This one has to be The Wizard Of Oz! I was obsessed with these books when I was in primary school, I haunted our local library for each book in the series. Though this one wasn‘t my favourite from it, TikTok of Oz & Ozma Of Oz have that spot, they wouldn‘t have existed without this first story. I have a beautiful bound set I‘m hoping to read with my grandbabies soon.

I decided to finally read this entire series so I started with a reread of the first book. It's the only book in the series that I've read, but I'm a huge fan of all things Oz related.
My journey down the yellow brick road was just as enjoyable as my first trip with the band of misfits. I love the friendship that develops and how each character learns to believe in themselves, with a little help of course. π

pickI had no idea this book was so different from the movie based on it. I have fond memories of the movie, mostly because it was a big event whenever it came on TV; my sister and I would be allowed to stay up late and we would have big bowls of popcorn and watch it with our parents. (This was in the days of TVs with dials that you had to change between the 3 channels by hand! π€£)
I found this copy in a LFL, and it was fun reading it!

so-soToday I finished reading the wizard of oz. I can‘t really complain about short reads because I usually just use them as a little in between to longer books. However, this is definitely a lot more violent than I remember. Definitely not for children, I struggled even as an adult :/

pickA very enjoyable classic, which I really enjoyed reading. Though a bit darker than expected at times, I loked the plot and all the whimsical characters we meet. I love the Land of Oz and the magic it brings, the short chapters with a lot happening was great, and I loved the sense of childhood it brings! Definitely need to watch the movie next so I can pick out all the differences!
I also really liked the morals of the story tooβ€
pickI really enjoyed this. Definitely a lot more going on in the book than the musical. And darker at times. Dorothy is a little girl, the shoes are silver not red, and many other differences (but not too far off the mark). Just a lot of really interesting creatures and good narrative. I listened to the free audiobook from Apple Books, and there‘s also a free eBook!

pickI don‘t think I‘ve ever read this before. The 3rd book in the series is on the best 100 fantasy list, so I figured I should get started on the first two before I read that one.
This was interesting. I can‘t believe it was written in like the 1900s. It‘s been a long time since I‘ve seen the movie, but I know it well enough to spot some of the differences.
