Really enjoyed this mystery set in the heat and dry landscape of the Australian Outback. It could work well as a movie or miniseries. Entertaining, with twists and turns and even some romance.

Loved it. A man dies in the middle of nowhere and no one understands how or why. The plot starts out so focused and small and then opens up over time to reveal more characters & more complexities. A great slow burn.

Just getting into this and loving the set up. The premise is like a locked door mystery- except it takes place in Australia‘s outback.

Australian brother is found dead, miles from his car. No sign of violence. What happened what lead up to this?

I really enjoyed the slow boil of this one, and the heavy emphasis on the environment as a factor in not just the death but in the lives of the locals.

I'm a huge Jane Harper fan. I love her writing style and the images it invokes. The stories are wonderful mysteries that slowly unravel the truth told by characters that are flawed and dealing with their emotions. The Lost Man did not disappoint.

Cameron is found dead at a gravesite in an isolated corner of the family's outback property. His car is not nearby, what is he doing there? And how did he get there?

Wow. I finished this book yesterday and am still thinking through the various layers of the story. This book is about the impact on a family when one member is found dead of dehydration & exposure to the elements on their property in the Australian outback. Thought provoking and beautifully written.

This author, once again, blew me out of the water. Originally heard of Jane Harper after I read “The Dry.” Was a huge fan of the writing and storytelling so I decided to give this book a whirl. Super stoked I did. The characters are relatable, warm, and genuine. Harper manages to flawlessly intertwine multiple themes that are sometimes hard to bring to light. The best part about this book is that it will have you guessing until the very last page

After loving “The Dry” I decided to give The Lost Man a read and I‘m glad I did. It‘s another excellent read. I feels similar to The Dry and I think this is why I enjoyed the original more. Despite this The Lost Man is still an excellent book filled with well written characters, intrigue and had me guessing until the end.

Spending tonight #audiojournaling to another of Jane Harpers brilliant Aussie crime novels. After The Dry, this is my favourite story. Set again in the bush, this time in QLD, it‘s a family drama on a large cattle property. When Cam, middle brother of three, is found dead miles away from his well stocked car, suspicions start to circulate until secrets & lies are dragged out into the light. Can you really trust family? Love the audio of this👍

My first #Booked2021 title - for the prompt Set in Australia

The setting is a remote cattle farm in the Outback. Cam Bright is found dead of exposure 10 kilometers from his vehicle. An experienced local, no one can explain how this could have happened...unless it was murder. Great family drama and tension. Also a plus-a detective-less mystery told from the POV of the victim‘s older brother.

Unintentionally Jane Harper for both. Ha! The tagged book first which was mainly read by the ocean in front of my house then The Survivors last, read on the edge of the Australian outback on my family farm. 🎧 Thank you Libby, it‘s been awhile. This is my third Jane Harper book, not from the Faulk series & oddly my favorite. The Outback becomes a character. It‘s so well defined. The story slowly unfolds. It‘s like you‘re pulled in with the players and come to know them. Great character development and location building. Good drama/mystery! The narrator was amazing and that Aussie accent, immersive book! 💗 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/3

Does anyone else always epically fail at actually completing reading challenges but LOVES to plan for them? Just me? 😂 Got my my winter season all planned out for #Booked2021. MaleficentBookDragon So me. I love making lists, pretty collages, and plans, and then abandon them as something shiny crosses my path. 🤣😀 I was pretty good this year for the #Goodreads #MountTBR challenge; you just climb the mountain with each book you read. The only requirement is that you own the books since the prior year. I did a little more than half of my total reads from older books I had. Now all the books I got this year are added to next year‘s mountain. 1y

There is a mystery to be solved in this book; however, Jane Harper has created something so much more. In remote Australia, Nathan tries to figure out how his middle brother died out on their cattle land. There are interesting family dynamics and a lot of history intertwined into the mystery. I‘ve never been to Australia and Jane‘s writing made me feel immersed in the experience. I absolutely love her writing! 🧡 #MountTBR

As soon as I finished I jumped online to see if The Survivors is available. Unfortunately it's not scheduled to be published in the states until Feb. A new-ish author delivering consistently impressive novels. Not my usual cup of tea but Jane Harper writes compelling fiction with plenty of twists and turns. Once again the Australian landscape broods over events and she evokes it superbly. Difficult to say more without the risk of spoilers but this one‘s up there with her two previous ones. Nathan is called home because his brother has been found dead by a grave in the middle of the outback. Once again a good story that shows you Australia and the dangers of living in the outback. What this family is hiding is one aspect and what is not seen or told is another. Somethings just not right. Seems like this ended a bit abruptly but all in all another good book by this author.

Setting Australian outback. Family saga about the Bright family. Not part of Aaron Falk series. 2 Brothers meet and 3rd brother is found dead. Lots of family secrets which Harper peels back brilliantly. Twists and turns abound to a shocking ending. Perfectly paced and characters nicely drawn. The outbacks landscape and heat is separate character. Looking forward to Harper's next book. Highly recommended.

The plot revolves around three brothers. They are different personalities with somewhat difficult or fortunate paths. One of them ends up dead, and this is where the story starts.

Jane Harper make us, readers, believe that the murdered brother was a good guy, almost like a saint. But every saint has a bee in his halo...

This book is for you if you love:
crime, but a slow burn
abuse in a family
the mystery of the past
