1) done
2) most of the books I read are series related but Anxious People by Fredrik Blackman would be a good book for a sequel
3) I gave my last book a 👍🏼 it was good 😊

Some light reading starting the first few chapters of my course book and squeezing in my fun reading where I can 🤪📖
YA fantasy where Tea will discover that she is a Bone Witch when she raised her brother from his grave without knowing what she was doing. This first book is to describe Tea‘s training as bone witch and how she will discover her powers. I really enjoyed it. Ready for the second book. 3.5/3.8⭐️

I love everything about this #beltanebox. Thank you so much @sprainedbrain
It is all perfect choices for me❤️
@Chrissyreadit
bailed on my previous book and am picking this up instead…
guess i‘m still in a #readingslump
I didn‘t realize how much magic my reading included this year. The Bone Witch wasn‘t much to my liking. I think I‘ll be skipping the rest of the series. But the other 3 will be rereads eventually. #christyread #TouchOfMagic
Not sure why I waited so long on this series but I‘m really enjoying it!! The audiobook is nicely done as it‘s getting me through the last couple days of work before the holidays. I already started the second one, which is unusual for me with series.
3.9⭐️ don‘t get me wrong, the story is really good. There‘s just a lot going on as it jumps from one part of the story to another. The story starts in the present, and you‘re aware that something has taken place and through back-and-forth between the present and the past, you still don‘t find out what happened. I know, it‘s a trilogy and we‘re gonna find out in the next book, but the cliffhanger sucked. #TeamHendrix #scarathlon2021 #scarathlon
Happy birthday to @TheAromaofBooks . Today I am reading The Bone Witch and starting From blood and Ash for your birthday readathon. Hope you are having an amazing birthday.

#LittensDressedInBlood Today's prompt is Black Magic Woman
I love this series (as well as her The Girl From the Well duology), and main character Tea definitely fits today's prompt. She's a bone witch, capable of raising the dead. Bone witches are not exactly popular in Tea's world, and after she's betrayed, she sets off on her own dark path.
It had me hooked from the first chapter with its hero to villain to Anti Hero arc. The MC an innocent young woman with a hated power, that uses her progression to change her world and the monsters lurking around it. Written in first person perspective to get an inside depth into the character's change to really emphasise the plot and side character arcs within the story. Greed and power, love and acceptance, magic and hate.
A 5⭐ series ❤

Tea is a Bone Witch, a witch that can resurrect the dead. Not her choice and she is ostracized by her community for it. While she is a powerful being, she wants to become an Asha, a witch that can use elemental magic. These books are amazing.
The first time I picked up this book I didn‘t get very far. At first I felt that I didn‘t have the attention span to dive into a world with lands and kingdoms that I would have to keep track of. However, I am glad I picked it up a second time. I chose not to focus on the minute details of the kingdoms because the main storyline is badass! The author sets a great foundation for the main character and writes a beautiful picture.
When Tea accidentally raises her solider brother from the dead she finds out she‘s a “bone witch” or “dark asha”. Mentored by a fellow dark asha she learns the ways of asha and magic welding. There was a lot of world building, which caused the story to drag at times. I am however, intrigued enough to continue on to the second book which I‘m hoping has a faster paced plot.
Had a gift card for B&N so we took a family trip. My kids and I were successful.😄 The hubby, not so much. The past year, I have really gotten into fantasy and now feel like I'm playing catch up so a lot of purchases lately have fantasy. I'm antsy to read all of these! #fantasy #barnesandnoble

So many fantastic covers it is difficult to choose just one. This one is my favorite color purple.
#audiowalking listening to the tagged book. Passed a little public garden along the way.
Keeping up with my #BFC2021 goals. I can‘t walk as long or as far as I‘d like to but I am getting out and moving.
The tagged book is also part of #BookSpinBingo, #TBRDeckofCards, #LitsyAtoZ & #JoyousJanuary! 💙
This book was an engrossing read. I love witches and dark power and dragons so it fit me perfectly. I‘m not huge on fantasy or series but I recommend this to anyone wanting to get lost for a few hours. I‘m excited to start book 2
Tea dreamed of becoming an asha, a powerful elemental magic user. But when she discovers the dark runes by resurrecting her brother, the elements are blocked from ever reaching her. This is a chilling coming of age tale filled with death and magic. The Bone Witch is the perfect tale for readers who are looking for a darker young adult story. #youngadult #fantasy

