Pickpick

"I'm so glad" I finally read this.
"I'm so glad" for the second half.
"I'm so glad" I'm finished.

Even though I enjoy descriptive prose, this felt long and I was happy for the turn of events midway through. Following the new Mrs. de Winter as she entered her new life was rather boring. She's young, shy, and naive. It seemed like she didn't know anything or had ever played pretend to imagine herself as a lady of means or as anyone who ⬇️

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick experienced much of anything. Much of the dialogue felt stilted, with too many tears or no answers. Luckily things pick up and there was some real dialogue & we aren't just walking from one room to another in Manderley. I also can't in God conscience consider this romantic. There was no romance between the newlyweds. It felt like Max acted like he'd just brought a newly found daughter home to stay. ⬇️ 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Overall this is a pick, but not one I'll push into someone's hands, imploring them to finally read it.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 3y
rubyslippersreads I ❤️ this book, but I‘ve never thought of it as a romance. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @rubyslippersreads I was going to use it for a genre hybrid prompt (it says romantic suspense right on the cover) but having read it, I'll just pick another one. I can't in good conscience assign it as such. 😂 3y

Pickpick

I loved this short story by Daphne du Maurier so much, I am putting the story collection on my #BookSpinBINGO card for April. And there‘s a movie! Think I‘ll give that a try as well. 🍿 #aamddm

Thanks for hosting #AuthorAMonth, @Soubhiville ! I‘ve always meant to read beyond Rebecca. ❤️

It‘s somehow already the end of March #AuthorAMonth readers. I enjoyed reading Daphne du Maurier, and most of your reviews seemed positive too.

Please comment below with the number of books by Daphne du Maurier you read. Or if you prefer to post a collage of your reading, just use the hashtag #AAMDdM and be sure to tag me so I see it.

Soubhiville Read as many or as few as you like. At the end of the year there is a prize box for “Most Read.”

There will also be randomly drawn prizes- everyone who has read at least one Author a Month book and is still active on Litsy is entered into those random drawings.
As always, just let me know if you‘d like to be added or removed from my tag lists. ❤️📚
