5feet.of.fury The beginning was such a bummer that I almost didn‘t go on. (Pam, The divorce, the DOG😩) but I ended up really enjoying it. 1w
BarkingMadRun @5feet.of.fury I know! Stephen King is so messed up! 1w
ErinSueMreads Ohhhh the dogggg 😭😭😭😭 but in typical king fashion it gets so much worse 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I remember the first time I read it closing the book and setting it on the coffee table and staring at it when he finds out about Elsa. I knew it was coming from all the foreshadowing but still! @BarkingMadRun and @5feet.of.fury 1w
BarkingMadRun @ErinSueMreads that was the worst, knowing it‘s coming never helps! It almost makes it worse! 1w
ErinSueMreads Yessssss especially since the heavy foreshadowing started like 4 chapters prior! 1w
ErinSueMreads Also going back to the first time i read it....did anyone else think it was going to a weirdly normal king book at first? Like the paranormal stuff really took me off guard for some reason. 1w
BarkingMadRun @ErinSueMreads yes! I thought it was going to more like a cujo type of thing, something scary but real, and then wham! 1w
5feet.of.fury @ErinSueMreads agree! The change in narration with the daughter “that was the last time we ever talked” 😭 and I was like “what he just saved her, she burned the picture!” Ugh. Everything after that became such a frenzy. Loved it @BarkingMadRun (edited) 1w
5feet.of.fury @ErinSueMreads I did, Edgar was so tortured after the accident I thought it was going to be more of a war with his mind type of thing vs…. All the other things that happened. 1w
ErinSueMreads @BarkingMadRun it really is a WHAM too! 1w
ErinSueMreads @5feet.of.fury that literally hits you like a ton of bricks. Like physically feel your stomach drop out of your body. And yes! I thought it was going to be a psychological one too! And it's not even like he tries to hide that it won't be! The whole book gets progressively weirder! But for some reason my brain just avoided and avoided 🤣🤣🤣🤣 1w
ErinSueMreads Also can we talk about how jack, wireman, miss Eastlake, and Edgar are literally some of the best characters he has ever written? Like we all know he's a strong character writer, but he really outdid himself on this one. Wireman especially is just so overtop yet so real at the same time. I want a wireman friend 1w
ErinSueMreads Unless he comes with a moldy old mansion full of maybe vampires and porcelain dolls. If so so I'm out 1w
ErinSueMreads Also also...ifso....since we were on the subject of iykyk @BarkingMadRun I'm almost deleted the last sentence in my previous post 🤣 1w
BarkingMadRun @ErinSueMreads omg yes! Such vivid characters and everyone needs a wireman. I was really hoping for a Shawshank ending! 1w
Addison_Reads I didn't get a chance to re-read this one but this discussion is making me want to go back to it soon. 1w
Bklover @ErinSueMreads I agree- his characters are always wonderful but these are exceptional. I remember though the first time I read this the whole book felt weird as it doesn‘t take place in Maine. It still feels odd to me reading a SK book that takes place in Florida. I love this one though! 7d
NikkiM5 I just finished the book, so I avoided the post until now. I loved this book. And totally agree, these are some of the best King characters; I loved them all. Except Pam, she can kick rocks in socks 🤣 4h
BarkingMadRun @NikkiM5 I agree lol what a horrible human she is 3h
NikkiM5 I admit she is a good “villain”. And despite the size of this book (I promise, I will be on time next month 😂 I need to check these page numbers) I did not want this book to end. And I loved looking up the artwork. That‘s also why I took so long, as usual, King had me googling a lot. Losing Wireman was pretty painful, ugh la loteria 😢 3h
BarkingMadRun @NikkiM5 I love when I have to Google during a book, but it can often be such a rabbit hole! After this we are doing Under the Dome, but I think I‘m going to extend the time because it‘s THICK 3h
NikkiM5 Yes and I am a sucker for Rabbit holes 🤣 I‘ve read Under the Dome, so I won‘t be late for that 3h

ErinSueMreads I was literally just thinking about this 1w
BarkingMadRun @ErinSueMreads I meant to post the other day and it skipped my mind! Luckily I remembered to order the book, I don‘t have this one yet! I think I read it and passed it on 😳 1w
MatchlessMarie I‘ve never joined this tag, but I will give it a try for this one! 1w
ErinSueMreads I found a first edition of this used and still in wonderful shape the other day actually 😍😍 1w
5feet.of.fury Just snagged the audiobook, 15 hours is downright short for a Stephen King 😂 1w
BarkingMadRun @5feet.of.fury wow! That is short 🤣 1w
Bklover Woohoo! 7d

