A Christmas Candy Killing | Christina Romeril

This was just okay for me. I never really connected with the MC and there were so many characters to keep up with. I was, however, surprised by the killer…didn‘t see it coming!

Charming and innovative adaptation of the ghost of Christmas past, Nolan, haunting Harriet York. As they explore both their pasts, there is a feeling of more than magic between them…

Thanks to Bloomsbury Publishing and Libro.fm for the ALC!This was a beautiful, if sad, story of two women separated by centuries but whose lives were incredibly similar. The women were both so autistically coded that it was painful at times. This didn‘t detract from the narrative, but I had to put the book down occasionally. This was also the story of a peat bog. I felt like I could almost smell it at times throughout the story. #bookspinbingo

What a book! It grabs you right off. Kelley Armstrong Haven Rock is a spin-off from her Rockton Series. It's captivating, and thrilling. How does she write such captivating books?

Armstrong has created and developed a riveting series. She has developed Casey and Dillon so much from her first book in the Rokton series to now in her latest book in Haven's Rock 'First Sign of Danger.' They are know parents of a 6 month old. While out on ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read ⬆️ a walk one day. they come across 2 hikers. When one ends up dead the next day, Casey has a mystery to solve. Who are they? Are they just hikers or could they been from the council of Rockton trying to spy on them? What's really going on with the mining operation near them?

I feel as though I am visiting old friends when I read this series. Through Armstrong's writing, I have come to enjoy the characters and feel I know them like friends. If you read this series, go pre-order this book, or run to your nearest store or library and get it on February 17, 2026.

Thank you to the Tantor Media and Libro.fm for the ALC of this book!

Strata combines the deep past of the earth, human history of the places the author travels to, the lives of the people she meets, and just a bit of the author‘s own life. Instead of being one person‘s struggle, we see how the past is understood through the present and how the present can be understood through the past. #bookspinbingo

This was a very unique read! I hadn‘t read anything like it before.

It blends fact and fiction to create a “history” of animals starting from the Paleozoic Era all the way to present day and beyond. Basically it personifies animals and tells their story in relation to humans. The animals are presented in a very human way.
