The books I bought at #prosperos. The top one is by an author I look for in every bookstore I visit (found 2 books so far). 4 non- fiction, one archaeology fiction, one 500 c.e murder mystery, and 1 fantasy.

One of the books on my personalized reading list from the #omahalibrary.

I like archaeological books, but usually the characters are Mary Sues/ Gary Stus that I DNF It.

Hoping this one will be different #pandora #iraq

This was a book that my library recommended in my personalized reading list. I liked what the ancient horror is and its abilities. Would‘ve liked to learn more about how it came into being.

The most frightening part is there are real life people that are as idiotic as 4 of the 6.
I do think there are a few plot holes, so a 3/5 stars for me. #horror #idiotas

Holy hell this book is fucked up and I love it. It is fucked up in the ways The Road should‘ve been.

Nita dissects and cuts up bodies of Unnaturals to be sold illegally by her mother. She gets kidnapped and is taken to the death market, where she herself is up for sale.

Took me over a month, but it was well worth the read!

I loved reading about Timbuktu and its history. Near the final 60 pages I was on edge, worrying about the manuscripts and if they would make it.

A solid 3/5. This is a debut novel and I can definitely tell in the characters. A little bit too cliche and one dimensional.

I did like the Navajo mythology and folklore.

Yooooo the best YA I‘ve read in years.

This book is about a young women that lives in the ghetto and just her everyday life. Dad in jail, mom going through “boyfriends”, and her brother taken into foster care. Love how Ms. Ramos portrays all the different aspects of poverty (the MC‘s bff takes care of her 7 siblings)

Definitely a book all teenagers should read.

If I wasn‘t reading this book for my dad, I‘d probably put it down. I really want to like it, but Lila is annoying the shit out of me.

A love triangle, a girl that is ~magical~ and powerful with no proper training and a great thief... then her captain is okay with her sabotaging him?!!

Lila is a shining example on why I stopped reading YA... and this isn‘t even YA (technically).

The recent #readingenvy #podcast discusses teenage pregnancy and adoption. I placed for adoption when I was 16 ( 10 years ago) and am glad to here this topic talked about more. I personally haven‘t read the book(s) talked about, but they sound like good reads and are accurate portrayals of the “experience”. #adoption

ReadingEnvy What does "placed" mean in this case? 7mo
Conservio @ReadingEnvy i had a son when I was 16 and “gave” him to a family. Placed is a better word than gave. In the episode it was brought up open adoption which is what I did. I think your guest made a comment how much harder open adoption is, but for me I think its better! I can see him and get know him. But he also has the best family! My mom also placed with an open adoption and hers isn‘t as... easy as mine. 7mo
ReadingEnvy @Conservio I'm so glad it worked out positively for you (and thanks for the clarification.) 7mo

Importance of Science based medicine? ✅
A topic rarely talked about? ✅
Fair representation? ✅

The book is a nonfiction... memoir? About Alice Dreger and her activism regarding intersexed folk. She examines the history of it, current issues, and activism itself.
First heard about it on the reading envy podcast for #scienceseptember #intersexed #science