BarkingMadRun I enjoyed this one. It‘s not typical King for sure, but it kept me interested the whole time, and I was so sad that it ended the way it did! 1mo
ErinSueMreads I loved this one too!!! At first it was kind of meh but it really crept up on me. I was rooting for blaze by the end in a weird way. I enjoyed that it had a somewhat simpler plot too, it made his character writing shine. 1mo
NikkiM5 Today was a travel day, so sorry for the late post. Blaze was excellent, I was into it right from start. I loved how the MC became attached to the baby; it caused some teary eye moments🥹. I always love MC and side character backstories, and as usual, King did not disappoint. 1mo
NikkiM5 @ErinSueMreads I was rooting for him too lol. I didn‘t want his story to end the way it did but it became obvious it was going to end that way. 1mo
BarkingMadRun @NikkiM5 @ErinSueMreads is it sad that I wished he got away with the baby? 🤣🤣🤣 1mo
Addison_Reads @BarkingMadRun I knew it wasn't going to happen but I also wanted him to be able to get away with the baby. The connection King wrote between them made me at times forget that the baby didn't belong with him. I loved that about this book how I felt attached to the "bad" guy. 1mo
ErinSueMreads I loved that the bad guy really wasn't even that bad of a guy 😂 @Addison_Reads 1mo
ErinSueMreads @NikkiM5 & @BarkingMadRun I totally was thinking the same thing 😂😂😂 I'm like there is no way this kid would survive but I totally want him to keep him 1mo

Hey #LosersClub I thought I would give you a schedule for the rest of 2022, for planning purposes! I‘m so bummed that 11/22/63 didn‘t fall in November!
Going forward, are they are changes you‘d like to see? Should we read along together, or continue at our own pace? Should we read throughout the month or keep it on the 19th? Let me know!

ErinSueMreads I definitely prefer read at your own pace, but im not sensitive about spoilers so I'm totally cool if we want to change it to a read along. I'm excited for the lineup! 2mo
BarkingMadRun @ErinSueMreads I‘m definitely in for whatever everyone wants, maybe everyone will want to keep it the way it is. If it ain‘t broke don‘t fix it! 2mo
KathyWheeler I‘m fine reading however everyone else wants to read. 2mo
Bklover Any way is fine with me! 2mo
BarkingMadRun @KathyWheeler and @Bklover thanks for commenting!! 2mo
Sparklemn Any way is fine with me. I've read Under the Dome and 11/22/63 and enjoyed both so I'm excited to see what you all think! 2mo
BarkingMadRun @Sparklemn those are both re-reads for me as well! Under the Dome was the first book I ever read on an e reader 2mo
Sparklemn @BarkingMadRun I love that you remember that! I think Under the Dome was one of the last paper books I read before I switched over to my e reader. :) 2mo

BarkingMadRun The first time I read this, I didn‘t finish, and I don‘t remember why! I loved it this time, I basically devoured it! 2mo
ErinSueMreads I liked it better the second time too! I think it was toooooo much for the brain the first time around. I think that one is one of his darkest ones honestly. 2mo
Addison_Reads I liked it the first time and loved it the second. It is different from most other King novels. I feel though for anyone who has gone through childhood trauma, or loved someone who has, there is so much in this book that rings true. Lisey and Scott have a love story that works for them and how deeply they cared for each other can certainly be felt. 2mo
BarkingMadRun @ErinSueMreads definitely very dark! 2mo
ErinSueMreads I totally agree @Addison_Reads there is so much more to unpack there for people with these experiences! 2mo
KathyWheeler The first time I read this, I didn‘t care for it that much — especially some of the violence Lisey experiences. The second time I liked it better. I really like the audio. I hate the way he ends the chapters in the book though, with incomplete sentences that force you into the next chapter. You‘re left with no natural stopping point. 2mo
Addison_Reads @BarkingMadRun @ErinSueMreads Lisey's relationship with her sisters was an interesting part for me. Most of the time male authors miss the boat on female relationships. I felt King did a great job explaining their connection and the love/hate dynamic they struggled with while at the same time never giving up on each other. 2mo
ErinSueMreads @Addison_Reads that's a really good point! I'm watching my mother in law struggle with her sisters right now and it's so messy. I don't have sisters but it's such a complicated relationship to watch. 2mo
BarkingMadRun @KathyWheeler yes! I was reading 20ish pages a day and stopping at chapter ends, but it always left me hanging! It was frustrating 🤣 2mo
Addison_Reads @KathyWheeler The ending of the chapters puzzled me at first but then I guess I got used to it. It made me constantly question if we were in a dream or if it was really happening. 2mo
BarkingMadRun @Addison_Reads yes! He definitely has the family dynamic down! The sisters were great characters! 2mo
Addison_Reads @ErinSueMreads Messy relationships is the perfect description for most of this book! I have a sister, and she struggles with addiction, so perhaps that's why that part hit home for me. 2mo
Bklover I read that he wrote this after having pneumonia in 2003 and imagining what his wife Tabitha‘s life would be like. @Addison_Reads @ErinSueMreads @BarkingMadRun 2mo
BarkingMadRun @Bklover awwwww that‘s so sad! 2mo
