Time for a heartwarming story so I‘m re-reading this
Watching "All creatures great and small" TV show and knitting a fair isle tank top. This keeps my hands busy when I still can't walk around that much.
Enjoying a sneak peek of PBS‘ All Creatures Great and Small and panel with the actors on zoom - while knitting my sheep hat. Season 4 tonight, I absolutely love this show and just finished the book read by the actor who plays James Herriot. So good. 🐶 🐱 🐮 🐷 🐑
#audioknitting Enjoying progress on my hat while finishing up this book. Now to pick what‘s next!
This series is like milk and cookies for me. Season 4 starts January 7, I can‘t wait. Until then, let me just travel from my pillow to the Scottish Highlands.
This is such a comfort read! I‘ve loved watching the PBS series and the book is just delightful. Highly recommend!
What an endearing story. Wonderful cast of characters, even the infuriating Siegfried and his tendency to gaslight his brother Tristan and James (MC). I listened to the audiobook version which was read by Nicholas Ralph, the actor who plays James Herriot in the PBS show if the same name, and I'm so glad I did. Highly recommend if you're looking for gentleness and earthiness with a fair shot of humor.
I needed something to help me through the final stretch of a very long knit project (summer dress, fingering weight bamboo yarn...) and decided to start this audiobook.
1. Where the heck has this book been my whole life?
2. How can I find a modern version of James Herriot to adore?
3. I'm only five chapters in; wth sorcery is this?!
(I'm in trouble when I get to the series in PBS, aren't I?)

Day 30. Warmth
A very lighthearted and cozy memoir. Herriot fills the pages with obvious love for his job as a vet. I turn to this series on a regular basis if I need a pick me up or if I just want to revisit it. Feels like a warm hug from a friend.
Made it maybe half way thru this, and by no means it was bad. I just lost interest, and had other books calling out for me. This is a chill memoir, with anecdotes abt animals, living in the country, and work in general. But mostly animals! Might get back to it some other time, rn I just wanted something more lively 🤷🏽♀️
Absolutely loved it! Stunning stories, just warms your heart through and through.
Loved the characters and the much simpler times.
@ShelleyBooksie Hughie is curious if there might be something else for him in the #litsylovesanimalsswap 😂 He loves his new toy Shelley ❤️ Thank you!!!
I'm jumping the gun as I'll be travelling tomorrow. Thank you so much @ReadingRachael - you totally spoiled me for the #litsylovesanimalsswap. The hedgehog is darling, I cannot wait to use the mug cozy and bowl covers and my daughter has claimed the straw! The book sounds wonderful and I cannot wait to visit Ren's Pets to choose some treats for my dog and cats. Thank you !!!!! @DinoMom
Ok littens if I liked season one am I going to enjoy these or be disappointed?

What a cozy (minus the descriptions of surgery!), entertaining listen! This was a perfect book to keep me occupied while I was stitching away in #November. I love animals and am a sucker for an English countryside setting, so this was a shoo in favorite for me 🙂
@Andrew65
It's time for #myyearinbooks. I'm usually a finish what I start reader. Especially if I get a few Chapters in, but occasionally I decide early on a book is not for me.
This year's Bails:
All Creatures Great and Small - I know. I know. It's a classic but 1st Chapter discussion of all the ways birthings could go wrong had me saying nope. Just going to watch the lovely PBS version.
The rest in comments.

Finally finished the tagged while almost finishing the next Christmas gift I‘ve been working on. I thoroughly enjoyed this calming, wholesome memoir about a vet in the English countryside learning the ropes in the 1930s. Was surprised by all the drunk driving, but apparently it was legal until 1967 in the UK 🤷🏻♀️🥴 #catsoflitsy #audiostitching #crossstitch
Cranberry sauce made, pumpkin pie in the oven, now on to #audiostitching while I make progress on my next project #dogsoflitsy #crossstitch
Just finished stitching the captains for my Trekkie SIL! I still need to wash and iron it, so excuse the wrinkles. I was too excited to wait to share it since I know a bunch of you were interested in my latest nerdy project 😁 #audiostitching #crossstitch #startrek
#Creatures #Scarathlon #PhotoChallenge Read this a very long time ago. Probably time for a reread.
My favorite creature is Esther my WHPG, 11 yo.

I got to about 30% with this book club pick and am tucking it into the DNF pile. It may just be timing for me, but I think I was expecting something different and the types of anecdotes that are present are just not compelling me to keep reading. I know this is going to be an #UnpopularOpinion, as even the other members of my book club have loved it. Oh well. Maybe another time...
This is my TBR for #deweys24hourreadathon on Saturday! Since I‘m going camping again for the event, I have to pick what I‘m reading to take it with me. This stack should help me with #bookspinbingo and the readathon bingo board, so I‘m excited to see how bingos I can get!!
Love the show but first few pages and we're talking dead baby calves. I was afraid books would have more description than I wanted. Don't need that in my head. Instead we are going to enjoy this picture of Tricky Woo.
Review is up on my blog. Check it out. Loved this audiobook https://reecaspieces.com/2021/03/26/all-things-bright-and-beautiful-by-james-her...
Well @Lizpixie this is quite the challenging task!! My favorite book read &/or published in these decades - I'm not sure I can say these are 100% my FAVORITES but they are definitely up there!!
70s - All Creatures Great & Small - Herriot is basically a family hero; we all love his stories so much!
80s - The Snarkout Boys & the Avocado of Death (Daniel Pinkwater) - Pinkwater's books are an absolute madhouse & I love it

What a treasure of a book! This last month has been incredibly hard far me and watching episodes of The Yorkshire Vet and reading James Harriet have been a godsend. Every chapter is a charming, heartwarming story of its own and the perfect length and depth to soothe a disorganized and distracted mind.
Review is up on my blog. Check it out. Loved this a n audible book!

Lunchtime! I‘m still loving ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL. It‘s got a lot of heart, and Herriot has a sense of humour about all his mishaps (though it probably helps he penned these memoirs thirty years after the fact). #audioeating #24in48
I started watching the PBS remake and loved it, so I had to read the book! All of the characters are fantastic, and the setting is gorgeous, but I don't know if I'll seek out the rest. I'm not that invested in veterinary practice, you know? #nonfiction #booktoscreen
My grandparents were big James Herriot fans, and his books were always around when I was a kid. I‘m enjoying the new TV adaptation so I figured it was about time I gave him a try. As of 20%, I like the book a lot (aside from one gross thing in the comments).
It‘s also pretty great to have a narrator who understands a good performer alters their tone, not their volume, to indicate a character‘s whispering or shouting. A+ work, dude. #audiocooking
This may be a repeat, but I needed this list again now that I‘ve finished The Mandalorian (sob; I think a binge watch is in order).
