Frank Sinatra, “It Was a Very Good Year“ :)
Just the first couple chapters in, but the main character is very nostalgic.

My choice is a bit out there, but ... the lyrics state “I know that you don't know it
but you're fine“--just like the narrator thinks of herself in REBECCA. And Maxim de Winter finally tells her “Treasure, that is what you are; honey, you're my golden star,“ in so many words. So, hence my choice. 😍
It had an extremely slow start and the slow pace carried through the book. The novel has a lovely writing style with lush long descriptions and an intriguing plot told by an unnamed narrator. I loved the suspense and mystery, though a main thing was predictable, the reasoning and events weren't. I really enjoyed the way this novel played out, though at times I found all characters to be unlikeable, it was a good story with a sudden dramatic ending
I am super excited about these #roll100 choices! I almost picked up Rebecca last week, and the other two print choices are very tempting, too. 😎 Fear and Loathing would tick the box of classics I‘m trying to read. Looking forward to March! Plus it‘s my birthday month. 🎉🥳

Well that was GREAT! Eerie is the best word for it; I feel like I've felt so many emotions reading this, especially because of all the twists that I just wasn't expecting! I'm still on the edge of my seat and I've finished it, crikey
I was so invested in the heroine too and I loved how it got me thinking about themes like perception, time etc

It's my birthday! Check out this entirely yellow outfit I bought for myself!😂💛
Thought I'd do a little update (#BFC2022 #WinterCosy #NYWD22 @wanderinglynn @PuddleJumper @dariazeoli @monalyisha):
- To get back on track with Blogilates, I plan on doing it most days for the rest of Jan👌
- A for H - Have done most of that calendar so far!
- Yoga has also been a consistent practice - including 2 yoga classes!
- And I plan to v soon finish Rebecca!
What a WEEK! I thought I might have Covid so trekked 2 hours for a pcr test...turns out I do not have Covid but the whole shebang has left me v v tired😂 Anywho this weekend I shall be getting to page 200 of Rebecca, watch this space

Yesterday's A For H was to get moving (ideally outdoors) - I've been doing loads of Blogilates/Yoga, so I thought I'd go on a walk too - here's a blurry photo from that😂 Today's is to thank people I'm grateful for - thank you to all of you on here for being gems!💎
I'm getting through Rebecca more slowly than I'd like so tonight I want to get to at least p100!

Blogilates was SO much fun today!! And I'm excited for the 'Nourish' yoga session later😊 Today's Action for Happiness was to say positive things to the people I meet & my conversations have been filled with loveliness which has been nice😁 Rebecca is quite different to the books I've read recently so it took a bit to get my eye in - I'm now really enjoying it though!
All of these challenges are proving great for my health - thanks for running guys!! Tonight I typically would've worked later than I should have done but didn't because I was excited to do more for #BFC2022 #NYWD22 and #WinterCosy 😍
I've worked out and read more of Rebecca (aiming for page 50 today)! Later I plan on a yoga session & today's Action for Happiness is to take 5 min to sit still and just breathe which I'll do afterwards😊
What a phenomenal book. I‘m shocked at how much I loved this book as I usually find the classics to be a bit boring. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After trick or treating last night I retreated to my room and finished this audiobook. It was a really good choice to finish up spooky season for me. I‘ve read it before but really appreciated the subtle background noise and music in this audio version. #20in4 book 4/6 #scarathlon #teamslaughter #littenlisten
I went to reference something in Rebecca a few days ago and realized I couldn't find my copy so I got on Thrift books to order one, found a hard cover (yay!) And it came today and LOOK how tiny it is 😍😍😍
(Full sized Beloved for scale)
Saying goodbye to Rebecca as we end June. It sounds like list everyone liked this one.
What are your final thoughts?

I love everything and opening it while enjoying the morning air was just luscious. The tea! They all look so wonderful and because of you I‘ve found my next journal. Do you make those? I can‘t wait to start on Rebecca. I‘m adding it to my Summer reading. This was such a thoughtful package and I adore everything. Thank you so much.
Loved -a classic at its best- the themes of love and murder (romance and mystery) hold up over time, well written, the beginning and end are so well done (as well as everything in between) - and a first line that people remember or know even if they have not read the book “Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again“
Make a great day everyone!

