“People, aging and mortal, are like flowers, seasonal, wilting and finite; while I'm like a tree.”
Quiet and melancholy, a vampire story planted firmly in the ‘sad girl‘ genre, and I loved it. All vibe, little plot (i.e. totally my jam!), Lydia is a lonely young artist, trying to find a place in the world, without her mother for the 1st time, struggling with her ‘food‘ issues, and her immortality. Gorgeous writing, a really great debut. #netgalley

Wake the Bones by Elizabeth Kilcoyne
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I absolutely loved the writing style and the creep factor. The storyline held my interest immediately although parts of it jumped around, and some actions of the characters seemed inconsistent. Overall, this story is exactly the type I love so I'm rating it 4 stars.

I refuse to be one of the authors that reviews their own books, so I‘m thankful for Litzy‘s Blurb feature!

I almost screamed when my book popped up in the search—even though the cover hasn‘t been added.

It‘s been six months since I publish this beauty and I still can‘t believe it 🥰

Set on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota, it‘s about Virgil Wounded Horse, a tribal enforcer who provides the justice cops won‘t.

jessjess Oooh that sounds interesting 2y
Lizpixie @jessjess it‘s well worth a read. I learned a lot about the plight of the Lakota, I didn‘t know how broken their legal system is from government red tape. Plus the real story of Mt Rushmore from their perspective is devestating! 2y
jessjess @Lizpixie definitely adding this to my TBR list! 2y

MyNamesParadise I checked out the audio cd of this from my library but my car CD player couldn‘t read the disc so I may have to check out the psychical book! 2y

Jennaree3 What‘s it about? 2y
Sharpeipup @Jennaree3 A murder trial where Abraham Lincoln served as the lawyer of the defendant but all told through the accused‘s younger brother. 2y
Jennaree3 Awesome. I‘m a self published author, too, and know how it takes a village to get the thing formatted, edited, cover designed, etc. I‘ll check it out! 2y
Sharpeipup @Jennaree3 It really does...This has been over 2 years in the making! (But I bet that doesn‘t surprise you) 2y

I loved this book. I am endlessly fascinated by cults and I enjoyed reading this. Heavily influenced by the Manson Murders (the movie Charlie Says is good, you can see a lot of parallels) and a hint of David Koresh.

Not for everyone! Some difficult things to read about be aware of your triggers.