Thank you @tdrosebud for this absolutely delightful #BasicWitchSwap package! All of these books are on my TBR and I have read none of them! Plus a gorgeous tarot deck and rune stones and some chocolate that I have definitely already eaten half of. Happy Halloween indeed!
And thank you to @sprainedbrain and @Meaw_catlady for organizing! 🔮🎃🖤📚🖤😱🔮
I broke my rule about not buying new books, but at least it‘s books that I‘ve already read, so I‘m letting myself slide. After listening to the free audio books on Audible, I knew that I‘d want them in hardcover to add to my permanent collection. The covers are gorgeous! 🖤🖤🖤
This was so much better than I was expecting it to be! I‘ve seen it get mixed reviews and some criticism for being “slow” but I personally thoroughly enjoyed the detailed world building. Reminiscent of Interview With a Vampire in the way this was told, I liked the mystery of the present mixed with the first hand accounts of the past. I‘m looking forward to reading the next one!
Currently listening to this one. It‘s been on my TBR list, and it‘s free to borrow on Audible right now.
#3Books ...I read based solely on the cover
@OriginalCyn620 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
I‘m giving up on this one - I‘m slowly realising that maybe YA fantasy just isn‘t my thing any more. The story was moving like molasses and there was so much description. Mainly of clothing. And the foretelling was a little too heavy-handed and unnecessarily cryptic. But another book off my backlist! #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks
I really liked this. There's a framing narrative of the present day set against the main body of Tea's magical training. I have to say I'm more curious about the framing narrative timeline because we only get to see glimpses of what is going on there. As soon as I read the last page I wanted to immediately download the second installment.

I feel pretty accomplished this week. I finished both Beowulf translations as well as my two #BookSpin selections for the month. All were a pretty solid three stars for me.
#WeeklyForecast
My goal for the week is to make headway on my two #CalibreRoulette picks and if I get through those to start back up on my project to finish trilogies/series I've started.
Bought these ebooks today! Not gonna start them all right now but they were all on sale for well under $5 except the Star Wars book-it was $6.99.
It's September so that means another two rng picks from my calibre library aka #CalibreRoulette. I did it a little different this month and filtered my library by books that are on the SFFBC shelf on Goodreads. I like that the rng gave me one fantasy and one sci fi.
Audible made a bunch of their audiobooks borrowable and this was one of the few of them that I had in my wishlist!
A friend sent me this series at least a year, if not longer, ago so it was more than time to finally pick up the first book.
I'm not sure what I expected but this wasn't bad. A bit on the dark side (which I love) and it was interesting watching Tea grow into herself as the story went.
This is also a story told as a story of the past and I absolutely love that.
I'm interested enough to see what happens next!

Borrowed from #libby. First time around I had a hard time picking it up for various external reasons and getting used to reading e-books. Still managed to get through 67% of it. This time I finished it in two days, I couldn‘t put it down! Brilliant world building and I loved the storytelling; the framing device was full of foreboding. Can‘t wait to crack into book 2!
This book was slow to start like really slow to start but I stuck with it until the end. I‘ll read the next book with hope that it will pick up with a bit more gusto.
#BiblioMAYnia #PurpleCover
I wanted to read this book for the cover alone! So pretty!! The story is good, too. ☺️
Pretty good. I was a little confused by the whole asha/geisha/witch thing, but I enjoyed the non-linear format of the story.
This one is for my #covercrush . I have ALWAYS adored this cover, and I loved this story. Looking forward to the rest of the trilogy. #booked2020 @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft @Cinfhen

It's been taking me a little longer to get into this one than The Never Tilting World, but I think I'm starting to get more invested
What are you reading Wednesday. I‘m loving this book so far!!! Only on page 75 but it‘s really good.

Bk4 in my #LibraryHaul is one that‘s been on my wishlist for awhile. I read The Girl From The Well by this author last year & loved it, hopefully this is as good. Tea is born into a family of witches, but when she accidentally raises her brother from the dead, they realise she‘s a necromancer, a bone witch. A title that makes her feared by her own community. But another older bone witch takes her & her brother to another land for training.🧙🏼♀️
⭐⭐⭐/5
I don't want to write a detailed review because I'm involved in a 9 month long round of Traveling Books. We're in the first month and I'd rather not spoil anything for the other readers involved. 😉
