The Fairy Caravan | Beatrix Potter
post image

The Fairy Caravan is a celebration of the countryside and the creatures that inhabit it, and a reminder to all humans to tread softly and do as little harm to the natural world as we possibly can.

Hilda and her dog, Twig, is going on an adventure when it starts to rain and they seek shelter.

I loved the illustrations and color palette

AnneCecilie @Lindy Thank you for recommending this on your YouTube channel. I‘ve been catching up and has seen some 7 months of videos, so I might tag you in more reviews to come 2d
Lindy @AnneCecilie Thank you for this. I currently have a concussion and haven‘t created any videos for a couple of weeks… I have been thinking of quitting my channel but your message is encouragement to continue (when I feel better.) 1d
AnneCecilie @Lindy Take care of yourself and get well soon. Important to rest the head with a concussion. I think your video is one of the more dangerous one that I watch. Most talk about new books to come or just out, but you read a lot of library books. And even if English is my first language, my library seem to have a lot of the books you talk about. I have 3 more out from the library and put around 30 books on my want to borrow list at the library (edited) 1d
Lindy @AnneCecilie I‘m smiling at the thought of my channel being a dangerous one. Thanks for your good wishes. 😊😘 7h

The Alley | Eleanor Estes

Pickpick

“She thought mainly of life inside the Alley, in the beautiful, fragrant Alley. Her life was made up mainly of school and Alley.”

Soft pick - did not like this one as much as other Estes books. Love the setting and relationships though.

Texreader I am loving how you are just making your way through the alphabet!! 3d
willaful I always thought this one dragged some and doesn't hold up as well as her other books. Love the idea of the Alley though. 3d
TheAromaofBooks I reread this one recently - it's a bit choppy. 3d

July #WrapUp.

Wow! July was a really bad reading month for me. I dnf‘d The Cake House and best of the month was The Other Side of Tomorrow. Sheesh, hope August is a better reading month.

Mehso-so

I personally found this to be one of the weakest of the series so far. The plot was really choppy and a bit random (gun runners??) and, more aggravating, the gang just felt like they kept making really dumb decisions? Let's get in a boat with a stranger!! Let's go swimming all alone when the pool is closed and no one is around!! Let's leave Trixie & Honey alone in the hotel after we said the hotel wasn't safe!! Let's run off with two people we ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) barely know and don't really trust!! Honey felt bonus air-headed in a way that just didn't fit her personality to me. There were some fun shenanigans,, but this one definitely felt like a different writer from the last few.

Did the rest of you like it better than me??

PS Also pictured my soon-to-be-removed/very stained carpet 😂

TheAromaofBooks PPS This copy was yet another almost-fatality from the time my then-puppy got into the Trixe Belden shelf and wreaked havoc!!! 6d
lauraisntwilder To be honest, I keep putting this one down and not wanting to pick it back up. What teenager, in any decade, would have been hellbent on getting to ride down the Mississippi? Especially a group of teens from NY who literally just competed in a boat race in the Atlantic? 5d

I was reminded of this book recently and couldn‘t remember if I‘d ever actually read it? Graeme Base feels very familiar to me as a 90s Aussie kid but I‘ve never been particularly patient (even though Where‘s Wally had me in a chokehold) so carefully searching for visual clues wouldn‘t have appealed - so it‘s very possible that I didn‘t… anyway, it‘s pretty cool (I read the answer page and made no attempt at decoding. I know who I am)
