A quick browse of a thrift store secured me this copy of this book. This book did not take me long to finish, because once started I couldn‘t put it down. I did not expect to feel so invested in this story but Melanie and Wanda touched my heart. So I will always love the original books that this is based on, and I was excited to hear that his perspective had come out as an independent story. It added a nuance to the tale that I otherwise would not have gotten. For that alone, this is a solid pick. I do however implore the potential reader to read her perspective first. I love these books for the action and the camaraderie, the world building and the adrenaline rush, but even more so these quiet moments of reflection from Drizzt in the beginning of a section should never be overlooked because they add a deeper layer of emotion. Hands down ended up the favorite of this series, so far. But I was so angry (confused?) at first. I didn‘t expect the dark twist (perhaps I should have?) and was so angry at Tamlin! But the city was a shock, and her growth was inspiring. And I must say Rhysand is a surprise.
