I haven‘t had a strong reading year so far. I‘ve been quite busy this year and haven‘t read a lot of books that held my attention. Part of the reason is also because I‘ve been playing a lot of video games lately (assassins creed and sims4 mostly).

Hopefully a change in genre will kick me out of my #readingslump #mystery

keys_on_fire I have been in exactly the same boat. For some reason (pandemic maybe?), I have found it much harder to focus on reading. Playing games has been much more of an escape for me. Good luck! 2d

Starting off my day with reading at a Scooter‘s coffee shop.

This is a translated book from Finnish by Lola M. Rogers.

It‘s not quite my book type, but I‘m determined to finish it.

Just finished this. I think it would pair well with the book “Medical Apartheid”, by Harriet A. Washington, a non fiction book about medical experimentation on black bodies in the US.

Fool: A Novel | Christopher Moore
post image

Two books I finished this past week. The Memory Police is an ethereal book originally written in Japanese. It features an island where things slowly disappear- birds, hats, music, & etc. The MC hides her editor, who can remember things.

Fool is a dark comedy written from the viewpoint of the Fool in King Lear. Lots of swearing and lots of sex references.

They did a really good job balancing each other out.

I picked up the tagged book on a whim during a library and boy howdy was it good! A grieving window is sent to Champagne, France as a wine rep and along the way she meets a woman with letters from WWI. The MC spends a good portion of the book reading the letters and finding out what happened to one of the authors.

It is a great palate cleanser. #france #contemporary #champagne

A #coldday read featuring cold magic. I‘m about 3/4 of the way through it. to be candid, Kate Elliott needs a better editor. There‘s a lot of interesting ideas in here, but the writing needs work. The only reason I haven‘t bailed is because my dad gave it & the sequel to me and has read them as well. #fantasy

I‘m currently reading a collection of essays regarding conservation/restoration of #biodiversity and the pictured quote spoke to me. Ecosystems are invaluable and we need to protect them.

#Prairies (the ecosystem pictured) provide habitat for all kinds of organism as well as act as carbon sinks. It‘s because of all the carbon in the soil that makes them valuable for agriculture.
