BarkingMadRead @TheBookHippie I tried finding a theater curtain for the end of the #rafflesshow but I didn‘t want anyone thinking the book was over 🤣🤣 3w
Bookwormjillk RIP Raffles. It‘s murder for sure. 3w
ravenlee Absolutely murder. And worse, he set up somebody else to do it unknowingly. 3w
Clare-Dragonfly I always wonder in this chapter what a doctor would prescribe for these symptoms in the modern day. 3w
Bklover Murderer! And I loved how he tried to convince himself that he was doing the right thing. 3w

TheAromaofBooks I'm also buddy reading The Time-Traveler's Guide to Regency Britain and the punishments involved with poaching are crazy! And landlords are allowed to set literal man-traps - this article has pictures - https://www.jaynedavisromance.co.uk/man-traps-and-poachers - it's crazy!!! 2mo

BarkingMadRead @TheAromaofBooks I‘m behind on the other book, and the poaching thing really irritates me! 2mo
Bookwormjillk He was just so surprised they didn‘t thank him for forcing them to beat their kid 2mo
CoffeeNBooks Im trying to get caught up today... Mr. Brooke and Mr. Casaubon are both just uggh. Just when I think things can't get any worse for Dorothea, they do. 😕 2mo

Chapter 1: Mr Collins arrives and we get a peek at what a lovely man Mr Bennet is 🙄🙄 and a peek at how James feels about life and love. #mrbennetisanass #soismrcollins #pemberlittens #chapteraday

CrowCAH Nothing like an odious man coming for a visit! 9mo
peanutnine I hate how Mr Bennett treats Mrs Hill with no respect. Everything is a joke to him 9mo

BarkingMadRead @peanutnine yes! I was really angry! 9mo
Bklover Yes- Mr Bennet was just plain mean to her 9mo
MoonWitch94 Mr. Bennett is a pompous dick in this novel! 😵‍💫 #isaidwhatisaid 🤪 9mo
BarkingMadRead Lol @MoonWitch94 I totally agree! He wasn‘t an ideal human in P&P but this is so much worse 9mo
CoffeeNBooks I was so surprised by Mr. Bennet's treatment of Mrs. Hill, especially since we've just previously read that Mrs. Bennett wanted her to speak to him about new dresses for the Bennet ladies. I had assumed maybe he and Mrs. Hill were on good terms. And James... hmm, what is this danger that he's referring to that might sneak up in him? Where was he before that his meals were as he described? And why does he have the opinions he does of love? 9mo
julieclair @CoffeeNBooks I agree… lots of intriguing questions about James. A man with a past, for sure. And he is definitely worried about the militia. 9mo
Sparklemn @BarkingMadRun @moonwitch94 I thought of Mr Bennett more as a doormat than a dick in the movies. (Can't remember how I felt about him in the book as it's been a while since I read it). “Tick tock, Mrs. Hill. Tick Tock.“ What a jerk. 8mo
MoonWitch94 @Sparklemn I saw him as a doormat in the novel, but indifferent in the movies. But such a jerk here. It‘s so interesting how every adaptation of classic characters shifts & changes. 8mo
