Smitten Kitchen Cookbook
Smitten Kitchen Cookbook | Deb Perelman
NATIONAL BESTSELLER Winner of the IACP Julia Child First Book Award*Named one of" Cooking Light"magazine s Top 100 Cookbooks of the Last 25 Years The long-awaited cookbook by Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen home cook, photographer, and celebrated food blogger. Deb Perelman loves to cook. She isn t a chef or a restaurant owner she s never even waitressed. Cooking in her tiny Manhattan kitchen was, at least at first, for special occasions and, too often, an unnecessarily daunting venture. Deb found herself overwhelmed by the number of recipes available to her. Have you ever searched for the perfect birthday cake on Google? You ll get more than three million results. Where do you start? What if you pick a recipe that s downright bad? So Deb founded her award-winning blog, Smitten Kitchen, on the premise that cooking should be a pleasure, and that the results of your labor can and should be delicious . . . every time. Deb is a firm believer that there are no bad cooks, just bad recipes. She has dedicated herself to creating and finding the best of the best and adapting the recipes for the everyday cook. And now, with the same warmth, candor, and can-do spirit her blog is known for, Deb presents her first cookbook: more than 100 recipes almost entirely new, plus a few favorites from the site all gorgeously illustrated with hundreds of her beautiful color photographs. "The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook "is all about approachable, uncompromised home cooking. Here you ll find better uses for your favorite vegetables: asparagus blanketing a pizza; ratatouille dressing up a sandwich; cauliflower masquerading as pesto. These are recipes you ll bookmark and use so often they become your own, recipes you ll slip to a friend who wants to impress her new in-laws, and recipes with simple ingredients that yield amazing results in a minimum amount of time. Deb tells you her favorite summer cocktail; how to lose your fear of cooking for a crowd; and the essential items you need for your own kitchen. From salads and slaws that make perfect side dishes (or a full meal) to savory tarts and galettes; from Mushroom Bourguignon to Chocolate Hazelnut Crepe Cake, Deb knows just the thing for a Tuesday night, or your most special occasion."

My first #MtCookbook recipe for this year is this delicious cross between a coffee cake and sweet cornbread from The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook. Usually I‘m not a fan of sweet cornbread, but in this case it adds complexity to the coffee cake. Additionally, I switched the blueberries for blackberries and the lemon zest for orange because on snowy subzero weekends I bake with what is available. It was delicious for breakfast this morning!

New Smitten Kitchen cookbook coming soon!

I love her website and usually buy the books in support. I haven‘t cooked enough from the second one, but I‘ll probably pre-order this one anyway!

Her 1st cookbook is tagged here for anyone interested. I couldn‘t find the new one in the database yet!

SW-T I liked her first book. Good to see she‘s got another one out. 2y

Ok friends, I need some advice. Now that I have a house & some free time, I'd like to a.) up my cooking game, and b.) buy some cookbooks to have on hand. Hit me with the titles you like & use regularly-- I want to make an investment I'll keep using. No food concerns/allergies here, but I'm not big on cooking meat & I'm particularly interested in starting to bake bread. I'll probably test-drive selections from the library, so where should I start?

callielafleur I love the pioneer woman cookbook. And Betty Crocker still rules! 6y
toofondofbooks im munching on some pioneer woman cinnamon toast right now. she's my food hero lol 6y

brennahawleycraig I love that Smitten Kitchen. Also love both Skinnytaste ones. Those and Joy of Cooking are what I use most often. 6y
Lindy My two faves are Mollie Katzen‘s original Moosewood Cookbook and 6y
emtobiasz @callielafleur @toofondofbooks any particular one of the Pioneer Woman books? This holiday one didn't grab me, but I'd definitely try another. 6y
emtobiasz @brennahawleycraig I bookmarked all over Smitten Kitchen. I'll have to check out Skinnytaste! 6y
toofondofbooks I have the very first one she put out and I've used it a lot. her website is a great recipe resource too 6y
callielafleur The first one has some great stuff in it, I admit I haven't checked out any since! 6y
Tamra @Lindy I really like Jaffrey too. 6y
MarriedtoMrT We‘re carnivores but purchased this vegan cookbook because we like it so much 6y
MarriedtoMrT Also, I would second or third skinny taste. I have it from the library now (#blameitonlitsy) and we‘ve had maybe only one recipe we weren‘t into. 6y
Lindy If you are interested in baking cakes, the cookbook that has never me over the years is 6y
Tamra Lynne Rosetta Kasper‘s Splendid Table books are great, very well tested and easy to follow. (Not strictly vegetarian) I have LOVED her NPR show. She is retiring and I am crossing my fingers she‘ll still be hosting the Thanksgiving show. It‘s been tradition for me to cook & laugh while people call in with disasters & crises. (Laugh with them.😁) (edited) 6y
