everything was out of my reach, though after a rather prodigal few days of book buying, I had to be selective.
Another beautiful Bath bookshop ?
I really enjoyed this article: https://lithub.com/jane-austens-most-widely-mocked-character-is-also-her-most-su...
If you adore BBC's Pride and Prejudice to the ridiculous extent that you are able to recite complete scene in multiple languages this gem of a behind the scenes picture is for you (other) crazy folks😘
Picking this up on top of "Crazy Rich Asians!"
Just reread this after a number of years, and I can‘t believe how much I loved it. I loved it even more this time around! What a relatable MC, and such fun. It was also the first time I read it on the gorgeous edition I got from my swap buddy last year‘s for the #janeaustenswap!
