A Night in the Lonesome October | Roger Zelazny, Gahan Wilson

Pickpick

I still find this book entertaining and reread it in October sometimes. Basically a bunch of horror archetypes and their animal familiars are scrambling to complete a ritual before the others. The story is told from the viewpoint of Jack's dog. Hilarity and spookiness ensues.

The last MG graphic novel for #LMPC Group A was fabulous! Very experiential. No page numbers or right angled panels… I found this to be a slow read, but a completely immersive one. The art and text blended surprisingly well, and I could feel myself there with the characters and see everything they were doing around me. For me this was a 5 ⭐️ read even though I found the storyline fun but not remarkable, just because the characters were so bright.

This was a really good book. It had some very big topics of depression, not fitting in, suicidal ideations, bullying. I feel like they handled everything so beautifully!

jb72 I read Sheets and found it so so, but I may try this one too. 5d
ElizaMarie @jb72 I think this one was a lot better than Sheets. Like it jus that so much more depth. 5d

Oh how I loved this one! The simple rhyming, the cute story, and the colorful illustrations. Witch flies through the sky on a broom and collects various animals on the way. This may be better for a slightly older audience, as I could see a younger child becoming scared over the dragon that makes an appearance. #PictureBook Letter R #BBRC

I am loving it so far! Its got a bunch of really important topics. I remember how horrible being a pre-teen was!

jb72 It was horrible. Preteen and teen were both just awful. 6d
ElizaMarie @jb72 Ha yes! It was. I was “popular“ as a teen, but I remember all the fakeness of it all. I was in this group and didn't really have “real:“ friends it was a very conditional type of friendship. 5d
jb72 @ElizaMarie I was not popular at all. Most kids didn‘t even talk to me because at one point I had a boyfriend who was….known for for fighting. He was scary to them. 5d
ElizaMarie @jb72 ooo scary boyfriend/body guard is a definite push people away 5d

Super fun parody for the horror fan & kids aged 9 and up! My Halloween-obsessed 7 year old son enjoyed most of the wonderfully creepy illustrations, but one really scared him. So go with 9 plus. Great gift for a horror writer like me or any horror reader! #horror #parody #monsters #recommended