What are your thoughts on the gothic genre? I haven‘t read much of it, but this group is definitely introducing me to more.
I feel like at times this story is so reminiscent of other ones, though I can‘t put my finger on which one yet. But there were times when I felt this was was expertly portrayed as a haunted house, to whatever degree that was true.
Any thoughts on the genre?
This went much more quickly than I expected! I came in to this read knowing nothing about the plot of this book, which is sort of rare. At first I wasn‘t sure if I would get in to it, but ended up really enjoying it.
I need to sit with this a few days to figure out what I think of it or what it reminds me of, but overall really glad I read it.

This is my late grandmother‘s copy of Rebecca. She was named Daphne Rebecca after this very book and author. I‘m FINALLY reading this, and it being her copy makes it so much sweeter 🤍
I have so many feelings!! I loved this!!
#UnpopularOpinion time. I had to force myself to finish this book. I was so bored and wasn't a fan of the main character, or really any of the characters... 😴 I feel like I'm betraying all of my fellow readers by disliking this book, but it is what it is. This was my #BookSpin pick for October. It took me over 15 days to finish because I just couldn't force myself to pick it up. 2⭐ @TheAromaofBooks
Thank you so much @jenniferw88 for my awesome #hauntedhallowswap gifts! Sorry I didn‘t post earlier, Litsy has been playing up all day and I can‘t seem to add a photo?! I‘ll try again in the morning but wanted to say thank you in the meantime. 😘
Watched the new Netflix movie today! 6pts. #teamslaughter #scarathlon 🎃 @Clwojick
Is anyone else planning to re-read (or read) this one before the Netflix movie comes out? Am I late to the party?
I took my time getting through this one but oh my god I loved it so much it‘s really encouraged me to continue on trying classics the writing was so easy to follow and the story is amazing!! 😊
Autumn shelves!! 🎃 gonna have a good go at finishing Rebecca before the month is over so I can hopefully get to some spooky reads 😬
Soooooo cosy on my sofa this afternoon. Reading Rebecca (at long last) 😁
Well that‘s any reading for the night out the window 😬
Definitely more of a summer person but hopefully some good reading and tv can get me into spooky season!!!
Hopefully this one can get me out of the slump 🤞
1. Rebecca 👍🏻♥️ I saw the old Hollywood movie... really want to read the book ( I hear there may be a prompt in 2020 that could work, not sure yet 🤞🏻( inside info)
2. None. I did reread Wuthering Heights & In Cold Blood ( not twice though)
3. God only knows 🙄
4. Ann Rule - The Stranger Beside Me - ( I don‘t read non -fiction .... 🤔
5. Any Littens who would like to join in
Thanks @Bookishthoughts for the tag 😘#Wondrouswednesday @Eggs
I enjoyed reading this more the second time, over 30 years after reading it the first time. Having a better understanding, and less romantic view of reality, made the story more frustrating, but more real. I found myself constantly wondering if Maxim's view of the story was fair and honest? I've been on the opposite side of a scorned man and his view of reality is not often objective. Was Rebecca really the cruel wife he describes? Great read.
This will be the first read of the Gothic Book Club I've set up with some friends. We start tonight and the timing is perfect because there is currently a thunderstorm outside my window. It's very distracting. Every crash makes me want to put down my work and pick up this book! Talk about setting the mood. Thank you universe!
5⭐'s. I loved it, just as much as the first time I read it in highschool! It's a truly chilling read.
Coffee station before and after we tiled it. We turned some of our kiddo‘s early art into tiles! How did you all personalize your coffee station?
Getting this read so I can send it on! It will be sent to @Kayla.Adriena by end of week! #LMPBC

Starting this lovely copy of Rebecca I got at a library sale. The descriptive writing is really satisfying so far.
#QuotsyApr19 Day 3: The #Fever of first love and first kiss. While I have practically all of Du Maurier‘s books in my shelves, it is the tagged book, one of her most famous ones that I do not have. 😂😭💕📚🧚🏼♀️
Wow. I can‘t believe I never read this book. Or saw the Olivier/Fontaine movie. I got this gorgeous illustrated copy cold during the Folio Society sale this year and I‘m so glad I did. I couldn‘t put it down! So I hit up the audiobook during my chores this weekend - the late, great Anna Massey was wonderful in her interpretation - and went back and forth. I recommend both wholeheartedly!
Mostly underwhelmed by this classic because I just couldn‘t stand the main character. I kept wanting her to do something, say something, and stop calling herself a child. 🤮

It‘s like whoa I knew that was it! It kinda bugs me you never find out the narrators name.
