A Horse Walks Into a Bar | David Grossman, Jessica Cohen
post image

This book was recommended to me by a fellow #LibraryThing member with the expectation that I don‘t bail on this book and read it through to the very end. Let‘s see how I do! 😃. David Grossman is an #Israeli author I really admire although I don‘t always make it through some of his books. I‘ll give this book my best try, though.

BarbaraBB I loved most of his books! 1w
SqueakyChu @BarbaraBB I‘m still trying to read them. However, I did bail on See:Under Love. I really enjoyed The ZigZag Kid. 1w
BarbaraBB I LOVED this one, it‘s one of my all time favorites: 1w

SqueakyChu @BarbaraBB I actually have that one somewhere here at home. I‘ll have to find it and move it up higher on my To Read list! 😃 1w
BarbaraBB Really? I would give it a try if I were you. It is gripping from the first page I thought and heartbreaking 💔 1w
SqueakyChu @BarbaraBB Will do. Thanks for the recommendation! 1w

Just got this ARC in the mail. I won it on LibraryThing! Thanks @WilliamMorrowBooks and @LibraryThing

I‘ve never heard of the author and it seems like she writes a lot! A historical fiction series and for the TV show The Librarians and a Marvel show.

A mom has a meltdown because her son won‘t wear his costume and it‘s posted online. A new mom posted it and is trying to remain anonymous.

The question of what to read next was just answered with the delivery of this #LibraryThing #earlyreviewer book. Interesting to note that the copyright date is 2011. Not sure if this is just now being released in the US. Should be interesting. I‘ve liked some of Colgan‘s books that I‘ve read, others not so much. She‘s not an author I‘d go out of my way to read. So we shall see.

I started reading this book last night. I love reading contemporary #Japanese fiction so I feel certain this book will appeal to me. I‘m reading it as a shared read with three others on the #TIOLI challenges on #LibraryThing. Cute rice ball image on it‘s cover, eh? 😃

Smrloomis I LOVE that cover 😂 and I do mean ❤️❤️❤️ 2w
Jee_HookedOnBookz Such an adorable cover💕💕 2w

bookwrm526 I read this one last year and found it very odd and slow but somehow still engrossing...the cover is delicious though 2w
SqueakyChu @bookwrm526 I usually like odd but hate slow. I‘ll see how it goes. 😃 2w

Schedule for Group Read of #EvilGames, Book 2 in the DI Kim Stone Series, which I am leading on #Librarything.

If it is anyway near as good as book 1 we are in for a great treat.

Has anyone else read this series? Enjoy it?

#KimStoneGroupRead #AngelaMarsonsGroupRead #2

Tove_Reads I loved it! 2w
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads That‘s good enough for me. 😊 2w
Tove_Reads I think she might become even my all-time fave detective series author! 2w
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Based on the first one I am not surprised by your statement. 2w
EadieB @Andrew65 Thanks for the schedule! 2w

Perhaps my most difficult 2020 resolution, goal, punishment, mountain to climb, is my self-declared aim to not purchase any books, new or used this year. My sister was to quick to be a good sister/bibliophile/enabler and say "Well you can't buy books for yourself, but that doesn't mean I can't buy you books ?!" In 2019 I said I could buy 1 new book a month and buy as many secondhand that I could lay my hands on and I took that to heart. (cont.)

LitDrivenGirl I succeeded & realized there are SO MANY books on my shelves I haven't read yet & financially I really need to situate myself in a more positive direction. This is difficult for me because buying books is what I do for a living (that won't stop for the shop) & I usually get first pick. Buying books brings me a great deal of happiness & now I need to focus my "happiness getting" in other ways ?. What are you aiming for in your 2020 reading lives? 2w
SqueakyChu A book buying ban is no fun plus it NEVER works! 2w

SqueakyChu My goal is to read enjoyable books at random using the TIOLI challenges on #LibraryThing to help me select books. It should be a fun reading year., 2w
LitDrivenGirl @SqueakyChu true. This year I have a few people holding me accountable so maybe that will work... this time 😏. Haha I'm planning to TIOLI too! 2w

This book is getting tough to read. Its characters are SO annoying! As you can see, I‘m taking a #PokemonGo break. I‘ll then have to decide if I want to finish this book. I‘ll probably try to continue it as it‘s a shared read for a #TIOLI challenge on #LibraryThing.

umbrellagirl Bronzer! 3w
SqueakyChu Yep! He‘s my current buddy! 😃 3w
SqueakyChu I like that Bronzer‘s colors match this book‘s cover. 😂 3w
SqueakyChu I‘m bailing on this book. I hate the characters who are all disrespectful individuals. The action is too chaotic, and I‘m unable to follow the details of the plot. I thought I‘d give this book a chance, but I really hate this story. (edited) 3w

I‘m not sure about this book. I won a copy of it on #LibraryThing Early Reviewers, but it was never sent to me. I found a large print version of it in my library so I‘m reading it now. So far I hate all of its characters. I sure do hope this book gets better as it‘s set in my own city of #Rockville #Maryland!

MicheleinPhilly I won this from Library Thing and never received it either! 3w
SqueakyChu @MicheleinPhilly I was really disappointed when it didn‘t arrive, but I‘ve won so many other books from LT that I just moved on to other reads. A few others haven‘t arrived, but most do. 3w

In 2019 I managed to read 70 books. 5 books over my planned 65. A big plus, I also managed to get more sleep which was my main overall goal for the year. For next year I‘m only planning to set a goal of 50 books. I will likely read more but I have some projects that will take up time and I don‘t want to stress myself. I‘ll once again be doing the Category Challenge at #LibraryThing, NonFictionCAT, and #NewYearWhoDis. Happy Reading in 2020!📚

Lindy Hooray for sleep! And well done on your reading challenge. 🥳 3w
Liatrek Happy New Year 🎉🎉 3w
tracey38 Happy New Year! I finished last night having read 70 books for the year as well. 🙂📚 3w
VioletBramble @tracey38 Yay for completing 70 books.! It‘s such a good number. Happy New Year! 3w
