pickOhhh that was very infodumpy.
It feels like MXTX got more complex and serious than with SVSSS, but didn't yet have the craft that made TGCF shine. I can see lots of stuff I like the idea of here, and there are some fun scenes, but holy mackerel, I cannot keep this backstory straight.
I basically treated it like a Norse saga though: let the names wash over you, you'll get it later. It has potential, though I don't *love* it.
pickThis was cute! Sage‘s former friend returns to town & starts working at her family‘s apothecary, while her frenemy is on shift there‘s a break in & potions are stolen- including a misbrewed potion that has causes injury to another classmate. A quick read. The mystery was fun to try to untangle, low tension, the world is fun & I was quite entertained.
pickA really enjoyable short story. I like the quirky human befriends monsters trope. This one also had office organization which I also enjoy 😅
pickThis was a very short & straightforward account of the life and crimes of serial rapist/murderer Danny Corwin. but it wasn‘t overly sensationalized and gave the living victims a chance to tell a story that was very swept under the rug (due in part to the attacker‘s family‘s influence in their church).
